We returned to Disfrutar in Barcelona to experience the Living Table concept. I don't mean to be dour because for a long time, I'd wished for this kind of in-depth content around fine dining around the world -- traveling via the click of a button. I'm delighted to get a peek behind the curtains, but feeling oddly sad after watching this now, sitting with the feeling that there are few surprises left in the world. You can sit on your couch and watch every step of the experience of one of the best restaurants on Earth, shown in 1080p detail -- the flavor of every dish described, every trick explained, every surprise exposed. It seems like such a big part of experiencing this restaurant is in the unknown. Unfortunately this video makes me want to go less, in a way -- not more. In the sense that I'd desire more mystery from my next splurgy fine dining meal than I could now ever have with Disfrutar after watching this. Thankful I got to go to Noma a decade ago before these kinds of videos and highlights were so accessible -- I wouldn't have been able to help myself. And glad I couldn't anticipate every dish coming my way. I'll keep watching the channel, but think a bit more before I click to decide if I want everything revealed like it is here.
