I have 10 years as a FNP and applied to the state department. I met all the requirements but unfortunately I didn't pass the question part of the application. I have never worked in a clinic but have worked in a emergency department. It is really tough to be picked. I thought I would be a great fit.

Yes, it was surprisingly to me as well that ER experience isn’t their top requirement. I’ve worked in primary care, but after the interviews I realized I don’t have the experience needed either because I haven’t really worked much with peds or obstetrics. If I was younger, I would totally focus on getting a job specifically to acquire that experience so I could be a great candidate. Oh well! Thanks for sharing your experience in applying!

Is this family only, or do they also need Psych NPs?

They need people with experience in primary care. To my knowledge there are no psych only jobs.
