I am glad you got it sorted out. Almost every piano manufacturer uses MDF in their piano cabinets (even the acoustic ones). I am not aware of any "solid wood real acoustic" pianos... and I am certified in all the major brand names. You might be able to find a handcrafted European piano that doesn't use MDF, but you're probably looking at around $40,000 on up. Sadly, MDF is a way of life in the piano biz. Hopefully, this will dissipate for you quickly and you'll be feeling better soon! In 20 years, this is the first time I've ever seen this with a Roland. Thanks for sharing your story!

Hello there! Is there a way to connect a sound module with the Roland LX-706? MIDI? or USB?

Hi and thanks for contacting us! The Roland LX-706 has a USB "to host" port that will connect to a computer or sound module. (The new Roland home pianos transmit all their MIDI data via USB or Bluetooth.) Good luck!

Greetings. I have a question. I have an LX706 and I've been recording audio via USB and it works fantastic. The thing is that the dates on the audio files are wrong, 2018 in my case. I'm not seeing where to change the date and time settings on the piano menu nor in the user's manual. Thanks in advance!

Hi, ALx! Thanks for the question! The first thing I would make sure is that you've updated your LX-706 to the latest firmware (version 1.09 as of this post) and that you've formatted your USB flash drive on the piano before saving recordings to it. If that doesn't solve it, you might check with product support. We haven't run into that problem here before. Hope that helps!

Then I did format the usb key from the piano and still it shows 2018. I'll try contacting roland then. Nevertheless thanks for the support, it did make me update the piano🎹 al least. All the best.

Hi, Randy! Thanks for watching - and thanks for your question! The Roland LX-706 is fully modeled. Roland no longer uses any sampling on their LX, HP and GP series digital pianos.

Apart from the personal preference between PureAcoustic and superNATURAL engines, do you think that there's a noticeable gap between the HP 704 and LX 705 (not 6)? Thanks, Randy! That really means alot. We try to make these as good as we can and we REALLY appreciate your support! The biggest sound difference between the 705 and 704 is Ambience. The HP-704 has an "Ambience" button that allows you to adjust the *depth* of the default "ambience" level ("ambience" is an adjustment in the modeling algorithm that describes the way sound behaves within the space. "Back in the day," we called it "reverb" because it was an after-effect added by a coiled spring - in the case of analog devices - or by a computerized aftereffect in the case of digital devices. Roland chose to rename it "ambience" because - unlike Reverb - this is an integrated part of the way the sound is generated in real time - not an aftereffect.). PureAcoustic allows you to not only adjust the "ambience depth," but it also allows you to select from 12 different "ambience types" (ranging from cathedral to stone hall to home studio, etc.). In my opinion, this is a very nice feature, but it's not a game changer. If you love the 704's look, I'd get the 704. You can't go wrong either way.

What is the difference between the LX706 and the LX-17?

Hi, Majed, and thanks for your question. It's a bit difficult to answer, though. The LX-17 is much closer to the LX-708 (not the 706). The LX-17 used the SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling Chip and the LX-706 uses the new (and higher resolution) PureAcoustic sound chip. PureAcoustic has more life-like sound and it allows you to model the room your piano is in as well as the piano itself. The LX-706 has the new Hybrid Grand action (with longer keys for better leverage) and the LX-17 uses the PHA-50 key action. The LX-17 has an 8-speaker (four channel) Acoustic Projection sound system. The 706 has a 6-speaker (three channel) Acoustic Projection sound system. The 706 has the new circular buttons on the console... and the "pull-close" key cover. The LX-17 has a slow-close fallboard and the older rectangular buttons. The LX-706 is compatible with Roland's new Piano Every Day app (the LX-17 is not). Those are the most important differences. It's a tough comparison because you really should be looking at the LX-17 vs. the LX-708. I hope this helps, though!

I am looking for a high-end digital piano, preferably from Roland, and I am curious if the LX706 is the highest-end model out there. The 708 is one solid 48" furniture cabinet (not two pieces). IE - it's alot more attractive. It also has the slow-close grand piano-style fallboard (and not the "pull front" key cover). The 708 has an 8-speaker sound system (the 706 has a 6-speaker system). The 708 key action has haptic feedback (giving the keys the same vibrations an acoustic piano key delivers to the fingers). The 708 plays and feels amazing.

I am not sure why you think the LX-706 is an older model. It's not. It's a current model - still in production in 2022 (thus the title). When a new model comes out and this one is discontinued, we will change the title to indicate it is discontinued. This helps keep people from getting confused. Pianos aren't like cars - new models don't come out every year.
