okay, last edit on this pinned message: a lot of non-regular twitch viewers join twitch streams on livestream days and that can sometimes lead to a chaotic environment, and it definitely did in this controversial livestream day where I also had a mix of opinions. So while many of the topics were worth discussing, the tone / manner of speech of many chatters is not the type that I am proud of. Ultimately I would rather not broadcast that hyper-negative attitude on one of my channels, that's why it has been covered! I'm also aware that a lot of you will not agree with my perspective on a lot of points, and I am fine with that! i've responded to a few important ones but probably won't be past this point. Feel free to discuss in comments but KEEP IT RESPECTFUL. TY.

It was majestic and I had shivers down my spine! Plus, I think chat are all probably self diagnosed with ADHD, but the reality is that they are just... not that smart and probably too impatient. It's like no one has any patience anymore and watch too many short things like tiktok and KZbin shorts. They can't comprehend anything that's more than 10 minutes long, I swear. Then they ask stupid questions that were already answered in the livestream, but due to having selective hearing and goldfish level attention spans, they missed it. Some additional clarification about the Capturing Radiance. They have clarified that if you get the Rate Up character via Capturing Radiance it resets you to 0 regarding the guarantee. The statement about "not interfering with the guarantee" was simply a poorly worded way of indicating that the guarantee system still exists and isn't being replaced with this new system. This new system is basically just an automatic reroll that occurs when you lose a 50/50. The net effect of it is just that the rate for 5 Star Characters when you don't have a guarantee is 55/45 instead of 50/50. Mechanically, the way that it functions is that you roll a 50/50, lose the 50/50, THEN AND ONLY THEN the system rolls a 1/10 to see if Capturing Radiance will trigger. If you win the 50/50, then Capturing Radiance won't even trigger to do the 1/10 reroll. When you lose the 50/50, the system will trigger a 1/10 reroll which will trigger a special "Capturing Radiance" animation when you win the 1/10. Capturing Radiance will convert your lost 50/50 into a win, giving you the Rate Up 5 Star character. If you lose the 1/10, Capturing Radiance will not trigger and you will be considered as having "lost" the 50/50, giving you a guarantee on your next 5 Star Character. Getting the 5 Star Character, whether by winning the 50/50, triggering Capturing Radiance, or having a guarantee, will reset any guarantee that you might have. In practice, simply think of it as a 5% increase in the likelihood of getting a Rate Up 5 Star. The entire special animation and "Capturing Radiance" system is basically just convoluted branding and psychological manipulation. It is them specifically showing IN GAME when the extra 5% rate is what made you get the character. The banner is effectively 50% Win, 45% Lose, 5% Win with Fancy Animation. Beyond that, how it is mechanically functioning in the backend is not actually relevant to players. It is not practically any different than if they had simply said "The Rate Up banner is now a 55/45 instead of a 50/50."
@bestieawesomeness3 ай бұрын

@ClownDollThatHasContemptForYou3 ай бұрын
The way Capturing radiance works from what I understood so far is that , in a 50/50, if you lose the 50/50, there is a second calculation that occurs that's 10/90 in terms of chances, this means that each 50/50 from now on becomes a 55/45, if you win it you just get the limited 5*, if you lose it, and you win the capturing radiance calculation,you get the limited 5* ,if you lose both, you get a standard 5*. Because of how this works, some people have been wondering if losing the 50/50 but getting the capturing radiance event (as in winning the 10/90) means that you still get a guarantee because technically you lose your 50/50,it sounds believable because the chance of that happening is very low,but it's probably not? we'll see. Edit: it's been clarified that getting the capturing radiance event will reset your pity.

I feel like people don’t consider the possibility that Hoyo employees don’t have anything against more color, but that doesn’t change the fact they live in a country that does and are surrounded by a community that has called their government to try and ruin the company for far less controversial issues. Like I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe there’s a few bad eggs in the company, but this is also the same company that dances lightly with lgbt stuff in their games while maintaining plausible deniability. I just think it’s 10 times harder to do that with skin tone for obvious reasons. They aren’t a western company with the exact same consequences and freedom to make certain things as they please. I would love more people that look like me but I get that it’s probably not as simple or as safe to do so.

Considering live action Mulan was shot right by a "re-education camp" where they take non-CN citizens and strip them of their religious and/or indigenous cultures, it's kinda like asking for representation in a company from...1920s-1940s Germany? 1800s-early to mid 1900s USA? Add in Hoyo being considered legally by the CN gov as a "cultural export," Da Wei or one of the devs having to be part of the gov because of how big their company got, etc, and yeah. They might be technologically the same as other countries, but they are very much behind by at least a hundred to two hundred years in term of civil law and education there.

