Welcome to Episode 4 of our 4-Part Caribbean Vlog Series with Azamara Onward. This episode covers Guadeloupe and Tortola.
Guadeloupe, an overseas region of France located in the Caribbean, holds significant historical importance due to its colonization and strategic position in the region. We explored Fort Napoleon on Îles des Saintes' Terre-de-Haut Island, learining about the island's colonial past, as the fort was constructed during the Napoleonic era as a defense against potential invaders. The fortification stands as a testament to the island's military history and its role in protecting the French interests in the Caribbean.
Similarly, Tortola, part of the British Virgin Islands, has its own significance. A walkabout of the harbor area in Tortola offered a brief look at the beauty of the harbor and available nearby shopping from local merchants.
Ended the day at Atlas Bar with ship's Hotel Director and friends, having orchestrated a successful surprise, concluding a very delightful evening!
THE SERIES DOCUMENTS
- Fort Lauderdale: Enjoyed a bit of ship spotting, embarked on Azamara Onward, and experienced the sail away.
- St. Thomas: Explored the waterfront and had lunch at "The Greenhouse".
- St. Maarten: Visited a local artist's shop & museum - Nick Maley’s “That Yoda Guy".
- Barbados: Enjoyed pierside shopping and Azamara's Bajan Carnival Experience, known as the Destination Celebration.
- St. Lucia: Explored the culture of Fond Latisab Creole Park.
- Guadeloupe: Explored Fort Napoleon on Îles des Saintes', Terre-de-Haut Island.
- Tortola: Went for a walkabout of the harbor area, after missing the port of Virgin Gorda, B.V.I. due to weather.

I can see why you made the climb up to the fort. History and amazing views. The goats were cute, too. What a wonderful birthday surprise for Holly. I would love to spend my birthday on a cruise.

The view from the fort was definitely worth the hike up the hill, stunning scenery. Loved the guest appearances by the goats 🐐 What a lovely surprise for Holly’s birthday 🎂 and the food on the chefs table dinner looked fantastic.

🤣🤣 Yes indeed, the goats made a starring appearance. Glad you enjoyed the video… that climb, worth the history and the view! Azamara, should you guys try it, does little things like that for its passengers; they are amazing. I’ve seen Seabourn do similar, but it’s much more expensive, there.
