I also put + throw with the keystone, great disc. Surprisingly useful on forehand once i got used to the release.

I’m with you on throwing and putting putters. I used to putt and throw with Maidens and I got a base Luna for throwing. Hated throwing the Luna (too smooth a shape, numbers way off) but loved the beadless design and grippy stiff plastic for putting. Meanwhile I have persisted with Maidens for throwing and I have realised that I also appreciate that bead. A have Hyzerbomb Tanks in different stages of wear if I need to throw something more wind resistant.

You should give some AGL molds a throw and a review. Great small up and coming company with some awesome plastic and molds. Thanks for the great reviews, I can always trust to find the reviews I need from you and know its gonna be a useful video.

I just won a Link in a tournament 4 weeks back. I put my OG champ rhyno away and have been putting with it and love it. Same color too. It wants to go straight and really grabs the chains. A sticky putter is essential I'm seeing. My rhyno was good but didn't grab like this. Great review. I've been to a couple of those courses. 😁

I have two pures (1 zero soft, 1 zero medium), and now I brought a Keystone (zero medium) that I begin to use today, they seem very similar, but until now I didn't find a comparison, does anyone know of some comparison?
@DiscGolfNerd2 жыл бұрын
I talk about the Keystone a bit in my Eco Pure review I think but if you own them both why do you need a comparison vid? Could just test them and see for yourself. Pures have a little more left fade when putting and I find them to be more neutral overall when throwing compared to the keystones.
@albertoquagliaroli42302 жыл бұрын
@@DiscGolfNerd I tried the Keystone yesterday and today, for now I tend to throw it too much on the right (o it's it that flies so), like it happens with the softer Pure (not with the harder Pure). But probably it's a problem of smoothness of the surface, smoother in the harder Pure than in the softer one and in this Keystone, so I realise them too late.

When I test a putting putter, I bring the old disc and putt both side by side to compare in a round one putt with new then one old putter at same putt spots where I would be putting. The older putter there is often reasons why I did not like the first putter. In the case of the Rubber Putter it was too much glide. In the case of the Putt'r they needed to make the disc in a regular Pro D not an old first run in the Soft X tbhat the mold gets a slight concave when it beaks in thus loosing almost all of its glide and yes I do not like the Pole Cat as that mold despite being nearly the same depth has that sharp 90 degree corner I do not like without any rounding to the disc. Then the Magnet I found in 2007 using my brothers old stiff pre 2006 Pro D Magnet and have stuck with that since. Yeah I could use a Clutch but those are a bit faster speed 3 and have less glide then I want. I did get right as the plastic type was stopped for the mold a Proline Titanic with a few backups for a premium Magnet since the Magnet in Jawbreaker is not great for tight gap /tight situations where hitting something is a possibility and the Proline can handle the wind better for those days. If I did switch putters I would look to the modern Hydra disc in R-Pro since the mold has a Magnet like rim but is OS the way a Classic Roc is what I wanted for a driving putter is but went oop in 2005 when I first got to try the mold from a Disc Golf player I know, hence why I use a Shark for my Driving putter slot since the Hydra with same flight is not comfortable for a power putter drive using my midrange hand grip.

@Disc Golf Nerd - Do you have any recommendations for content that covers the physics of what differentiates discs and their flight paths? I'm a recent convert from ultimate frisbee, where the frisbee "is what it is." Therefore, flight paths in ultimate are altered by the grip, release angle, etc. I imagine there should be a basic correlation with flight ratings and certain rim shapes, weight placement, etc, but that information seems beyond common knowledge, even for the "pros." AKA, it's strange seeing the top disc golf players in the world only able to predict the flight path of a disc based off of the printed flight ratings, whereas pro ultimate players, for example, will know the appropriate throws? I would have expected these players to have a more detailed understanding of the shapes that dictate flight paths, etc. But, perhaps that level of detail just isn't practical, at any level of play?
@DiscGolfNerd3 жыл бұрын
You can look into things like rim width dictating speed or the parting line of a disc determining overall stability but there is no way to really know until you throw a disc. Flight numbers are just a guideline to give you a basic idea of what a disc is supposed to do since disc Golf has an enormous variety of discs while ultimate uses only one style. But wear, plastic, weight, shape of the flight plate, course elevation etc can all alter the natural flight of a particular golf disc. Disc golf requires a huge amount of different shot shapes. Ground play is hugely important and also determines disc choices at times. In my experience pro players actually care very very little for flight numbers. They are taken far more seriously by hobby and amateur level players in my opinion and experience. Pro players just know the shots they are looking to produce and find the discs to fit them I would imagine. Going off of testing, general knowledge of popular models, or perhaps consulting fellow pros and friends in Disc golf.

@@DiscGolfNerd Thank you for the great response. That's how I imagine it works for the pros - mostly playing by feel. I imagine the calculations actually aren't based on repeat throws in a highly controlled environment with engineers and disc-throwing robots, but rather from the feedback of professional-level players.
@DiscGolfNerd3 жыл бұрын
Yah there's no controls or standards involved whatsoever as far as I know. People involved in manufacturing throw them and give feedback and they decide on numbers. I am also fully convinced at this point that sometimes a disc is intentionally just made to have the same numbers as another popular disc to try and create a competitor to it. All of this is why I've worked hard for years to create disc reviews based on honest real world observations and testing so players can get more info than just flight numbers before they purchase a disc. But as always your results may vary based on many different factors.
I'm surprised I missed this video. It isn't incredible technically-specific, but it seems relevant enough to understand a pro's general knowledge.

Wow, I have so many questions, I might do the same switch! 1st: Is the zero medium plastic harder than the soft magnet? I'm a bit uncomfortable with the top deforming a bit on my soft magnet when I put fingers under it, and with the thumb on top. Should I go for zero hard? (I want it grippy though)
@DiscGolfNerd3 жыл бұрын
Soft Magnets can vary for sure but yes I'd say the zero medium has less overall flexibility and give under the thumb. I think Medium is the way to go but you may also wanna try a Retro to see what you think. If you try them and dislike them just message me and maybe I'll trade ya for em.

@@aaronmayhew2.0 Actually If you have the front index finger fitting in the concave part of the rim the Magnet/Titanic is really comfortable. Throwing Magnet's/Titanic's is going to be for me rather uncomfortable in the hand.
