I’m Thais and I’m Freediver and Scuba diver. From your VDO i think it’s not bad weather and low current on your journey. I’d like to share you and someone who want to dive at ko tao. 1. Lompraya speed boat from Chumporn to Ko tao is the biggest problem for you from sea sickness. First time I went to Ko tao wave was 2-3 meters. I thought may be die is better. Do not careless about this, please take pill after you sit on the chair on the boat and let’s sleep challenge. 2. Ko tao have a lot of diving trip and school for scuba dive or freediving, even you never reserve it before you can find your trip by walk to many shop for reservation. 3. If you can’t swim and want to learn any diving please ask for pool learn before. Because I saw a lot of newbie panic people in their first time in sea. 4. There are many convenient store name “7-eleven” for fair price and you can small exchange THB by buy a small thing. 5. Bike for rent, it born for you. Even you can’t use google map but Ko tao is a small island. You can go around.

Old sailors trick..chew on some root ginger an hour before boarding and it eases the stomach and helps to stop you being sea sick. I know it works because even after a very rough night crossing I was still able to face breakfast.

From an ex seaman, look at the line of the sky, with the ocean, this will settle your ‘head’ balance, and should stop sickness. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Oh my god, in October I was on the ferry from Phuket to Phi Phi to Krabi and EVERYBODY was getting sick and losing their minds. The people that got it the worst were sitting in the rear lower deck by the propellers and the swells, sitting looking out the sides. 🤢 My tip for anyone looking to avoid sea sickness is to be on the upper deck in the front of the boat. Looking head on in the direction the boat is headed (especially focusing on your destination, if visible) is more natural and relaxing, and the wind (and rain) in your face helps to assuage nausea. Thank you Paddy for all you do, we love you! ❤

Good to hear Koh Tao is recovering. I’m now just 21 years in the Kingdom, thinking of re instating my Staff Inst. very cool to see the kids discover the land of smiles. I almost went down with that ferry. After our trip from Samui, it went to dry dock in chumpon, it was literally breaking into two pieces. Some things never change ☮️❤️🇹🇭🙏

You should have gone snorkeling with Miss P on one of the many lovely beaches of Koh Tao instead of scuba diving from a boat when you knew she would get seasick. Hin Wong bay on the north eastern side of the island as well as Freedom beach on the southern part are some of my favorites. I always go one week to Koh Tao at the end of my Thailand travel every time i go to Thailand. 5 times this far. Greetings to all of you from Norway.

It is a pity that your little group had such a bad start into your Kho Tao trip. And that Miss P will always keep bad memories with her first scuba diving experience. Never made it to Kho Tao myself, yet. But it seems worthwhile, even without diving. Maybe one day in the future - but definitely have to assure that there is no storm around… Keep on rolling, Paddy!

Hey Patty too bad about the seas! I had a trip like that going to Koh Samui once. There was no option to go outside and the waves were taller than the ship. I did not get sick however. The trick apparently is to keep your eyes on the horizon. So sit by a window. The staff on the boat announced this over the PA in English but most of the passengers were French and German and the Thai English was hard to understand. Many many got sick. Don’t want to do that again!

You were lucky enough that they used the catamaran boat to Koh Tao. Last December I went, they used the ferry boat (like 30 seat), and the weather was terrible. Roof was leak, big waves, everyone had a seasick. The worst nightmare ever!

Love the old pic. Nice deal. I haven't scuba-dived for years. Love the wiggle. Bless Miss P. That boat was rocking. Curled up. Aww, big hugs. And Micheal too. Nice, you got a good experience on the 2nd dive. Beautiful sunset. Good vibes. Cool tunes. Great video. I hope things get easier. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week.

A well weathered and toughened road-warrior, you are. Payback for your hitting the gym floor-running, back in BKK is evident. Could there be a Paddy Doyle Boot Camp on the horizon? I've travelled afar, through the wildest of hurdles, so I've been mentally toughened, but I'd need a Boot Camp to keep apace with you. The spirit says "Rock On!". I'm so proud of Miss P and Michael -- A+ for bravery and spiritual fortitude. And all the stronger for the effort. Kudos to all of you!!! A fine episode, indeed. dcb

You made the right choice Paddy. Stay out in the open fresh air , sit down and roll on your butt in order to keep you head as still as possible and look out to the horizon. Also try to stay around midships to stay away from the diesel fumes. Staying inside with people puking is nearly a guarantee of puking along with them. I always eat some Ginger chews before I travel as it is better than most medications.

