Well done! I like the ending quote. "Modern architecture is not fantasy." And that's why one feels grounded, at peace and connected to nature in a Cliff May designed house.

If you go to: 1958 OLDSMOBILE 88 FIESTA WAGON COMMERCIAL you can see a chrome laden Olds Wagon pulling up to what I believe is Cliff May's personal residence (0:31), that was demolished in the 80's. Sometimes it pays to be a classic car nut & a Cliff May fan!

This is the May Residence in Los Angeles, but he built many houses with his signature look.

@Karasamune Also keep in mind that not all american architecture is designed by american architects, vice versa with european architecture. Look at the Dancing House in Prague for example. That was designed by a famous american architect, Frank Ghery. And I'm fairly certain that's been the same case with a lot of the architecture in our country as well. It's a mixed bag, architects aren't limited to where their work is produced (though most of those architects are well known and famous.) :o

I found this video after seeing Julius Schulman's photos of this house. I would like to string up Barry Berkus and Jaclyn Shor, if they are the ones responsible for coating the interior in cream-colored paint. Thee rafter and other supports were originally black, and the floor tiles were neither white nor set at 45 degrees. What a crying shame.

@LuSwGr Well, I guess it all depends on preference. I tend to tie in the architectural style with the designer rather than the country, but hey, each country DOES actually have it's own style in a sense.
@Karasamune13 жыл бұрын
@LuSwGr I can agree that this building isn't so great -- but honestly, don't bring cultural superiority into it. Regardless, Berkus makes some amazing structures. What makes it so amazing is not just the build itself, but how the build flows with its surroundings.
