It popped into my head this year and I'm so excited! I haven't been in a decade so it will be exciting to go as an adult who can fully enjoy the festival.

Like St. Patrick's Day for the lrish, a similar reaction from the lrish and Germans have to Wurstfest. Still, fun. BTW, Austin is 50 miles north of New Braunfels.

as a german, this is the most bizarre and entertaining shit since the invention of the knödels...

As a German, the use of Scheiße would have been more appropriate.
@morbionicle4 жыл бұрын
@@DiscoverAustin nah - the connotation of the german use of scheisse is less neutral than the rather colloquial/informal use of the anglo-saxon "shit". my remark was in no way meant as an expression of opposition or a general dislike. it is simply weird seeing people "celebrate" what is/they deem to be german culture and their folksy interpretation of it. i mean we do not celebrate our culture at all - but this version is the disneyfied version dialed up to 11. more entertaining than anything really...

let me try to fix that up... Grüße, ich bin Craig Smyser (Gregor Schmeißer?) Ich bin hier ungefähr eine Stunde südlich von Austin entfernt, in der Stadt Neu Braunfels, zum Wurstfest, in dieser Ausflugsepisode von "Austin entdecken"

You translate that from Google? It wasn't the best. But give you 👍 for trying

Yes, Frau Merritt, my high school German teacher, would not have been too pleased! Actually, it wasn't Google because even I could tell that wasn't right, but I don't remember which site I eventually used.

@@DiscoverAustin Umlaut can turn the meaning. You know "Geachtet" and "Geächtet", 2 little dots turns the word in the contrary.
