Right now, as much I would love to upgrade to a 7800xt. I'm sticking with my 6750xt. It does everything I need it to do. I only play games at 1080p, and since I'm in Canada, prices for me are a bit more. So have to set my budget to a bit higher cost, or well. wait for sales.
@Waifu_Warrior11 ай бұрын
6750 is completely fine for 1080P. Adding funds to a cookie jar for a 1440 or even 4K monitor would make more sense. A 4K monitor can still play at 1080P until you get a better GPU. A 1080P monitor can super size to 4K but it's going to look like muddy water. In addition, moving from 1080P to 1440 or 4K is a one way journey. So if you are happy at 1080, embrace it. I was happy at 1080 as well. I game at 4K on a 7900XTX and there is no way I can return to 1080P. I kick myself every so often because of it.

it all depends also on your country... cause those prices do apply to america but not to europe for example where a 4070 ( non super ) is at base price 630 euro for a 2 fan model and if u want a 3 fan model then it is over 700+ euro. Instead the 7800xt is closer to her real price and it is 530 for 2 fan and 540-550 for 3 fan model. The 4070 super is starting at 670 euro in here and not the 599$ dollars for sure so the gap get even bigger cause for 670 euro u will have reference card and so for 3 fan probably gonna cost 750/800 euro and at that point u can buy 7900xt.

Great video^^ With the RX7800xt closely matching the RTX 4070 and sometimes pulling to the Super and occasionally ahead Id say the RX 7800xt is a better choice overall though it will depend on the games. However with it having 16gb of vram, and being the cheapest of the 3 found the ASrock, Asus and gigabyte at 499 as the time of this comment. Having more vram and matching and beating the $540 dollar 4070 and the $600 RTX 4070 super and both of those have 12gb of vram.

I liked this review, most other reviews just rely heavily on throwing out the spec numbers of the card which means nothing to most people. I have been flip-flopping about what card to buy, I currently have a 1660 that handles just about everything I throw at it, but I'm looking more to the future. As I get older and worse at online games I am starting to look at single-player games, so the 4070 Super seems to be a better for for me. I'm not rich, but I feel throwing the £599 at a 4070 Super will see me good for many years as it has the AI and the rest. I feel this is the way it's going, so best to jump on the bandwagon now as opposed to having to buy again down the line.

I had an Asus TUF 7800XT for a couple of weeks recently, as I thought it would be a good upgrade. When it worked it was great, but randomly from cold boot I would get a Code 43 error in Windows 11 and the card was not recognised. Tried everything, DDU wipe of previous drivers and reinstalls, uninstalled and reinstalled chipset drivers, updated motherboard bios, changed motherboard PCIE settings to Gen 4 rather than auto, checked power connections, installed driver only and not Adrenaline software, switched GPU bioses - nothing worked - every couple of days - card not recognised. RMA'd it. I was willing to give AMD a chance, but my experiences have inclined me to stick with team green from now on. It also had more coil whine than my old 3070, though it was fortunately more of a 'coil hum' rather than whine.

