I just have to say that mages are the best, they can hit a 3x3 area and have the longest range. Thief is probably the most interesting class they have 100% hit and have a few status effects (although there are mobs that are immune to status effects).

Apparently while I wasn't paying attention, Disgaea 2 became a thing. Generally speaking each Disgaea gets more difficult than the previous one, although depending on the method, powergrinding can happen in different ways which kind of defeats the difficulty increase. For D2, for some it might not matter, and stuff like Cave of Ordeals is technically postgame anyway. The felony system is honestly just a major pain, and the dark world maps are generally either with stats, or brains (tactics and/or setup), neither of which are easily done until postgame. I don't quite recall the balance of generics vs story characters, but D2 is a major step up from D1 in terms of generics that's for sure. Story wise D2 is fine. From a personal standpoint I find Adell and Rosalin a bit hard to use as far as main characters go, and the others aren't much better. Again, with the games how they are, anything past the final boss is going to be a big difficulty spike (and there isn't really a postgame proper like in D3 onwards). While the story is fine, I'm of the opinion that the others (maybe excluding D3) have better stories, but that's just my opinion. There is Axel mode, but it's not really super amazing or anything. I guess there is. Still waiting for D3 and D4 on the PC, hmm. And DD2 and D5 as well, but what can I say.

Those "Summoning Experiments" is DLC stuff just like in Disgaea 5 that you've did. Save it for Post Game. Hope that this is not a Story Spoiler. And I'm waiting for a remake for 3-4 on Steam so I can complete the series then wait for Disgaea 5 to hit on Steam as well.

Some may add a side-story to the actual game story, kinda confusing I know. But I'm not going to spoil it, but for gameplay wise it's best to be level 100 or higher. Trust me, you need to be that high and a max Rune Knight class is a MUST to beat these "Summoning Experiments" it makes things go faster. There is a lvl spot to grind to get both Job and Character EXP, but that is later on in the main game. That is all you need to know. If you need more I'm here to help you out on Game play.

Yeah, I forgot which ones, but there is 2 or 3 of those DLC side quests you need to avoid since they're Over Powered like you need to be level 250 or higher. A YTber named HCBailly has an LP for it if you need to get some tips.

Really? I find the fourth game to be the weak point of the series. The characters are great but the writing was really lacking. Every joke is repeated ad nauseum and the themes are just too soul-crushingly bleak for a Disgaea game. It doesn't help that Valvatorez is a static character...

yah but personally i didnt like the characters until 4 and didnt like the whole cast till 5 everygame before that is either didnt like (2) to extremely didnt like (1) with 3 being somewher in between.

just that with a very character driven series like disgaea i didn't really like the cast till 4 so i couldn't get much enjoyment out of the games until 4 came along and then i ended up liking the characters. though i would say 5 is the best

5 is really good, although I think 3 defines what a Disgaea game is to me: comedy, plot, a touch of sadness, and readily abusable mechanics.
