The reality is they couldn’t care less, we’ve served our purpose working and paying tax and NI for 50 years. Why are the British Politicians claiming expenses on their Electric and Gas bills and not giving those pensioners who cannot afford their power bills help with theirs. Some pensioners can pay their bills. While others on the poverty line cannot. I can afford to pay my bills, while those on the poverty line cannot. And where are they going to move to? Rents are way above the monthly pension, flats are as expensive as houses to buy, and on multiple floors, often without a reliable lift. Retirement homes and assisted living homes are full. Families rarely have the room to take them in.

What are politicians using for brains? Why should a millionaire be entitled to a state pension? That doesn't make any sense. Why not reserve the state pension scheme for those below a prescribed income level , who genuinely need it? The state pension could then be increased so that winter fuel allowance would be no longer needed.