@Sp3cialk3048 ай бұрын
At 1440p they certainly don't. I have a Rx 6800 and a RTX 4070 Super. Every single UE5 game uses less than 9gb even at 4k. The difference between the 4060 ti 8gb and 16gb is the same at 1440p as it is as 1440p. (Dead even). There is a small difference between them at 4k (1-2 percent on average). 3 games came out that used modern assets but didn't require an SSD and didn't use asset streaming. Everything since has just required SSD and stream assets on the fly. The 6800 that I have actually starts struggling well before it gets to 12gb of vram used. Games no longer load large areas all at once and use stuff like elevators, long ladders, narrow pathways to load new areas. Because they can adjust detail and poly count in real time. Also if you look at say a 3080 compared to a 6800xt/7800xt the 3080 will lose at 1080p but as increase resolution/demand the lead shrinks and by the time you get to 4k the 3080 is beating them on average. Because while they have more vram, the 3080 has more memory bandwidth. Please read Techpowerups conclusion on the Avatar Frontiers of Pandora review. They have a section addressing vram allocation vs usage. This whole vram hysteria started because the 3070 started struggling at 1440p and people said it was because of vram. But the 6700xt/6750xt is also struggling in new releases at 1440p. Not because of vram but because of the performance of those cards. The 6800 can't run max settings at 1440p in most UE5 games and a few other new releases. Performance becomes an issue well before vram does. You can look at Techpowerups or Techspots (hardware unboxed) latest GPU reviews (7900 gre reviews are newest at time of posting). Not to mention Hardware Unboxed tested DLSS vs Native at 4k and 1440p in image quality. They had DLSS Quality winning more than it lost. And that was a year ago with an older version of DLSS. While fsr image quality hasn't improved since 2.2. DLSS image quality improves every update. The version in Alan Wake 2 is better than the version in Phantom Liberty. Luckily it's easy to update what version a game uses. Just replace a dll file. DLSS is the main reason I got the 4070 Super. Not for the performance. But because every new game uses TAA or FXAA and they do more damage to image quality than DLSS. Machine Trained AI hardware accelerated Temporal Reconstruction is simply better than basic temporal reconstruction using a basic filter.

@@Sp3cialk304 Thanks so much for this clarification, I think I'll go with 4070 super instead of amd gpu since I want to prio image quality on my oled for better immersion. I think it would be solid for five more years until it's time to upgrade.
@Sp3cialk3048 ай бұрын
@@vincent6210 good choice. You'll get the better image quality, better real world performance. DLSS quality 1440p gets better than or equal to native image quality and better than 1080p performance. And being able to get right at 60fps in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty with Path Tracing, max settings 1440p DLSS quality with ray reconstruction is nice. And you could double that frame rate if you use frame gen, but I just stick with 60fps. Last years 3 best looking games where all nice show cases for RT. Alan Wake 2, Phantom Liberty and Avatar.

I upgraded to a 4070 Super from the 4070 (same subvendor, some type of "Gaming OC" card) and... I am of two minds about the whole thing. On the one hand, the Super offers a pretty substantial uplift in performance in my usage-scenario (mostly gaming, including flight-sims in VR) - but it also makes the 4070 look like a bit of a bad deal in hind-sight. The Super, IMO, is what the 4070 should've been at 40xx-launch. But .. no matter, as I got a decent price for the old card and I was able to sell it to a fellow flight-simmer who was still rocking a pretty ancient mid-tier AMD-card. IMO, both the 4070 Super and Ti Super are/were worthwhile successors/refresh cards, but, just like with the 4070 vs 4070S, I feel that the Ti Super also makes the original Ti look like a pretty bad deal in retrospect. I was eyeing the Ti Super pretty hard, not least because it's the only Super-card that got an upgrade to its VRAM configuration, but €800 vs €600 made me opt for the Super instead. Can't say I'm unhappy with the decision as the Super gets pretty close to the OG 4070 Ti in performance. With an Afterburner Auto OC, I'm getting into the Top 10% to Top 20% (depending on the test) on 3DMark's ranking when compared to systems that are running a 4070 Ti.

I think this is a great video. I do have to say I went from a 3080 paying 699 at launch to a 7900xt paying 699 and the difference is quite a bit. That being said I have noticed at random times while playing space marines 2 pvp my fps will tank to 30-40 and the game will just stutter and in pvp games you most likely die. I don’t know if it’s a settings issue or a connection issue but it definitely stinks. This is random and doesn’t happen often but it does happen. My thoughts are if you’re on a budget go AMD as you’ll still have an amazing experience but if you have a higher budget just go Nvidia due to the stability of it. Me personally I see myself waiting for the 5000 series gpus and possibly upgrading. Normally I don’t upgrade annually as I went from a GTX 970 to a 3080 but I think I like the stability of Nvidia more. Now I would definitely buy AMD again but it just depends on the market at the time. I do have to say the 7900xt is %95 amazing but that %5 at a $699 price point is a bit disappointing.

