Agreed, Click Clack, you can scream "THE FORMULA," but still, it's not BP; it's 2NE1. Drip? No formula, but the use of pink was weird because BM's colors are more red, blue, and black. I don't know why the pink; red would be better, but it is also more "mature," and I don't think they are doing that yet. The problem is, pink must be BP, right? But BP has specific shades and one official shade of pink that no YG group will use. So, the choice of pink, in my opinion, was because Forever had blue, red is too mature, and the song is directed at a younger audience. The comparisons started with BP vs. 2NE1, and before BM's debut, there were comparisons; it's inevitable. However, the song wasn't formulaic like BP usually is, and I think the pink was to attract Blinks, good or bad in the end. YG doesn't make those kinds of choices on a whim; he cannot. BM will need to endure a little with the comparisons, but BP survived, and they will too.

Enjoyed your authentic reaction. ONE THING: Blackpink has NOT left YG! They renewed their contracts as a group. They only left for their solo careers. In fact, they are confirmed for a comeback AND World Tour next year! 🎉 Also, if you noticed, the text for DRIP is pink. They were promoting their album. I don't see how that would make them copying. I didn't get the vibe from BM that they were copying BP, and I watched them as they were released. For B-sides to upload to YT, I recommend Billionaire! My second choice would be love, maybe.❤

As a BLACKJACK, BLINK, and MONSTIEZ who started stanning the 3 groups even before they debuted and witnessed the progress of KPOP from late 1st gen to now, DRIP is a major throwback vibes to 2nd gen songs and the close comparison is 2NE1. 2NE1 EXCELS this kind of genre. If you're going to listen to the ENTIRE ALBUM, it's giving 2NE1 & 2nd gen tbh, not BP.

There isn’t anything blackpink coded in this except for the colors used in the props and wardrobe. Blackpink has never done a song at this tempo. Only thing close is boombayah and they haven’t gone back. This is way closer to early 2ne1 sound.

On your point about BM “feeling” like they are a “copy” (may be a bad choice of word here) of BLACKPINK, I think they have been given free rein for their development and direction. While vocally some of them may sound like Jennie or Rose, that will be inevitable as their vocal range, especially for Ahyeon, Rami and Pharita in within the ranges of Jennie, Jisoo and Rose. BM brings so much more to the table as a vocal heavy group that BLACKPINK (and I am a Blink too) doesn’t. The vocal range of BM is far wider and allows for more scope for their songs. IMHO, one should list to the DRIP album in the order as stated in the album. You’ll realise that the dance break (or cheering part) in Clik Clak leads nicely onto Drip, which then slows down considerable in “Love, Maybe”. From a concept perspective, they have shown us that they are able to carry themselves in Girl Crush, Y2K and other concepts with a YG swagger twist to it. just my thoughts.

Their songs are YG coded which is how it is for every YG group. I personally think they're just being their own YG group. I don't think BP has ever had a song like Clik Clak for example, and I personally didn't get BP coded vibes from Drip (if anything maybe a hint of 2NE1) - they just used black and pink a fair bit in the sets/costumes. I also think their concepts are different. With Blackpink I see their name meaning 'we're cute but can turn it on for the stage and can be savage if we need to'' whereas with BabyMonster I see it as 'we're young but are monster performers with talent that means all of us can do anything - rap, vocal etc'' - just my opinion though 😊 Blackpink haven't left YG - they are just taking a year to do solo activities. They are still under a group contract with YG who said they will have a comeback next year

I think because you're a BLINK you keep comparing them to BP. However, if you take the YG DNA theme back to 2NE1, you can see CL's style in Ruka as well as Big Bang, GD hip hop vibe. They're actually the baby to 2d Gen with monster skills.

5:26 - I don't think this is BLACKPINK coded at all. It is very much BAEMON's "sound". I heard many AI covers of the voices of BLACKPINK with this song, and even if they didn't actually sing the song, it wasn't "theirs". When I first listened to DRIP and even CLIK CLAK I was SHOCKED. It's definitely a sound we haven't heard in a while in my personal opinion. I'm saying that as a KPOP stan since 2018, like trust me, I heard so much coming from that YG basement. This is definitely the group's first step in finding their own sound, considering the fact that they don't have the same producers as BLACKPINK had. Also, for your sake I would stop comparing them to BLACKPINK. They can't earn their own identity if we keep comparing them to their seniors. It's wrong, it's toxic, and let BAEMON finally shine with this comeback that is filled with MANY surprises!

Great reaction. It is so interesting to see the split in reactor reactions to the ending part. The rap focused reactors (just about all men, e.g. Knox Hill) loved the ending and uniformly felt the song NEEDED it. The more vocal focused reactors (all women, e.g. Seoul Connection) didn't care for the ending at all, just like you. I LOVED it. IMO the song needed a strong statement finish and it got it in the typical YG beat switch fashion. This may be tied for my favorite BabyMonster song, with Sheesh. FYI, I typically agree with ALL your comments, but not about the ending of Clik Clak. As for Drip, the members performances were awesome. But the song was better than ok, better than most of their songs, but didn't impress like Sheesh and Clik Clak.

Personally love the ending of click clack, it's gonna be huge in discos and concerts, extremely danceable. Plus, the song was too flat without it, in my opinion, until that switch I wasn't gonna add it in my playlist.

I think it’s YG coded with a mix of 2NE1 and BP but in a good way. GD helped composed Drip. There’s nothing the girls can’t do and they are just beginning. When BP comes back next year they will only break more endless records and I feel like BP wouldn’t be them without YG. Their solos are great but I’m missing their YG vibe MV’s. I would be curious about if Teddy is still gonna compose BP songs now that his label has broken off from YG but if his contract is attached to BP as long as they are active. Great reaction. 😊

I think that’s totally fair what you’re are saying. I think a lot of people without knowing them would hear Sheesh and Drip and think of Blackpink (I love those songs). I’d love to see them go more in an R&B/pop/hip-hop direct of Like That., but still keep that YG swag DNA. Lik Clak is an intro song...start off the album. Without turning it up at the end, it would be boring like a New Jeans song with zero change ups and monotonous. BP with How You Like that also served as an album intro and why the ending of both feel disjointed.

I actually like what you said at the end, but i don't get BP vibes from this just some visuals, i got 2ne1 vibes, but a lot of people only know YG ggs for BP so i wish YG continues doing what they did in the album with more styles and vocal songs, the girls in BM are way more talented as a group than BP or 2ne1 but they need to be guided well to fully express their potential cuz the industry now it's too competitive with groups debuting all the time and a lot of seniors groups active in their prime so they don't have a gap to take advantage of like the 3rd gen groups did.
