Discovering My Audience

Know your audience! Write for your readers! Make videos for your niche viewers! There's a lot of this sort of advice for writers and KZbin videographers floating around the Internet. In this scripted vlog, I take a hard look at the sort of texts that I write, and try to describe the audiences I imagine for them. "The conclusion I reach may surprise you!" ( But probably not.) 🙄

It was Oscar Wilde who said "I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train."
Mae West's diary advice was: "Keep a diary and one day it will keep you."

My first question would be, why is it important to know who are you writing for?

I suppose the argument is that knowing your audience "helps you tailor your content to meet their needs and preferences." But this is more relevant for copywriters or "contetn producers". People writing for a commercial purpose.
