The funny thing about Lagos though is that in terms of Land Mass, the parts of Lagos that are 'good' is far greater than the bad parts. Eti Osa is a huge chunk of Lagos, and Makoko is a tiny part of Lagos. Most of Lagos though looks like a typical South Western city (just more dense). So, the 'slums' are by no means the norm. Ironically, the high brow areas in land area are more the norm.

I'm getting fed up of the mouthiness of the leadership in Lagos! Too much talk, but no actions! How can Sanwo Olu don some sharp looking suits and speak superfluous English when he goes abroad, or when he is hosting foreign dignitaries.......and yet he allows Makoko to exist bang in the middle of Lagos???? How? Why??? What???? Now if Makoko was somewhere In Badagry or Epe or some other remote backwater place in Lagos State, I for understand!!! But in the middle of the city is just no excuse! All the rantings become pointless....the 5th largest economy in Africa, Nigeria's only mega city....Lagos the City of Aquatic Splendour..... There is NOTHING SPLENDID about Makoko!!!!! Not one damn thing! It is a woeful eyesore! And as Lagos strives to encourage foreign investors and working partnerships , it needs to understand that Makoko REMAINS an Achilles heel to Lagos's advancements!! Can anyone imagine if Makoko was smashed up , and its place was erected a Tech hub and a few Work stations.....can anyone imagine the amount of money that could be generated for Lagos??? Can anyone imagine the surge of youth empowerment and employment that could be generated there?? Instead of the deep sea sand diggers ( who threaten the existence of the Third Mainland Bridge) and the squalid, fecal existence of the present time , people driving by along the Third Mainland Bridge would see a beautified and dignified landscape ! This filthy watery squalid slum has overstayed its welcome! It's Gat to go!!! Sanwo Olu , do Better!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!

Very good. However, safe for Makoko and a glimpse of Gbagada, it exclude other key neighborhoods that make up Lagos Megacity, notably Ikeja (the capital of the state with adjoining GRA, Maryland, Oregun/Opebi, industrial estate, airport) Ebute Metta/Yaba with the many educational institutions, the train station and drive thru Ikorodu Rd, Surulere with the stadia and nearby iconic National Theatre and Mushin with a shot at LUTH at Idi Arabia. In my opinion, there has been too much concentration on the Lagos/Victoria Islands and Lekki peninsula by most KZbinrs in showing Lagos to the world.

Thanks, I will include those other places in my next post on Lagos.

Also the Lagos Conservation Centre, Lekki should have fully captioned, not by the abbreviation LCC. Kudos

Shots of Surulere, Yaba/Ebute Metta, Shomolu/Gbagada/Ilupeju, Ikeja GRA/Maryland and Mushin will bring nostalgia to a lot of people who grew up in Lagos in the 70s, 80s and 90s particularly those in the diaspora. Keep up the good work.

You guys should stop filming makoko. It is a disgrace to we Nigerians as we have been mocked in Africa about that squalor

I just don't know why the Lagos state government allows Makoko to exist! They are quick to knock down completely well built houses in fully developed areas, but they are mute and retarded when it comes to this filthy watery slum! You can't be bellowing that you are a Mega city with the 5th largest economy in Africa and allow such eyesore to continue to be and expand! I don't know what the argument is, because the government OWNS all waterways, lagoons and rivers in its territory! Makoko is nobody's ancestral land, because it is built on stilts in the water! For a city that keeps lobbying for foreign partnerships and investments, Makoko is a tremendous setback !! Sanwo Olu shey kia jo!!! 👊🏾🇳🇬!

Makoko may illustrate extreme poverty right now but it is part of the character of Lagos! If I were the Governor, I would KEEP Makoko but seriously upgrade the living conditions. Makoko is UNIQUE and can actually be a tourist attraction if a visionary government was able to invest serious money there! Sometimes you can see beauty in a rough, unpolished diamond. Well done Edwonder. Don’t mind dem. 🎉
