@So African countries need good consultants that can help them understand how to market/advertise finished products in different countries. Until they learn to copy what works for the local companies in each market, they won't figure out how to drive sales of their products. But, building in-country manufacturing businesses has to be done. Other countries take advantage of African resources because of the lack of African local manufacturers, making finished marketable consumer products for export to other countries. China showed how it can be done.

@steveconsultant45233 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you mean by "Western Media". If you are limiting your definition to US corporate media, you are correct, but Africa is not the only part of the world they overlook. Australia, Eastern Europe, most of Asia (including India) tend to be ignored as well. If you count Western Europe, then I disagree. European media (especially the BBC) does cover Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
@b.39403 жыл бұрын

@@b.3940 When dealing with th US media, in general they follow the adage that "If it bleeds, it leads." American news is all about getting eyes to see advertisements. So if there was some great disaster on Banana Island (or Lagos, for that matter) and a lot of people died, then it would make the US news...for about a day. US News simply does not care if it is good news. For anyone, whether in Africa, in Australia, or in New York.
@albertwells7986 Жыл бұрын
@Steve Consultant All facts, my friend. It's sad but true that American corporate media does not report on good news from Africa because, in my opinion, the main audience interested in such news would be the Black nationwide communities and the American media does not specifically targets that audience. The media there still caters to the white segments of the population. Everyone else gets whatever is shown. Africa is only highlighted when it's about US government officials' visits or the US military doing something or some great tragedy happening on the continent. Thank God for social media that has level the news awareness playing field.

All that land and resources and Africans aren't figuring out how to build affordable homes with world class up to date infrastructure for the average everyday man, woman, and child??? All I'm seeing these days are overrated and overpriced vanity projects suited more for the ego than the true development and uplifting of a country and continent. There's catering to the rich and then there is serving the people. Countries, businesses, and individuals which serve the people are the most successful and the more people served the more successful. Those which cater to the rich are the most subservient. Stripping the Niger delta of all the natural resources (oil) to build fancy real estate while leaving the indigenous people of the Niger delta economically depressed, would get Nigeria nowhere. What happens when oil runs out or alternative reusable (green) energy sources replace petroleum eventually? Manufacturing is the backbone of any economy and Nigeria has none of that. When Nigeria can't even maintain 24/7 electricity, how can it support manufacturing? It is completely insane that $1 (USA) = N446.65 (NG) and I vaguely remember when $1.50 (USA) was equivalent to N1.00 (NG). The naira today is not even worth the paper it is printed on because those corrupt leaders have let run-away inflation drive the country's economy towards a cliff. So, forgive me if I say I am not impressed by all the flash with no sustainable economy to back it.
