Once you've seen a few of these episode you realize the characters and scripts Discovery has these guys play. Jerry is always doing some crazy idea for a still. Mike is always stabbing someone in the back. Digger and Mark are the Moonshine Grandadads that have gone legal. Josh is the lovable train wreck. Tickle is the simple minded half wit. Time smith is the backwood hillbilly that never wears a shirt, but owns a legal distillery. Richard is the guy that wants to be everyone's friend but he's always getting knocked down. My wife calls this show my soap opera. I bet everyone of them is nothing like they are paid to portray.

@@richardfoister1877 to be fair what they are doing distilling alcohol and filming a tv show isn’t illegal. You can distill all the alcohol you want and film yourself doing it and it’s not at all illegal.. the only part that’s illegal is selling untaxed liquor which is never shown on the show. You see someone pretending to buy liquor from them but that’s it. It’s all a show, the only thing they are selling is their trade and personality to the discovery channel. This isn’t to say they aren’t moonshiners.. they clearly are. I’m just saying things aren’t exactly as they appear on the surface. They are all members of SAG and pay extremely high income tax on every dollar they make.

I was born in the Moonshine Capital of America, Wilkes County NC. I knew the "Last American Hero, Junior Johnson The NASCAR Super Stars. Many of my family were Moon Shiners. I made Liquor but never sugar head. This is Good Make Believe, and they do a grand job of being Stupid on camera. The contraption they have made is a waste of good copper. Those jars have seals for vaccume, not positive pressure. If that was actual alcohol I'd say have fun blowing yourselves up, but we all know its water.

that floating glass rod they use at 8:28 measures alcohol content by floating lower or higher in the product based on what density it is. alcohol is less dense than water so the rod will sink more the higher the alcohol content. they measure close to 190 which means it had nearly 95% alcohol content. thats some spicy water
