This segment from the February 16, 2018, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau’s report on genealogist Zann Nelson’s efforts to identify the Louisiana 16, the sixteen slaves sold by President James Madison to his cousin William Taylor, a plantation owner in Louisiana. Moreau visits the Taylor Plantation and the nearby Little Zion Baptist Church in Pointe Coupee Parish with Nelson to learn more about the connection between these locations, the Louisiana 16 and their descendants.
