Oulu - Finding Your Finnish Sisu

Oulu, Wisconsin is a small town up north full of Finnish descendants. At the Oulu Cultural & Heritage Center you can find the ways people celebrate their culture through teaching, preserving, and celebrating what makes them who they are and where their ancestors came from. Home to one of the largest populations of Finnish people in the state - Oulu has annual events like a summer festival, a fall festival, and a summer school that act like reunions for those who return every year. At these events people learn and share in Finnish building methods, food, goods, historic buildings and artifacts, and even cider squeezing! Come find your Sisu in Oulu.

I live in America and my family came here in the early 1900's from Finland 🇫🇮 .All my life I was taught what SISU is. I've lived my life around it, And It made me who I am today. All Finn's know what it is and We would not be who we are without it.

My grandmother is from Oulu in Finland. 😊 It’s cool to see an Oulu over there in the U.S. as well and cool that people speak Finnish. (I’m a Swede.)
