I have 12 rc vehicles and my xmaxx breaks the least. Since I put aluminum hubs and turnbuckle and upgraded the arms to RPM, it never breaks now. Or at least hasn't yet since the upgrades.

My Traxxas Maxx V2 only lasted a week before the ESC died, red blinking lights no response from anything we tried. The amount of parts I've brought to keep the thing running is a bit of a joke and now sits gathering dust. Given the companies most recent act of screwing the small guy on going to not invest in T the highest priced by far, I feel they screwed me without lube

In a simple, funny and yet great video, you managed to express the feelings of disappointment and frustration that the rc hobby includes. Something that most people, that are obviously not in it, simply do not understand. Things like: trying to fix any breakages, problems, failures, whether achieving that or not - which translates to not giving up and trying again. Chasing the sunlight, trying to find locations without a lot of people...and dogs chasing your car etc. Having others telling you " why do you even bother ? All you do is keep on fixing the damn thing or spend a lot of time maintaining it." AAAHHHHH....don't you just love the hobby ? 😂

Brother, I get the the T brand isn't flavour of the month right now but.....Take the wheels off and give the WHOLE thing a good spray in wd40 or equivalent and let it soak overnight. wipe off the excess....Plastics will flex more. A few people have commented that the plastics are more brittle now for some reason. Good thing parts aren't too expensive. Hardened steel spur gear and pinion.. 20-50 gearing. 50wt shock oil all round. If you can stretch it.. Hobbywing max 6 running the stock motor. That'll wake it up nicely. RPM captured hinge pins on the outside corners too. Had my X-Maxx near 4 years and it's my absolute Favourite RC. Tough as nails but can still break stuff if you go with reckless abandon. Have fun my dude!!

Nearly forgot the servo saver mod too... longer bolt with a nylock nut to stop the servo saver backing out/stripping the plastic threads. Keep bashing!!

I share your frustration with the Xmas. Around the same time you made this video I received the XMAXX in orange as a gift from my wife. (Best wife ever). I have taken the truck out probably 4 times and I have yet to kill my batteries yet, the truck does not last long enough. The crazy thing is your video shows you doing way more crazy stuff with your truck then anything I have done with mine. I have lost 2 pins from the left rear wheel, Brocken 1 rear axle hub, broke one left rear arm and can’t keep a pinion gear on to save my life. I am confident that I will too get this all resolved and send this truck to the moon! Best of luck to you and enjoyed the video!!

The best part is that you broke down a couple of times but quickly made the repairs and keep on going. I have trouble caring a 1/10 scale long distance. The Xmaxx is probably the best RC ever made. It hypes everybody around and give a big smile even to the biggest Traxxas hater. The wow factor is through the roof. Unfortunately it's still an RC and it's very destructible, you are getting the unlucky part of the probability distribution though, definitely. Anyway, I hope you managed to enjoy it a lot in the last 4 months. I bet you did!

Man my xmaxx has been indestructible I bought it used all stock only thing I changed is the gears and put belted sledgehammer tires on it and it has not dissapoited I send it every weekend and only managed to break a motor fan

I had a similar experience with my Kraton 6S BLX. Took it out of the box. Was super excited. Ran it twice. Motor blew. Center diff blew. It's been over a month. And still waiting on warranty motor and diff. I also have a TLR Typhon that has had zero problems other than parts breakage. Which is normal when you're bashing. I think all these rc's break. They all have their flaws. It's a matter of finding them and installing the necessary parts to reduce the frequency of failure. Nevertheless failure is an option. I will say all of these rc's require a thorough inspection of all the diff's, bolts, screws suspension etc. They're almost never delivered with everything installed correctly.

FYI, check your rotor. The stupid plastic caps tend to wear quick and allow stator contact. GPM makes a metal front cap that may help some, but the rear cap is still an unresolved issue. Personally I ended up modifying the stock mount to take a spektrum 4985 1250kv and it’s been very promising. Tad faster, runs much cooler and doesn’t have the noisy sound of rotor stator contact

Go with the Arrma back flip tires. They don’t ballon nearly as much as the stock XMAXX’s do and someone actually applied glue to them unlike Traxxas.

