It was bad enough before covid but these people should have learned basic hygiene since then!

Its also terrible that a lot of people will swatch and use product and then put it on the shelf for someone else to buy. Nowadays stores are so understaffed. They don't have the resources to stop this from happening. I used to work in retail and I can say I saw so many people do this, I approached them to educate them and they flipped out and yelled at me. Listen to the staff, check your makeup before buying it and dont support brands that sell unsealed product. Shop smart, stay safe.
@lucyjane38032 жыл бұрын
I worked in Boots and people not only used testers to do a full face but opened and used products ALL the time. I honestly cannot believe Superdrug sponsored that video and are encouraging it. I wouldn't buy any beauty product off the shelf anymore unless it was completely sealed, I only buy online fresh from the warehouse 😅 And as for testers, I'd rather risk the wrong shade than whatever diseases are in those things 🤢

"Surface colour is different from undertone" THANK YOU! @mus1quenonst0p2 жыл бұрын
for a lot of people, finding their undertone is a real struggle. i am still working to find my “true undertone”. it doesn’t help that foundation ranges don’t use color correctly. they often throw in these strange tones, and slap cool/warm/neutral on the label and call it a day. some ranges all pull so yellow that, even if you have neutral skin, you can think you’re cool-toned because it’s just the least yellow option. and, to top it off, there is no consistency between brands!

Speaking as a makeup artist that worked at Sephora years ago, I can attest to the fact that using testers is not only disgusting, but also that people do some crazy things with them. 😳 I once saw a girl come in when I was stocking product, I asked if I could help her with something and she said no and that she was just browsing. I went back to stocking and figured my manager would try to sell her something once she got back from her break in the next minute or so. But then when she did come back, I all of a sudden heard her go, “MAAM. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Please stop!” I turn around, and this girl is LITERALLY LICKING various liquid lipstick wands to figure out “which one tasted the best.” 🤦🏻♀️ We always tried to stop people anytime they were using the wands/applicators in testers or directly applied to products to their face in unsanitary ways. We also tried our best to sanitize our testers and stuff. But once someone for example, uses a liquid lipstick tester and uses the wand it came with instead of one of the disposable ones, there’s only so much you can do. Which I found out the hard way. I was always iffy about using the testers at work. But one day I tried out this new liquid lipstick that was basically calling my name 😂, and guess what happened? I ended up with both the flu AND pneumonia AT THE SAME TIME. Which I actually had no idea you could have both at the same time when I was younger. 🤷🏻♀️ And then within the span of a month, ALL of my coworkers and even managers ended up also getting sick. So hearing about all those things in this video were most definitely #relatable. 😂

My thoughts exactly! It still amazes me seeing people wet their brush and then pick up shadow. Smh to each their own but I spend way too much on makeup to ruin it doing dumb things like that. There is a reason it says on the package to store in a cool DRY place as well. Not only will it cause hard pan but it will also cause mold/mildew faster and your palettes will expire much sooner. When I see someone complain about these things happening to their palette in a short amount of time but also say they never clean their brushes and also use them wet I’m like well no duh.

I 10000% agree, the “doing my makeup for free until I get caught” scheme is really disgusting on multiple levels. First of all, it’s just tasteless and very tacky. Secondly, just buy the makeup for Gods sake, I saw a woman going around to multiple stores doing this every day as her everyday makeup. Sounds annoying and cheesy but that makeup brand/ store is losing profit because you want to make a stupid Tiktok video. Robert already covered the hygienic issues of it. I worked at the Body Shop over 10 years ago. People did this. They would come in, before they went to work at the mall, and put in a full face of make up. I would tell them about the bacteria buildup on the applicators. I offered them sterile application sponges. They never took me up on that. Hundreds of people were using these products on their faces- mascara included, every week. I wasn’t trying to get them to buy the products. I cleaned the make up area every day. It’s gross. So much dirt/oil accumulates on the packaging and make up area, imagine what is transferred into your skin. Yuck!

I know I’m finally learning good information when I finally know what you’re about to say about the videos you’re reacting to before you even get a chance to say it! Thank you for that!🥺🥰

I am mortified that someone is advocating going into a store and using products like that. Hygiene issues aside, this is tantamount to theft and that young person is awfully cavalier about it. Physically and morally gross.

This is my PSA to you all. I had an esthetician use a tester concealer to cover redness after a brow waxing. I ended up with a skin infection that took antibiotics, cream, dermatologist, etc. It's not worth it! It was an expensive mess.

I wouldn’t want makeup on my face after having it waxed because waxing can cause micro tears

Hallo, your makeup is stunning ! I am so out raged by that guy. I have taken pictures of people and told them they are horrible 💩 and given pictures and products to employees. I know very Karen, it is just a hygiene thing and hate to see someone suffer from this. Love you channel ❤️

I argue with people all the time on Reddit about color matching because so many seem to think they are an olive undertone for some reason and usually they actually have a pink undertone and so many others don’t understand it either but are so confident they do 🤦♀️. Blows my mind 😂

That is why I cannot touch makeup that is sitting out in a store. I just cannot do it, won’t do it, it creeps me out. Shade match? Not using stuff sitting out for the public. I would rather purchase the wrong shade honestly. Thanks Robert! ❤️

I am an artist and I can say from color theory that black blocks the light so when you cover it with a lighter color you will get that black sucking away the natural translucency of skin. White or very light color dulls hues. Yes, they become tints but if you want great color don't mix light colors to get it. Buy a pure color in your hue so that you are again keeping the translucency and pure hue.

I saw that Superdrug ad recently and it really got on my nerves. When I was a kid I went into Superdrug and security was kicking these women out. He told us they were homeless and would come in and do their makeup with the testers all the time. Now Superdrug are advertising that? Encouraging it? Why weren’t those homeless women allowed to use the testers but this kid who I’m sure can afford any makeup he likes is being told to do his whole routine from “testers” (although they were almost certainly new, unopened products for the ad).
