I will request to have him removed as the administrator or take them to court. it is not going to cost much. I have my place in Cartagena and is looking for another spot in Barranquilla. Definitely a stand alone in a gated community. A stand alone house outside of that is dangerous even for the locals. Better to have that extra layer of protection especially when you’re traveling .

It had nothing to do with race at all. There’s plenty of Afro Colombians here!! I think it was solely due to me being a gringo, and I had a lot of workers here upgrading my entire house.

Im Colombian but have been raised in the USA and currently live here; tbh I woulndt have taken it down there is not much they can do; since courts/police is not very effective; maybe that's why the other roofs are there, the owners said fuck it. now If your the tourist making parties, and bringing people all the time then maybe thats why they are trying to make your life impossible and tbh I dont blame them if that is the case. Now to be fair the US is way worst in that sense, to build anything in your property not only does it cost 10 times more but you have to ask for a ton of permits and adhere to the materials, dimensions, etc they want thats even if they let you do it. and if we talk about discrimination you can find that everywhere it is more about each individual than a country as a whole I am american citizenship I have no accent yet have been told I shluld go back to my country, sell drugs, being asked if I'm part of a cartel, etc . thats the reality of living abroad my friend I can assure you that would happen to you everywhere in the world.

Im Colombian, and I want to tell you where you were wrong brother. 1) you don't let no one to tell you what to do in ur property. 2) You just had to stand up and fight it. 3) don't feel bad and sell bc you are American and are in other country. I don't think this is about discrimination, is jealousy, and at the end of the day the law wouldn't never done nothing about it. as long you have everything legal and pay ur property taxes nothing else wouldn't happened. Colombia has worse problem to resolve than listen to a jealous idiot. I have a small apt building all rentals and my neighbors around me always threading me with cops and attorneys and you know what I said to them?
