FtMyers Beach was devastated during Ian. The storm sat over that area for 5 hours and pounded. My husband works for Lee county Sheriff’s dept he said we really can’t imagine what it was like. I know the rebuilding is necessary but it will never be the same. Further past the main island is the state park and the beach there is nice as well. We have lived here since 1991 and it is a beautiful place, different now but still nice! Lover’s key is awesome. Long walk but beautiful. Thank you for sharing your day with us!

Oh Greg Sarasota has the best goodwills every time I go to see my son I go to all the goodwills I have got some of the best things in my home from the goodwills there I literally got lounge chairs to go by my pool that came from like the ones you see around the pool at a hotel I got them for $15 a piece That's my favorite thing to do when I go visit him

My son and daughter-in-law are on a cruise out of Miami right now. On Friday morning he face timed me from Daytona Beach and I was able to see the beautiful sunrise ❤. They spent Friday night in Miami and when they get back they are going to Clearwater for the 4th. They are having the time if their lives! Happy Honeymoon to Jovan and Brittany Golden!

Flamingos are my fav! Loved seeing all the stuff! Prayers for Ft. Meyers. Hurricane Michael hit us. We live close to Florida line and it was a 3. Took Marianna along time to clean up and rebuild. Still see houses with tarps. :(

When we moved to Florida in 2019 we went through Panama City, and there was damage there from the hurricane. It was so sad to see the damage. . Thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery and the fun shopping. Looks like you had fun, the laughter you had with Greg was fun. I miss Florida so much, I hope to move back someday.

Good morning. Beautiful scenery, thank you for bringing us along. I am glad you can do some date time and explore. The high rises may not crumble like the wooden structures, however, the wind can potentially do damage to windows, so still scary to be there during a hurricane. My in-laws lived in Port Charlotte and when my husband and I visited, we definitely went to Fort Myers and Kissimmee and a whole lot of beaches on the Gulf side of Florida. My husband passed about a year and a half ago and the memories were just what I needed this morning.

Amy, when you lay out in the pool lay with your head tilted back so you won't have the awkward white line on your neck. My aunt used to get that exact same line lol. Easy fix and lots of spf in Florida. Those rays can be dangerous 😳

Amy tempura is rice flour soda water mixed into a batter you dip seafood or vegetable and meat you want to deep fry its very light and crispy and very nice to eat

Up in the air is NOT good during a hurricane. The reason for stilts is to keep the ocean from coming into your home and hopefully prevent most of the flood damage, however, you still have wind damage and debris damage. As a matter of fact, the highrise buildings you were looking at are under mandatory evacuation during hurricanes. They lose electric faster; they won't have water either because to get water up there they need electric pumps. True Floridians simply put up their storm shutters and evacuate inland. Less than smart people that choose to ride out storms in highrise buildings often have to sign county waivers acknowledging they will be without any county assistance should they need it because the county wont' put their emergency personnel at risk because they refuse the mandatory evacuation order. Essentially, the higher in the atmosphere the worse the wind damage. You are both very new at this and don't seem to really understand the horrific nature of hurricanes. Hurricanes are worse than the worst storm you can possibly imagine and sadly no one can really understand that until they've gone through a category 3 or higher and by then, it's too late BUT everyone will pick up the pieces, rebuild and be 100% ready for the next one with a lot more common sense due to lessons learned the hard way. Just remember (As Beryl is out there at a cat 4). ALWAYS remove everything from your yard, chairs, plants, loose bricks, toys, firepits, anything and everything. If you can't put it inside your home, throw it in the pool. Don't use your pool cover during the storm unless it attaches to the ground securely. Not by putting stuff on the edges to hold it down but with factory built in fasteners securing it onto the ground, otherwise it will fly away and become a projectile. Don't leave anything outside that will fly into your or your neighbors' windows. ALWAYS be ready to put at least 1 car in the garage so that you have at least 1 car safe to use afterwards. ALWAYS have an evacuation plan (My family and I leave to NC if it is expected to be a 4 or higher. It's not worth it to us to stick around. We clear everything from our yard, front and back, put up our storm shutters and leave). Sleep in the bottom floor of your home during the storm and when winds get bad, stay away from windows, pick a room with no outside walls or windows and stay there. (Your butler's pantry seems a good place). Always have a battery-operated radio as you will lose cell service or better yet, get a NOAH weather radio to keep up with the storms. Once you go through one, you will look at them all very different for the next time. Hopefully that won't happen this year. Be safe. PS, do some youtube searches of riding out hurricanes such as Hurricane Matthew, Andrew, Ian, Frances and more. You will see exactly how dangerous it is to become lackadaisical about them.

Oh my God when I live down there you never paid a dime to park at any of the beaches oh sweet Jesus Greg don't be feeling sorry for them then people living out there and them beach houses play plenty of taxes for that beach right there got to get money from somewhere they get their money you know how expensive everything is down south there you should be able to enjoy parking for the beach and taking your children there for free❤ 78 hurricanes have been recorded in fort Myers Florida❤

When you fill the natural land with all the dirt to build homes on. Then the water has to go somewhere. Florida has (had) a lot of wet lands. More and more people moving into Florida wanting big nice homes and changing the natural land . Lake Okeechobee has always been there. Even with the canals around the lake they do need to release water from time to time. My family used to go camping along the canals around Okeechobee. I grew up in the County along the East side of the lake. 🌅🦩🌞
