Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher and author, born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of 29 a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. He devoted the next several years to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation. With his international bestsellers, The Power of Now and A New Earth-translated into over 52 languages-he has introduced millions to the joy and freedom of living life in the present moment. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”, and Watkins Review has named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world.”
Eckhart’s profound, yet simple teachings have helped countless people around the globe experience a state of vibrantly alive inner peace in their daily lives. His teachings focus on awakening consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking, and can be seen as the next step in human evolution. In the awakened state of presence, we discover what Eckhart describes as our essential identity-who we are beneath the surface-and its power for transforming our selves and our world.

Inner peace is not the absence of conflict, nor the absence of challenge, but rather the capacity to be with what is, in each moment, without prejudice or judgement.

That inner dialogue is relentless. So quickly it appears.. especially if there are mood altering lifestyles and escapes involved. You can get caught off guard. We must be observing as a witness to see a window to reconstruct harmonious thoughts. Investigate why is the baby crying. Why is the adult so unhappy. Practice contentment.

I don't like how is Mr.Tolle denying, completely ignoring existence of certain needs. When i will talk to myself that if i am hungry and dying of it, that this is only concept of ego, will this help me any way? Or i will get in the same situation in next incarnation because i didn't pass this exam? Is strong need of relationship with other human being only creation of conceptual mind? Or is this real given need? Why i feel terrible when missing these contacts only for month, if it is nothing but construction of ego and only "thoughts that are not real me" ? I think that his spiritual concepts are simplified ad absurdum.

This is my third time listening and commenting. I am learning this concept little by little. I have learned not to comment on negative commentary… I just sort of block by imagining Charlie Brown listening to his teacher talk, the voice was always muffled and the words were not enunciated. I am learning to rise above all the negative chatter that comes in from others as well as my own intrusive thoughts. Thank you so much Eckhart you have saved me from much unhappiness and have helped me to go around and over all the obstacles life can place in the way. 🙏💜🙏

Thank you Eckhart Tolle. I have read your books so many times and listened to all your KZbin videos and you have demonstrated to me that Suffering comes from your thoughts and the ego. Observe your thoughts which are not really you and then put your attention and awareness on them, observe them and know they are not you and then they dissipate. Don't resist them. Welcome them and then they go. And then you become consciously aware and then this results in becoming present and in your true self. Thank you.🙏🤗

Lol eckhart makes total sense especially the last part its true i get very unhappy because of the talk in the head its only by recognizing this that you can finally overcome the challenges by seeing them for what they are challenges. Made me laugh i have been one of those thinking well it will be all over soon its nearly done but what is it im waiting for that happy ending lol oh its so simply there is always darkness then light ying and yang up and down one can not exist without the other so while iv had short bursts of happiness i know now that get ready because all thats on its way it the opposite of the challenge lol fab video thank you 3 years still watching you and still learning

This was originally preached and practiced by Sri Ramana Maharishi, an ascetic Hindu saint who lived in South India until 1950s. Eckhart Tolle sometimes quotes the Indian Maharishi in his lectures. Ekhart is genuine, knowledgeable and a masterful communicator. However, his philosophy is not originally his. He is a self-realized Guru and bases what he preaches primarily upon the teachings and practices of the Buddha and early saints and sages of the spiritual Dharma_Yoga traditions of India. Search for inner quietness and equanimity is at the heart of Bhakti Yoga scriptures and meditation goals of Buddhism to achieve the mental state free of ego, or Moksha and Nirvana. He has studied, discovered and acknowledged similar philosophical underpinnings in the Chinese Taoism and even Islamic Sufism. Ekhart is an exceptional translator and proponent of eastern philosophies and traditions for the western audience.

This is so correct! I'm Australian, in 1991 I was on holiday in Austria, looking out a hotel window thinking "I've really made it" then I saw myself in the mirror - I realised, I could run to the other side of the world, but I couldn't run away from myself. "You are not your mind. You are not your intellect. Who you are is not your thoughts. You are not your beliefs. You are not your memories. You are not your conflicts. You are not those things that you identify with. The mystery of who you are exists beyond the reach and the realm of the intellect and beyond the reality of the body. But you are inhabiting this body now. And the intellect is there to help you to navigate this world and to participate here. It is a marvelous vehicle of communication. It is exquisite, profound and capable of doing marvelous things if it is cultivated correctly. But for all students of Knowledge in all traditions, it is necessary to realize the difference between your real nature, your deeper nature, and the makeup of your mind and your system of beliefs, however organized or disorganized they might be. That you live at the surface of the mind and do not know of its depths, its mystery and its true power and abilities-this must be a recognition, or you will think that spirituality is a belief or a system of beliefs. You will think that spiritual practice is about reinforcing ideas, reinforcing beliefs, and, of course, this is tremendously manipulated by government and religious institutions-the manipulation of belief because most people are not yet aware that who they are is not their minds, and so they think that what they think is what they are, and it represents their reality. Your are not your thoughts.Once you are able to break this assumption and this fixation, a whole door begins to open to your inner life, where you will soon experience that you have a greater nature, a deeper nature beyond your thoughts and ideas. Sit still for twenty or thirty minutes, and this will become very apparent to you. It is like the noise on the street-your surface mind-it is crashing and banging and moving and colliding. It is judging, it is comparing, it is fantasizing, it is remembering, it is projecting blame, it is projecting its will. It is doing all this. But if you were to step back from it, to close the doors, to close the windows and go into the inner sanctuary of your home, the sounds of the street would recede and eventually disappear completely. It is like this in your mind. Once you sink below the surface of your mind, you will find there is a greater reality there that you know nothing about, a reality with many levels, and that you have deeper associations here and deeper relationships." quote from the www newmessge org > The Message > Volume 1. The Power of Knowledge > Who you are is not Your Mind
