George ended up playing a brilliant bass line for this song on his telecaster. That bass line is what makes this song great.

George is speaking masterfully. James Paul McCartney (1942-1966) was the bass. He was the one who picked up the bass after Stu. When Paul died, the bass was shortly gone And since Billy/William isn't really a part of The Beatles, they were missing the bass. That's what George masterfully told us about. Look at Billy's memoirs.

Not any this point in the Beatles. Especially that being Paul. There had been several problems with the others in regards to arrangements to Paul’s songs. So anything he said. Even if it was legitimate his opinion. They took it the wrong way and it almost always led to trouble. That’s why for instance George left the Beatles in EP2. Because of a comment paul made. So in general he can. Not at that point in time in the Beatles

Just curious, if not ego, why would George need to get a stroke when he stepped out of his normal guitar part? Why would any of them? They all played multiple instruments. Paul , for example, is said to have played/ can play 45 instruments, there are some instances where it might be cited, but, most of those are in the notes from the sessions. I don't hear a lot of people saying. Oh, yeah, John played lead on Get Back. It's likely only really dedicated fans were aware of that until the recent resurrection of the Get Back sessions and documentaires.

Im here to say that Jesus deeply loves the person reading this and everything will be okay if you trust him as savior. He's coming back soon to take his people home in the prophesied event of the rapture (1 Thess. 4:16-17). Its time to get right with God. Good deeds and clean living do not take you to heaven but faith in Jesus will. (Acts 16:31, Rom. 10:9-10, John 3:16) Good people don't go to heaven, forgiven people do. in the get back movie, in the café, where Paul and John were having a private conversation, there was the microphone hidden in the plant right in front of them, and you can hear Lennon telling McCartney “I go along with a lot of stuff i don’t like with you, just to avoid arguments.“ thank God, that Lennon and Harrison had that edge. McCartney famously said that he spent decades apologizing to George Harrison.

Seems like Paul was tryin to pull a fast one and "leave the bass off" until he could overdub his own bassline..instead George played a lick on guitar that was low enough to be the bass and probably added more than any line played on a bass would of.

There is a almost 2 hour long compilation of some of the different versions of this song that they rehearsed here on You Tube. It initially started off as a very fast and sloppy song that sounded a lot like Sergeant Pepper’s lonely hearts club band. Each version became more and more like what’s on the final version. There’s even more versions in the get back documentary. It’s kind of messed up that John and Paul got all the publishing for writing these songs when George and Ringo were writing all of their own parts. You can hear George’s bass notes on this clip.
