The underground foxhole guy was neighbor growing up. The idea that no one knows is ridiculous. Our entire city knew this was there lol. They had to get permits from the City of Covington, bring excavation crews and dump trucks for weeks, someone to install the door, etc. You can’t really do that with your garage door closed lol. If going on television wasn’t enough, the guy ran for public office showcasing his foxhole and lost by a landslide.

Barry made a crucial design mistake. He should have designed his bunker with a sliding hatch so he can park a vehicle over it for protection and security, and still escape it if he needs to. Instead, his top opening hatch means he has to keep the area in his garage clear and exposed, such an obvious and easy target.

I feel ya but sealing a slide is harder than a round lid. Round cover gives no hook points and seals to gasses better. To me something is better than nothing. But my problem with the door is it swings up. Park said car u mention right on top and they are trapped in there

For the first family: instead of potentially sacrificing a member to guard duty, perhaps you could install a series of PVC pipes and mirrors as a sort of periscope? Assuming the fear is an EMP, and a camera would be taken offline. A single, high mounted periscope could save a member of your group.

I'd volunteer to stand guard. I think Pink was thinking the same when she jumped at the chance to be the one to stand guard. Way better than being in an underground prison cell pooping into a bag. Many people seem to think the world will turn into Mad Max. Reality is people aren't going to attack any defended structure on the off chance they have something of value. There's been 100's of examples how humans react in a collapse. Happening today in Sri Lanka, Lebanon and many other countries. Even in collapsed countries with well armed people you don't see a lot of roving bands shooting their way into homes to steal stuff. Yeah, a lot of stealing, but more opportunistic.

laura, while well intended when showing those old folks how to filter works, chose to 1. go to the bird flu pond she was most worried about 2. dip the bucket into the pond (instead of ladling water into the buck to avoid getting 'viruses' on the bucket. 3. doesnt wear gloves 4. touches the bottom and sides of the bucket that has just been in the dirty infected water 5. touches the spout , glass et al ungloved. That may actually keep them safer to an extent. That hatch and bunker design is quite solid which could probably handle the weight no problem. The issue would be getting out afterwards, but depending on how it collapsed on top still could move things off it and leave.

Barry is crazy if he thinks that after 60 days, his boat will still be safely moored at the marina⛵ ⛵, and that those islands in Pueget Sound will still be empty. I love his pod in the garage though. That would require some kind of organizing, and routines to keep people busy down there. Otherwise there's no way 4 people could live in such tight quarters. I don't think his planning is sound.

Anyone who lives in a hurricane prone region knows to plan for no power, no running water, an alternative cooking source and plenty of non-perishable food. It's a yearly thing. The good news is that in almost every instance, people come together. Of course there are looters, but they are normally the exception. The pandemic opened many people's eyes. But even in that case, we all pretty much came together and utilities, food and medical care held up.

Reguardless of if you believe an EMP will happen, being prepared for disaster and a crash in the economy would not be a bad idea. I live in an area hurricanes hit so l have supplies for that and that is how l got into prepping. The way lockdowns were and the way food and gas is now being as idependent from the system as possible is a smart move. Stock up on food, meds, water, self defense tools.

Keep in mind that there's not just one country that has _devices._ 'Mutually Assured Destruction' is a very big deterrent for anyone. A launch from another country would be detected by the US very quickly, and our own ICBM's would be on their way in short order. Obviously, those in power in ANY country would be safe in bunkers with provisions for months, if not years. In the US, perhaps indefinitely. I think it comes down to, is a certain tyrant ready to have much/most of his population and much of his infrastructure destroyed? Truthfully, as we get closer to having a big part of the world run on automation and Artificial Intelligence, I believe we get closer everyday to that scenario. We already have some extremely wealthy, narcissistic tyrants that really don't like 'We the People,' they believe the world is grossly overpopulated, and I believe they'd like nothing more than to see most of us gone.

you buy water containers the size you can afford , one at a time till you can hold enough rain water to get you from one rain to the next . Then set up a small still to make steam and condense the steam , and this gives you distilled water , then you must get your vitamins from food .

Underground bunkers are great but I never really see anyone address the issue of water infiltration, flooding OR if a group or whatever wanted a simple way to get the occupants out then just run a hose to the air inlet IF it is located or even block them.
