I so appreciate your editing. While others succumb to the temptation of letting a helmet-mounted GoPro roll indefinitely, you capture the essence in quick, interesting cuts. Your writing and narration are wonderful. This is truly one of the best KATY Trail videos I've seen.

Thanks again, Mike! I have done the helmet mount. Definitely prefer the hand held approach. Gives a much better impression of the whole experience. Although cycling with one hand has got me into trouble a time or two.

If your knee is going to hurt, the Katy trail is not the worse place. Thanks for description of that trail, it was the most complete. I enjoy your videos, and love how you two get along. Thanks.

Not sure what happened to my original post, but I said how much I look forward to your weekly or semi weekly updates. Maybe it was on another site. Feels like we are riding with you. Your filming has an immediacy to it and I know how much work it takes. Anyway, I wanted to add that today I mounted up again. I have let life and Covid get in the way that last few months but as left Boonville I thought - "Damn - I have to get back in the mode for this summer." So today I rode 16 km. I would have gone further but I had a real pain in the ass and at 81 I am cautious, But my point is it was because of you guys that I got out, so thanks. You make a difference!

Hello! That makes our day! The reason we create these videos and post them is to inspire folks to ride and see the world by bike. In the same way we've been inspired by others. Thanks for sharing that. And happy trails!

Really enjoying the videos. I especially like that you're stating where you are at various points in your day. it gives me a chance to see where these places are on a map.

I'm a total map geek as well, and although I didn't keep Strava or anything to track, I always knew where we were, and knew if I was watching these, I'd want to know. That's why I try to keep the viewers who care about that kind of thing informed.

If it is not to much to ask, what means do you use to search for lodging each day and what makes you decide to camp or hotel? I am guessing availability perhaps?
@TheBicycleTourists
@TheBicycleTourists 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, availability. Camping became a bit of a hassle in the east when the temps were high because everything would be soaked with dew in the morning. Also, not a ton of options near where we were. And once September hit a lot were closed. Camping was much easier in the west. For hotels we would look ahead at likely towns, and toward mid-day would reserve something we knew we could make. Only once were we unable to make it.

@@TheBicycleTourists I have several action cameras but now retired and found that good editing software super expensive. Trying to find a good either free or very low-cost editing software. Any ideas?
@TheBicycleTourists
@TheBicycleTourists Жыл бұрын
Well, as they say you get what you pay for. I decided to make this my go-to hobby, and so invested in Premiere Pro, because I spend so much time editing this stuff. The software itself is professional grade, but I only understand a fraction of what it can do. Before that I used iMovie, which was not too bad, to be honest. And free. But I assume only for Mac. Not sure what's available if you're on PC. Good luck!

@@TheBicycleTourists they are in Washington now, heading towards Cascades. I’ve shown them a link to your videos and will tell them I’ve been in touch with you. Tough first week- cold rainy weather, looks better now. I’ll let you know what they say. And thanks so much for sharing your wonderful videos.

That's great. Looking forward to discussing with them. They are leaving early, hence the rainy weather in the NW. But it should help them escape the probable forest fires and smoke in the west as the season progresses. And thanks again for watching!