@nicane-996611 ай бұрын
12gb for a 600dls product sounds like a bad purchase. Already games pushing 10, 11gb even consoles have 16gb (its an APU) but still you can expect less optimized games in the future than we already have. It should have been a 16gb card like the rest of the series with a 256 bus.
@RobeytechLive11 ай бұрын
Consoles have shared system RAM and most games use less than 8GB of that ram for Video purposes. Understand if PC developers targeted GPUs with greater than 10GB of VRAM it would be selling to less than 2% of the PC market. At Ultra settings (usually the most unoptimized) you see flagrant use of VRAM, but on standard settings meant for recommends you are seeing between 6 and 8GB. Take Cyberpunk 2077 one of the most graphic intensive games at 1440p on Ultra you are using 8GB of VRAM. Again don't mix poor opimization of PC games with what you need. Game developers will fix it with patches but 12GB will be more than enough for 5 to 6 years given how long it takes the masses to jump in average VRAM.

Very happy 4070 super owner here. I betting that 12GB vram will perform just fine much longer than most people think. I’m newer to the pc world but it seems like so many people are over emphasizing the importance of VRAM (especially 12GB vs 16gb) Am I way off base here?

Amd and nvidia are really close in this generation. Performance: Amd wins a bit on auto oc Amd wins a bit on raw rasterisation Amd wins a bit with Rebar Nvidia makes it all up with RT and dlss. Quality: Amd loses a bit on the fsr while nvidia loses a bit because of a lack of vram which causes textures to not fully render. The 4070super competes with the 7900gre. Equal performance and quality. The 4070super is more expensive but really makes up a lot in efficiency. (Average of 70 watt what for 1000 hours a year could mean 20 dollars a year. Most keep a card about 5 years so a 100 dollar difference is still acceptable) Between the 4070 and 7800xt: 7800xt wins with just a bit because quality loss of fsr is software based and can be fixed. Lower vram cant. Between the 4070super and the 7900gre: 4070super only if the 4070 super is max 30 dollars difference with the 7900gre because of the cheaper option.

@oz515011 ай бұрын
16gb alone is why id buy the 7800XT vs the 4070 Super. Nvidia needs to bring out 16gb cards at an affordable price. 12gb isn't going to cut it even for 1440p here in 2 years. And seeing as the regular consumer is upgrading every other generation (3 to 5 years). You are really losing out, Nvidia is praying you buy in on frame generation.. and will buy their card.. just to feel cheated when next year they have a cheaper card that blows out your 600 dollar card for the same price. If you do need to buy a new card at least look at the 7900XTX if they do drop it after the 4080 Super launches. If that card is 800 bucks then we won as consumers.

i mean if you have a system that can cool adequately enough and a big enough PSU a 6950xt for 550$ seems like the way to go for 1440p-4k outside of dlss or dlss frame gen scenarios. or pure raytracing/pve experiences. Otherwise the 4070S seems to win if you will play a range of PVE titles that support dlss/dlss3. Plus youre seeing a 200-220w max TDP vs a 300W+ card. Which totals out to PSU budget and PSU/qualikty/system thermals.

In 2-3 years the 12gb of vram is going to start suffering. I’ve bought a 4070 super knowing that the vram is going to screw me eventually, but I’m hoping and I know that Nvidia’s AI tech is only going to get better. You might have to start turning textures to high or medium in a few years, but I just prefer the benefits and versatility of Nvidia cards. An afterthought as well: you can’t ever fully future proof your build. I built a AM4 system with a 5800x processor and a 3070 which has served me well, but is forcing me to build a new AM5 system if I need to upgrade my cpu. I would just buy whatever suits your needs right now, because if you always want the best performance you are going to have to upgrade your gpu every 2-3 years
