Thanks for tuning in! If you enjoy the video, please consider liking and subscribing!
Watch as I venture off from my hotel in Shibuya to play a round of disc golf with some new friends at Showa Kinen Park, just outside Tokyo Japan. The day starts with some not so ideal weather, but I had an amazing time and will look back on the experience fondly forever.

Was so fun! Very short putter course, but the last 9 holes we played as a safari where we combined two holes. Probably would have never done that had I not played with locals

Dude! This is so good! Felt like I was playing the round with you guys! Good shooting man. I assumed this was a regular disc golf channel.

Derek, met you last year at the Expo. I was next to you guys in Robbie C's booth. Had to stop and watch this video. I played a pro tournament at that park back in 1999(?) when you could only throw under 150 gram discs and it was windy as heck. I was able to play with World Champ and all around great guy Sam Ferrans. The trip to the course with a DIY cart back then was a bear... only got lost twice! The disc golfers of Japan were amazing and one of my best traveling experiences. Thanks for sharing this and bringing back some good memories.

@@d_rock856 Yes it is! So fortunate to get the opportunity almost 25 years ago and still smile when I think about it!

Japan is a paradox when it comes to DG. Millions of potential players without years of time and buckets of money for traditional golf or other sports, but at the same time, land is insanely expensive and is a bureaucrat nightmare to do something as simple as install baskets. This is why all the courses are super far out in rural areas away from all the potential players, and also why all the courses are *extremely* short. We are workin' on it but it's going to take a big change in economics for the sport to do well here I think. (shop owner)

@@tonykaze great insight! Disc golf in Japan was truly an amazing experience and I hope to help it grow there! Do you think there’s something to having more “temp” courses around?
@tonykaze

@@d_rock856 practically speaking I think it's the only way to really 1) grow the sport or 2) make real courses, given the above limitations. We have plenty of abandoned/shut down golf courses but even abandoned land in Kanto is extremely expensive and nearly impossible to find out who owns it to ask for permission. We have a good temp forest course in Yokohama and an awesome temp course layout in Kemigawa, the latter of which is the most fun course I've played throughout Japan.
