Discipline Required (Pigeons Scared of the Loft)

Sometimes my pigeons get scared of the loft. They see scary imaginary things that aren't there. They do this crazy thing at least once per year. Has this ever happened in your loft?

Wow pretty good pigeons with good memory power and intelligent.. looks like they are single place landers thats why they dont sit on the roof top. Would be better if you make the trap door a bit more bigger and a net cage atachd to the loft where they can see the place around while resting....loved the pigeons

Yes, a net cage would be good but there's a lot of wire mesh too and they can see outside from the loft. They do land on the roof all the time and they resumed doing that after this episode of fear. They were the other way around: single place "not landers" :) - they were just afraid of the loft entrance area including roof, they would land directly on the ground everywhere and even on the fields nearby.

Very beautiful pigeons, Maybe lizard or bigger than lizard is in your loft, or small snake, or maybe you have given oily seeds..

Hello, your birds fly very well! Especially the way they go directly up when leaving the loft and flock together. Thank you for making the videos. What village/country is the loft In? The placement on the hillside seems ideal .

Isn't there a theory that pigeons can sense the magnetic fields around their surroundings? Could explain the once a year occurrence.

You are right. I think about this a lot but can't do much about it. The loft has a wire mesh floor plus it is fixed in the ground on iron poles.

Asa este, nu se antreneaza, dar si asa nu avem etape deci nu prea conteaza. Cand va trebui sa zboare se schimba treaba, dar e un echilibru fin, ajustez mereu ratia.

Salut Cand am patit asta( nu odata ) , in voliera intrase o pisica neaparat Sunt absolut sigur ca si la tine a fost ceva ... Poate pe dedesubt , poate pe acoperis si apoi a fugit pana sa o vezi tu Ceva a fost ....asta ca raspuns la problema Cat tine de disciplina , tu mereu ai fost un extraterestru in asta si te respect Porumbeii sunt extraordinari ( datorita tie , bineinteles) Nu te intreb cum reusesti ca sigur sunt multe etape pana a ajunge la performanta asta si ar trebuii discutat mult pe tema Te intreb totusi , nu e curent la ei? adica stiu ca ai prob cu praful si toti avem mai mult sau mai putin dar daca ai probleme cu praful sigur vei avea prob si cu , curentul!! Intrii mai rar la ei dar totusi tb sa le faci curat in boxe... Cum te descurci?

I had both mice and rats under the loft eating grains last year but got rid of them and now closed under the loft with wire mesh instead of wood. The pigeons didn't care about them, got used to see them under the grill floor. I live in a very quiet area, they rarely see people or animals and any subtle change scares them. Sometimes they fly for hours if I change my t-shirt from black to yellow. :)) Years ago I got mad when they did that but now I don't care. Even flying all night long most of them are fine next day, just very tired. I rarely lost any. I think the record was 25 pigeons flying at night, next day 24 got back.

@@Pigeonmaniacom oh my God! Those are unique birds. If you can get moth balls. Throw them around the loft. The moth balls, keeps snakes, mice, rats away from the area. Good luck. You have very beautiful birds!

They get jumpy because you have hawks chasing them my long distance birds are calm if no hawks around

Nope, no hawk this month. I let them out just when I'm with them so I see any attack if it happens. And they are scared of the loft entrance, no connection with a hawk. The ones inside are afraid to get out, and when they do they are afraid to get in. LOL There is something more subtle.

I opened a new brand of food to mix in my basic food, nothing special, not much changed. I was filming with a new camera and put it near the entrance, maybe that was it. But another compartment got scared previous week from something else. They should be working now at the races but can't do this because of covid. I'm looking forward to giving them some road work soon!

I have to training covid -19 or not CJC postpone the old bird races two times already now they thinking for May 17 but I don’t think so I’m from New Jersey so we are on the covid hot spot but I took my birds out to 67 kilometers yesterday next one at 100 just to get them ready we see but don’t look good for old birds this year .