Truly fantastic sunset at the end. Yeah, you had the right idea to go outside into the fresh air on the ferry ride to Koh Tao. I often wonder why people don't observe basic advice to avoid sea sickness. Staying inside with your head down, or burying your head in a blanket is almost guaranteeing that you're going to get sick. Yet people continue to do exactly that. "Keep your eyes on the horizon" is what I was always told.

If you visit these islands off season like this fellow seems to have done you might run into story conditions, Try the winter season for smooth seas and usually blue sky's. It's a great island for scuba dive instruction, hiking as well as beach and pool activities. These days there are also private pool bungalows overlooking the water for a real luxury getaway experience.

Hi, catamaran ferry from Chumpon to Koh Tao was an absolute nightmare for me every time. I prefer to take the slow night ferry to Koh Phangan and then take the slow boat to Koh Tao. But of course - the journey takes a long time and is not an option for people with little time.

Eddie, having been to both Andaman, Samui, Koh Tao, I strongly suggest you find a way to Sail Rock (between Samui and Koh Phangan). Its is a huge underwater pinnacle with only the tip sticking out of the water. With currents swirling around the rock that drops down to 40 meters, it at the top of my Thai dive spots for many reasons. Koh Tao diving is not so great, just inexpensive, good vibe. The islands off Bali belong high on your list, Lembogan, Gili T, South Lombok. Dives are well ahead of Thailand.

Thank you, Paddy. Teachers tend to be caretakers and this is cool, and it’s hard not to think of the people around you and how they’re doing. I never fully have learned to be totally me around other people when I travel because I’m always wondering if they’re okay. I’m the end, I’ve learned that everyone has their own itinerary and dream…and no matter how kind our traveling friends may be, their dreams might not be our dreams. In the end, my dreams are more important to me than anything and anyone (being honest here), so I deal with the trade-offs (sometimes very difficult trade-offs) of solo-traveling. It’s more about each person’s temperament than anything one can will themselves to being. You look good and you look happy. It’s nice for us to see you around people you care about (although it’s none of our business)…but, it feels right to see you demonstrate the empathy and concern for others. I think we want to know this about a person (I’ve just discovered). Flow…don’t push it (in traveling 😊) as rushing can ruin anything.

Very happy to see you include Koh Toa on your journey. The island is truly dive focused and I have taken my sons there in their early teens. One of the most inexpensive places on earth to get certed and put in the critical follow up dives to get your skills and dive count up. That said, the dive conditions and underwater visibility are not particularly memorable.

I think I was in Hua Hin on the same day/s the weather was rubbish and I must have taken the ferry to Ko Samui via Ko Tao the same day or the next. It was quite choppy too but what helped me on the way there was apart from sea sickness tablets holding my hands on my stomach as to hold the 'contents' in 😂 When I didn't I felt stuff moving around and that's what created the nausea. I also eat before bus and ferry rides as I tend to get dizzy if my sugar level drops. Another thing that helped me was to 'go with the wave'. I also sat next to the window so I could focus on the horizon. All in all I was fine and while it wasn't the nicest experience it wasn't the worst

All death cases can be described, bro. Don't believe in the make up stories that come later 1-10 years after the incidents.

@@KickIRLRecap You tryna protect the murderers? How come their DNA were found in victim vjj? The DNA results completed at least 10 days before they were arrested. 7 Scotland Yard officers already come to Thailand to inspect the investigation and have never mentioned any of FALSE tests.

Omg you really had an interesting experience on the boat 🙈 I’m so sorry for miss P ❤️ Loved the underwater footage, even though it didn’t always work. Believe I have to go to Koh Tao and take some lessons too 🥽❤️ Thank you for showing me 🙏❤️

Hey Paddy, What are you thinking about. Most Thai ladies don’t like swimming and will not get in over chest depth. For them to learn scuba diving it would have to be slowly slowly and she would have to be an adventerous girl as well. To toss her off a rocking boat with giant stride with full gear on she would have been terrified. I am an experienced diver and have seen this play out several times. Tried it once with an Australian lady. Same same, did not work even going slowly down a ladder.Had a recent trip to koh Chang with a Thai lady. Fortunately she was advenerous. Snorkling comes first but slowly. First with life vests and maybe a floating ring to hang onto if water is deep. Then eventually snorkling without a life vest in shallow water. Would not even think about diving for some time. Take care. Hope Miss P is ok

It was my decision to learn scuba diving for the first time. Unfortunately water conditions didn’t work well for me on that day😅 though I can swim and did snorkeling before.. Not gonna lie I almost cry at that moment when I had to jump in with full gear on😂😂 poor me.

I can't imagine how bad that 2 hour boat ride must have been. You're going to have to find something that Miss P would love to do and make it up to her. I hope the rest of your trip goes way better.
