I live in Margate, Kent and a few years ago a squad car ran into the back of a council dust cart, and the Kent Air Ambulance was called to take the injured officer to a hospital 40 miles away, while a large section of Margate was closed off for what I was told by a brusque WPC was a major incident, which turned out to be a minor injury to the injured officer who could have walked to QEQM if necessary (about 1 mile away) or been taken to the Whitstable Minor Injuries Unit which is about 10 miles away, or even better still someone could have popped in to the Tesco Express just across the road and bought a box of plasters to solve the issue. How fecking pathetic is that? It is sadly a true story.

It’s not to do with them challenging auditors, that’s understandable. The problem (for me, anyway) is their attitude, the swagger, the chest-puffing, the attempt at domination in their approach. They act - literally - like their primary purpose is to oppress. The Police are NOT there to allow us to use the streets at their discretion and should only interfere and start getting interested if someone is breaking the law or needs their particular help in some way! I see no breaking of the law here. What I do see, IMHO, is a Police Constable with a very sloppy attitude and manner whilst talking to the Public, whom they are there to PROTECT AND SERVE.
