The Beluga has been dropping down into the $165 shipped price range. Throw new tires and beadlocks and a better servo on it and it runs up there with some of the best! Glad I took your recommendation on that one.

@@dawwwidpl TRX-4 right out of the box is fully set up and will last. You start dumping money on light kits, brass parts and accessories pretty quickly if you want to get more out of it. It's a slippery slope. The HB Toys is okay but greatly benefits from a high torque servo, weighted beadlock wheels and tires such as the Proline Trenchers we have on ours. I also ended up with some axle brass, TRX-4 shocks from Jenny's RC and a Hobbywing Fusion SE motor/ESC. I had to retrofit a motor mount as the factory mount is NOT compatible. It was a lot of work but worth it to me.

I’m happy to see WLTOYS released something worthwhile. I have a special place in my heart for them. Their 1/14 and 1/12th buggies helped get me into the hobby. That being said this isn’t the one for me. I need a budget 1/10 basher or 1/8 buggy from them. Something that competes with an Arrma or team corally. They’ve put themselves in a tough spot. I hope this is successful and they can get some mojo back. Great feature brother! 👍✌🏼

I like your "BELUGA" segment. I have one that I tried changing the inner portal axles to brass and every time I tighten the outer wheel nuts on the wheels it sorta locks up the CVD axles and the motor wont spin at all but makes noise.

TWO NINETY NINE.!!??!!?? Yikong crawlers can be had for around that price & those things are absolutely epic.!! They're tough as nails, last for ages, drive, handle & function brilliantly, parts are readily available online, they look fantastic with all the scale details & they can br picked up for less than half the price of a TRX4 (in the UK, a TRX4 costs £600+) They're every bit as good, if not better than a TRX4. I've got a 1/10 Jeep & a 1/8 Bronco, my Jeep is over 4 years old, has loads & loads of miles on it & apart from all the scratches it's still a fantastic rig. My Bronco is 2 years old, it's still 98% original & still drives & functions perfectly.! I can't recommend Yikong rigs highly enough.!!!

It's a really hard call. They are so similar. I feel that the WLToys just edges out the Beluga on its size and potential after market parts availability. While the Beluga was amazing, the parts availability is limited to your region. WLToys always seems to have upgrade parts at the ready almost right after a product is launched

Oh wow, I recently bought one of these, they're sold as an Amewi Caballo in Switzerland, I think it's really cool, looks fantastic, the remote is a bit on the cheap side but has some really nice features, stock tires are horrid, in mud they might be really good but rocks and general hard surface driving, they're terrible, haha. The biggest ''issue'' I have with mine is the tragic steering angle, I have a 1/8 scale that turns sharper than this and have no idea what the issue is... on with the review, excited to see what you think.

Wow, that was impressive. You gave it some extreme testing and it performed well. It also survived in good condition. If shocks were going to leakI think it would've done it on your test. Those rocks had sharp edges and its speed go it out of trouble. This is an excellent review. Are parts easy to get?

Nice to see WLToys get something good out the door again. Even though I'd personally put this strongly in the "capable toy" category, it impressed me with it's out-the-box capabilities. Nice dude!! Of the 3 WLToys, they all handle the same, it's just the style you are going for. The winch isn't really the best so if you don't need, you aren't missing out without it 👍

I want them to make a rally car, a giant 1/8 scale rally car. Not gonna lie though, it's a pretty cool car. The tires could use a little work, but not much. It totally beat the box speed! On 3S it's pretty sick. I wish you would have done a speed test on 3S. Maybe you could let them know about a rally car. A nice big 4S rally car. That would be cool. Great video! It feels like forever since you've made one. While I'm thinking about it every so often I get unsubscribed. I don't know if it's just me or a KZbin thing. Anyway keep up the good work. 🙃

That's a tough call. I do think this edges out the Beluga in build quality and it's a little bit bigger. It is a few bucks more, but you get a lot more metal components.

LEDs dont really matter except maybe for night driving. if anything that transmitter looks a bit janky IMO but the wench kind of make up for it in cool factor. this looks like a nice rig, but how does it compare to the FMS 1/10? they both appear to get the job done but is either one clearly better or worse? that video you did with FMS awhile back got me interested in the brand, the WLtoys handles well, and arguably looks better, but the rocks are dry so its hard to tell. i would probably be happy with either though. i havent had a chance to try anything FMS but i really want the Smasher bigfoot truck. i have the mini WLtoys hoonitruck but the FWD broke after about 5 minutes of use, maybe it was a fluke or i drove it too hard (inside on kitchen floor) but that was my experience with them. as an aside you could nickname this rig "Stinky" lol

Seems there's alot of knock of trx4s around that all look pretty identical even theparts all are interchangeable... looks like this happens to be another one of those trx4 knock offs, and I don't say that as a bad thing either its pretty cool that now you can get a really capable truck for a decent price..

Oh man. What about this vs the R1001? BTW I few things about this car... It has been around for years indeed but not fully released. It was available briefly in Germany under a different name. There's an upgraded version with locking diffs and a better remote with LCD. It seems that they copied a lot from another chinese brand (Traction Hobby or Yikong, can:t remember) and they threated them legally so part of the delay might be that.

That's a great question. I think there will be plenty of after market support if it takes off. You can find just about every WLToys part in both plastic and aluminum when you search, even off Amazon. Let's hope we get the same here 👍

On that note, sometimes you have to check if the same model is made by another brand. For example I have an HNR Panther and Werewolf and I couldn't find parts. Not to rub it in, but I won The Werewolf in BeyondRC's Raffall and he said he'd throw in a new set of tires. Long story short, the wheels and tires were FTX. You can get parts and upgrades for the Stinger all day long. Another brand that makes the same cars as Wltoys is called XK. Hope that helps. 🙂
