The catspaw isn't too difficult to figure out, when it happens only a very small amount of characters know it happened, everyone from winterfell is obviously out not one of them would hurt bran, lysa could potentially know depending on where her "rider in the night" was during the fall but the rider would have had no way to get the dagger to be the catspaw. Jamie would have killed bran himself, cersei was opposed to hurting bran in general, and Robert would never harm a Stark knowingly. The hound would have killed bran himself if it was his doing, as would most the kingsguard. This really only leaves tyrion, and the 3 lannister bastards, since we hear tyrions thoughts on the matter we can say with 100% certainty it wasn't him, mycella wouldn't do it a tommen was too upset about his fall. Joffery is presented as an option with decent evidence given by Jamie and cersei as to why and this is several books later so it isn't the first option given. It's most likely joffery unless littlefinger somehow knew about the fall which he couldn't have so quickly let alone also got a catspaw to posses Robert's dagger in that short of time. If both tyrion and Jamie arrive at the conclusion it was joffery separately I have to agree it's most likely him.

Your forgetting one other important character in winterfell at the time who could have done it and escaped both jamie and tyrions eye. Mance Raider. Man was at winterfell at the time of fall, is on record thinking cripples should be killed, and had a pouch of silver on him just like the one the cats paw had. The only difficult thing is figuring out how he got the Dagger

Mance was scouting out Winterfell ahead of the upcoming invasion of The North. If he could cause strife between the Lannisters and Starks, two Houses well known for having beef with each other, and a war broke out between them, he would have an easy invasion of The Wall and The North itself with all of Ned Stark's armies and bannermen fighting south of Moat Cailin. What better motive than attempting to murder a child of the host's house while he is living there?

@@manband20 but one of the spear wives greatly respected Ned, I don't see why mance would think to try and kill bran, though the use of the fire as a distraction is in mances wheelhouse he lacked the means to hire said killer, the other issue I have is Robert's dagger being used, mance isn't an idiot any logical person wouldn't use a weapon that wasn't directly tied to the lannisters, had littlefinger not lied or had Cat or Ned asked someone else they'd have learned it was Roberts, that's a whole different can of worms, it wouldn't put the starks past moat caylin the entire north would rally agaisnt the crown and have to hold the north. Making mances job harder. Just my 2 cents on the matter but killing a crippled, unconscious kid doesn't feel like a mance thing to do. He was there for recon if the catspaw had been caught instead of killed he'd have been sold out and they'd have learned who he really was fairly quickly.

Pretty much I imagine. It's not a high mortality because they are Targareayns, it's simply due to their own dynasty's actions. Historically the Targaryeans see themselves as special, their blood and their connection to dragons has brewed this family to see themselves as superior, and the incest is a result of wanting to maintain this bloodline pure and keep their family special as they see it. I know some Targ stans will argue that incest isn't just in their family and claim it's normal, like yeah of course it happens in other families. But it's not a normal thing in Westeros not at all. Their high mortality rate is just the result of years of generational incest, and their own views of their superiority wiped out their entire family dynasty in a number of hundreds of years whereas no other major Westerosi family has had that issue. Targs aren't special, their just ill and infertile.

At some point in the past the Targs had to choose between plural marriages and incest marriages because the FO7 wouldn’t let them do both so plural marriages are no longer considered legitimate. A king could still legitimise him, but he’d have to find a king willing to do that who everyone saw as an authority figure

Thought that popped into my head re: simultaneous long nights. If the white walkers wanted to get from the heart of winter to essos, surely they could freeze the waters in front of them and make an ice bridge all the way? Seems like it's implied that they could make things just that cold, and imo is a lot cooler than the continents normally being connected. Makes the icy bois even more intimidating

Even the sheperd's daughter (if really killed by Drogon) left a corpse to be shown. Also they clearly don't just "combust" any flesh with their breath, otherwise what would the eat? Sunfyre "bathed her in a blast of flame before closing his jaws around her arm and shoulder" when killing Rheanyra, so clearly there's flesh and bone to be left behind, Sunfyre being older than Rhaegal.

Glidus, I've got an Idea. i never look through reddit or anywhere for already existing theories, but here it goes. Do you think that the faceless men powers can be combined with Aria's warging powers? Also full disclosure this idea is probably dumb, but its fun. So anyways, as i was saying, Aria learns to use the faces, learns to literally become someone else in the spooky-wooky way that the faceless men do. Given that they become someone else, would Aria be able to basically warg into a person without them knowing, or reacting in the way that happens when someone else tries to take over. Because she wouldn't be trying to control that person, she would "wear them" and in a sense become them in presence, and basically be there in the way a bystander would be, just watching. and then you think well wait hold on that's quite insane, but then you think again, and Aria basically already does a similar thing with cats because she isn't trying to control them, just seeing through their eyes. So can that practice then be extrapolated and combined with the faceless men capability to become someone else on the drop of a dime. So that when Aria does this, the person feels something off momentarily, but it quickly fades away like a shadow that suddenly spooked them. You know, in the way which Aria is characterized. Am i crazy or does this kinda make alot of sense? I will also be dropping this to swifty, but i don't think he will see it.
