well my theory is that the vessel is going to be how you the player end up facing off against Kris Susie and Ralsei, the characters. A kind of "player vs the characters they were controlling" thing, with the vessel as your, well, vessel to interact through. So I think the spooky text is just that, spooky meta text because of what the vessel is going to be used for later

I think the game is more of an alternate story/universe since the name is an anagram of Undertale. I haven't finished it yet but my guess that there will be a chapter for each of the 4 castles, or was it 3? Btw when you tried using the phone that was jumbled Gaster sounds so maybe he will be explained in this game.

According to Toby, Deltarune isn't supposed to be a proper sequel to Undertale, so I'd say "alternate universe" is probably accurate. It uses some Undertale characters, but they're new takes on them. No idea on other chapters. Toby's said the rest of the game will be released all at once, but that the full game is nowhere near being finished.
