My favorite part about this episode is when I saw it for the first time at around 10-11 (I know, I shouldn't have been watching it) I actually didn't understand that the flag was racist. I didn't even really know what racism was, or what the whole undertone of the episode was with the KKK and all that, and when the kids asked what was the issue with the flag if not the violence, I genuinely had the same question, then Chef's answer surprised me just as much. Old clisché saying, but it show it's true: Kids are not racist, people teach them to be racists.

Sadly the The return of Chef really has a sad background, it was a revenge since they tought Isaac (chef’s VA) left the show because of the scientologie episode but after his death, news came out that while he was unresponsive due to medical problem, the church quitted in his regard. So knowing that the creators dont really like this one, RIP to Isaac Hayes, i know ill always remember him from Chef ✌️

I remember when I was a kid watching this and proposed on the internet that colourblindness was the ultimate goal (a world where race isn't recognised similar to the kids defending the flag under the impression that killing was the issue) and it got allot of people angry. I think the issue is that the world we live in, the concept of "colourblindness" often comes across as "racism has never hurt me so let's all just pretend it doesn't exist". It'll probably takes many generations before this is ever a viable reality... Assuming humans can overcome their own ignorance which is probably not happening anytime soon. 😂

I love the commentary in this episode. Any known human could tell what’s wrong with the flag and the “It’s history” sort of falters if you know what’s wrong about it. Cartman had a point that even though technically Nazi Germany is history, they don’t allow stuff from that era to stay. Also the fact that the entire town is indecisive to the point it’s annoying truly stands. They see the problem but there is always something not making them choose a side.
