When I showed my friend this, one of the things he mentioned is that KZbin skits were all the rage back in 2008 and at the time were about this quality random so the directors I believe were trying capitalize on that type of humor they saw online at the time.

I remember me and my friends were looking for horror movies to watch on his birthday, saw this in the options, made a joke that it actually was a horror movie…and then we watched it…AND THEY LAUGHED AT THE JOKES!!!
