Very nice video! Do you know if is it possible the connection between Dragino lps8v2 and a Heltec dev kit EPS+LoRa as a node?
@TasteTheCode Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't own the mentioned Heltec device but since it is using standard LoRaWAN it can be used with any gateway.

Hi, thanks for the explanation. Is there an explanation of how the Arduino with LA66 shield connects to the gateway? Greetings from Portugal.

I am planning to make such a video at some point but you should basically register your device on TTN and use the keys generated to set them on the LA66 shield just as with any other LoRaWAN device.

Can I use two of these bridges to create a link between two buildings? The primary building has internet and wifi, as well as cabled network. I want to create a WiFi in a secondary building, to connect some WiFi-IOT. My attempt to reuse 5GHz network bridges previously used for a WiFi link between LAN in two buildings, failed miserably. While the previous link was to extend the network requiring decent speed for streaming. This application only requires some connection, for WiFi enabled IOT devices. I basically want to run a long network cable between an Ethernet switch in each building, but it's too far. Switch --- cable --- bridge ---- wireless link ---- bridge --- cable --- switch

No, not that I'm aware. These are only for IoT sensors communicating directly and not for providing network extension. Instead of using 5GHz, 2.4GHz will give you much better chance with some directional antennas. What is the distance that you want to cover?
@thorbjrnhellehaven57666 ай бұрын
@@TasteTheCode the 5 GHz I have attempted are directional. It's not far, but not in line of sight. I expect a lower frequency system will penetrate vegetation better than higher. I think I'll try out some WiFi HaLow bridges, possibly with directional antennas. I expect HaLow is more suitable, and I believe they use the same frequency range as LoRa
@TasteTheCode6 ай бұрын
I'm not familiar with WiFi HaLow so I really can't tell if that will work or not but you are right, lower frequencies work better with obstacles but there is a limit on how much data you can transmit.
@thorbjrnhellehaven57666 ай бұрын
@@TasteTheCode WiFi HaLow, or 802.11ah is part of the WiFi standard, but a "sidestep" from the normal WiFi using 2.4/5/6 GHz. As It's primary application is intended for IoT devices, and not for user devices (computers/phones/etc ) it has not been assigned to any WiFi Generation. There are some available devices specifically for my application. I'm mostly trying to figure if I want to have an indoor device with an external antenna, or an outdoor device with built in antenna If I'm able to get a link, even at the low end at 150 kbps is enough, anything above 1 Mbps would be a nice bonus.
@TasteTheCode6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! I think going with an external antenna might be better as it gives you more options than the built in as you can probably get a directional one.

How come your LoRaWAN shows connected out of box?
@TasteTheCode Жыл бұрын
I guess they have it pre-configured from the factory with their own accounts.

When I connect my gateway to either both wifi or ethernet methods, it requires login ID and password. I entered root as a user Id and dragino in password section. Then it doesn't let me in to the gateway UI page.
@TasteTheCode2 жыл бұрын
That's weird. It never asked me for password on the web UI. Have you tried admin as a username?

@@TasteTheCode Yes I tried with so many methods, I guess my gateway's firmware has been crashed:(

Have you tried contacting their support?

Does it support LoraWAN 1.1 ?
@TasteTheCode Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the gateway will relay data no matter what protocol the device uses. Only in the application node do you need to select the version so the data can be properly decoded.
@dabdoube92 Жыл бұрын
@@TasteTheCode I see. If you still have close contact with Dragino, can you ask them for 1.1 confirmation pls ?
@TasteTheCode Жыл бұрын
@@dabdoube92 Hey, I sent them an email yesterday and they did reply confirming that the version number should not affect the communication, but they did say that they haven't tested this. Next is their original reply: "We have not tested LoRaWAN v1.1 / but it seems only related to sensors, not the gateway. So it should support. "

Well it's almost as plug and play. Not more complicated than setting up a TV.
