The guitar hero stems are one of the best things to happen to the mashup and remix community. Having access to a massive archive of stems across decades of music is a must have for any aspiring mashup and remix artists. Hell I’ve been using them ever since I started, yeah some of the games weren’t the best but having 100gb worth of stems is amazing.

The person you probably want to speak to at Harmonix is Eran Egozy. They started with similar games, Frequency and Amplitude, for the PS2 before plastic instruments became a thing, and focuses more on electronic and dance music. They created both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but publisher Activision acquired their original publisher Red Octane, so Harmonix rebranded the game and both series continued (with Rock Band being published by MTV Game Studios, and Neversoft taking over development of the GH series for Activision).

I used to download the Multitracks of Rockband, play to the songs on drums and record it, go to my mac book and put on my recording of my drums to the multitracks and mute the studio drum track! It was lots of fun! (I always found the multitrack rips sounded way better from the rockband games than the guitar hero games)

And this is why Guitar Hero Van Halen was simultaneously the worst entry and the best entry in the entire series. Garbage visuals and no Michael Anthony but we got the isolated tracks out of it
