I loved Takayama and Shirakawa-Go. Ainokura village is also very beautiful and quiet. Thank you for this video! For those coming from Kyoto or Tokyo, Make your way to Nagoya station and take the Hida Wide View train to Takayama station. The journey is absolutely scenic. There is a bus station next to the train station where you can buy the round trip tour bus tickets that will take you to Ainokura Village, Shirakawa-Go, the observation deck and take you back to the station in the afternoon.

Another awesome video to remind me of why the Northern Alps are one of my favourite parts of Japan 👍 I'll definitely be coming back to the area in 2026 when I meet my friend for a three week tour of the country.

This is another interesting video, and it is certainly a place I would like to visit. I loved it when Gramps photobombed your shot. I love old buildings like the thatched-roof ones in your video. I live next to a row of houses that are 500 years old, and the church is 700 years old. I'm a history buff and love reading about Japanese history and culture, especially during the Edo period. Keep making these great videos.

We are really enjoying this series of videos. Although Shirakawago has become a bit over-touristed, you showed alternate ways of getting there and other more quiet and still interesting and beautiful locations.

Thank you so much for your super thanks Kevin san Dale san! I agree, Shirakawa-go is very popular and not the easiest place to travel around as they only have buses. I’m hoping this series can help viewers discover less known places. :)

Another great travel video from you, thank you very much for it Kengo ! I have been to Takayama on my first trip to Japan, and altough I really enjoyed the Ryokan there (it was my first experience with this), and the onsen and the kaiseki meals there, Takayama is one of the very few places in Japan where I dont want to return to. For me, it was way too touristy, and it felt not like a normal small city, but in a way "made up" for tourists. I am probably wrong, and I dont want to offend anybody. That was just my feeling.
@tokyokenchan
@tokyokenchan 20 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing your honest feeling. Takayama is a hub place for different destination around there, so it was quite busy especially on the buses. It's definitely not a "hidden" gem. I think it's important not to follow what others think, and follow what you feel good about. Just like the bus from Takaoka, if you go just a bit off the main route, it can be still empty. :)

Great video Ken san and continues this very good series. Takayama looks a very cool place to visit. Really interested in what you had to say about Takayama looking quieter than the last time you visited. Depopulation is really becoming an issue!

I think local shops or market like this gives me bags without asking without any charge. I still need to ask for it for 3 or 5 Yen at any other shops. :) Thank you for watching!

Hi Ken san! Nice video! We did Osaka>Kyoto>Nagano>Tokayama>Shirakawago...was a great trip. Such a lovely place to see and having a great train network makes it easy. In Tokayama we stayed at the Hotel Mercure you showed at 19:20. Will be back in Japan in early April :)