Trust your instincts. Traxxas’s warranty is a joke. 30 days… We have jobs and Families, we don’t have time to play with them enough in 30 days to catch something that’s a defect. My stock servo crapped out after 5-6 of these easiest runs in RC history. Because those 5-6 were over a course of 6 1/2 weeks it was outside the stupid 30 day warranty. Arrma’s warranty is way better. Yea you can’t talk to anyone live, but they back what they sell for what 2 years. Now that’s a warranty. Good luck, we’ll keep watching

Sounds like we have the same luck. First time out, all but 3 teeth combined spur and pinion stripped, 4th time out center diff gears found out should not have passed QC. Then just ran on 6s and the dang diff broke again and you never hear of Xmaxx center diff going out. I think when the first one was repaired on warranty they didn't inspect the whole thing as the next time the studs on the diff cup that sit in the gear were snapped.

You should buy that child an RC. If he's letting an adult know to take care of your toys... He deserves one. I would buy that lil one a starter. But I agree, when out the first time with the biggest rc you've ever had, for the first 15 min get to know the way it handles, shocks and all. Then the last 15 -20 you'll be landing a lot smoother and not catiwampus. And grab some proline tire glue. Dries in about 5 seconds.

My cursed RC is the Arrma Outcast 8s. Its broken all but 2 or 3 times ive taken it out. I pretty much gave up on it. Only ran it maybe 20 times and now it sits on the shelf, i dont have another RC that comes close to the number of breakages ive had with the Outcast. I dont jump them often if at all, i dont do skateparks, and only 2 of them ever see water that is deep enough to reach the hubs.

I love my Xmaxx, I love my xrt, I would never buy either of them new again. Hell. My Xmaxx was used for $650. Unfortunately there’s a few things traxxas really gets wrong. The plastic motor caps are a mistake and the fact the 2085x isn’t standard is inexcusable. However, they’re still damn tough trucks and once you iron out the kinks, which are relatively easy, they never stop putting a smile on your face. Oh, and absolutely fuck the stock tires. They’re abysmal. My go to was the duratrax six packs X.

lol the love of rc. but always check everything out of the box, and dedicate a parts credit card. no brand is bash proof , and never buy first run like i did the kraton 8s , money pit, out of the box bad diffs etc. they all have issues, but by credit card $###'s xmaxx is cheaper parts but don't expect the electronics to last either, . last 5 years most solid one has been corally xtr 2022. . but if you go way back to the real hpi i have 5 savages that always run and hold up. and of course i have to blame myself for many things but that's bashing. best imo fun basher is the new kraton 4s . light and solid and the big rock. bigger is cool but the heavier they are the faster they are the more they break. in the past 20 plus years old school hpi savage nitro imo was the toughest. but does it really matter ?? love the vid got a giggle. got 2 redcat 3 armma and a xmaxx waiting on parts now. redcat well don't bash them. but i do have 5 nitro savages ready all the time . its rc. better like to wrench

All brands… and I don’t have near the breakages I watch on videos…20 cars are about 50/50 a/t… and my kids ( kids😵‍💫 22,23,27,28) drop them off for me to fix(don’t tell I don’t mind) … and son has a 1/1 scale mega truck track on his property and jumps 80-100 feet in 1/1-…. The 1/8-1/10 see abuse… ( so after all that ) I swear by wd40

@@disciplinerc It's all good. Even before I ran my X-Maxx I knew that was going to happen. I had bought the RPM hinge pins even be fire I bought my X-Maxx. Hehe. I just waited for it to happen. It's still a very durable truck for its size. Mine is upgraded with a giant ESC and motor, but that upgrade needs other upgrades in the drivetrain. Stock is fine though. I just love to do double and even triple backflips even with smaller jumps 😜👍

Oh buddy... Nothing worse than constantly having to fix toys. Having fun should not feel like a constant struggle. I gave up on vintage motorcycles for just that reason. I am sure that once you get use to the new beast and are able to get it landing on all 4's, there will be less breakages.