'growing up, any 90s-00s telenovelas and local programming would have actors with pale skin, maaaaybe light tan, dark hair and hazel/green/blue eyes. all mostly Mexican or maybe latino actors/actresses, but still ones with obviously more Spanish than indigenous traits. from what I've heard, south east Asia is just as bad if not worse with their beauty standards/colorism so i just couldn't see it, especially in a 'pretty anime game'. obviously, i would still love it if they did end up adding more obviously POC playable characters because i really do think representation is important and we can all benefit from seeing more diverse casts in media. but i most admit i also dont have lots of energy by keeping myself angry over it. hoyoverse would need to do something affecting the real world for me to put energy towards a boycott (like funding warcrimes or 'hiring' foreign workers and not paying them fairly) i can see why some people do care, but i just personally dont have leftover energy after getting home from work to care too deeply over the game i use to destress with. for the people that do care tho, all the more power to you and i truly seriously hope that hoyoverse takes more steps towards a better, more diverse game

I think the whole skin colour thing is an interesting situation. While I would absolutely love more representation and variety in Genshin in this way, I don’t know if I feel like the outrage directed at Hoyoverse over this is justified. I remember the conversation about skin colour being mentioned all the way back in Liyue and Inazuma. Sumeru was where it really became prominent and then naturally Natlan seems to be getting the most heat over this given its inspiration, no pun intended 😉 In my mind Teyvat is a fictional world that can draw as much, or as little inspiration from real world cultures as it likes. Music is incredible and does the most in this sense. World design is a close second. Skin colour is nonexistent in this sense. Hoyoverse have remained consistent in keeping all their characters varying shades of white / lightly tan in their skin tone, and I think as long as they remain consistent with their fictional world / character design in this aspect, I don’t see a problem or secondary negative motive from Hoyoverse to choose this design path.
@staryxmoonlit2 ай бұрын
The main problem I have with the characters, or rather one character in particular, is that when you make a character based off of a nigerian deity (olorun, or ororon as they named him in genshin) that people still worship to this day white, it’s kinda crossing the line. I can understand that cultures don’t necessarily have a specific skin tone a lot of the time, disrespecting a god people worship (not me personally) to this day is kinda crazy, but not much we can do about it I suppose, still think it sucks tho
@ozone88392 ай бұрын
@@staryxmoonlit I can understand that, it’s definitely a puzzling decision by Hoyoverse to make everyone white. My best guess is the Chinese consumer base is driving this decision. I’m pretty sure the names are just that though. They might take inspiration from the culture, but I don’t think Olorun / Ororun in Genshin is actually a god or Claiming to be a Nigerian deity. Seems like they’re just a Natlan native with a vision. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Olorun has a gender, race, or any physical characteristics in the Yoruba religion either. My question I guess is, would you rather their names be generic white person names? I feel like that would be even more insulting given they’re all based in Natlan? I feel like this is such a tricky situation because it sounds like people are saying, you either represent all of a culture in a fantasy world or non of it. Which sounds ridiculous to me and actually more damaging to representation. I wouldn’t want fantasy authors down the line to feel like they have to omit all cultural representation in any form because they worried about the backlash because they missed something out somewhere in their fictional fantasy representation of something. I want to see fictional worlds of steampunk old England with only black and POC characters. That would be really cool and I don’t think people should get angry at that. The only time I feel the anger is justified is if the cultural inspiration is being made fun of / mocked.

Imma be real, the one nickpick throughout this whole video is how Dish is borderline Qanon in regards to finding something from the devs' lines in regards to the past month's controversies. The disclaimer at the bottom right at the beginning, absolutely, yeah, but everything else, like the trailer around 1:14:20, and apparently the devs "vague-posting" about their "hidden feelings" in the livestream? Nah... The 3rd anniversary back in the 3.1 livestream, now that, with what the devs talked about and the upcoming firestorm, now that was a real "yeah, we're gonna be cooked" I will say, a reminder that Mihoyo is not a public company, the ones with the biggest say in the company is still the founders, the big 3, Cai Haoyu, Liu Wei (Da Wei) and Luo Yuhao. (Cai Haoyu merely gave his position as head of the board of directors to Da Wei late 2023) So if the dubious theory that I keep seeing online about there being some shadow-cabal department in Mihoyo that's "banning Mihoyo character designers from creating dark-skinned character designs" is true, the 3 founders have the most say, with Da Wei being "the most". So do with that as you will. Meanwhile, I do not doubt that the designs we got were the ones the designers had in mind.

Even if they were a black only thing, why is it a bad thing for white people to also get involved? If we want a society that coexists, then we should allow them to coexist in all ways. Not with rules that make no sense that only seems to divide. Inclusivity is being done the completely wrong way by those who claim to want it the most.

Right? Dreadlocks and braids have existed in cultures all throughout the world all throughout history. Africa, Polynesia, Ancient America, and many more.

White People with dreadlocks, where did I seen them before? Ah, the vikings.

@@massive_legend6766 Nords, didn't have dreads, they used combs to untangle the hair frequently.

dreads are originated from africa, locs are from vikings. They are similar hairstyles but they are different by both appearance and methods to from them. What the genshin npcs were wearing were (by the looks of it, so take this with a grain of salt) dreads, not locs.

There are the boring types of people that obsess over characters and don’t care about lore/stories. I don’t know how they can sit and watch anime 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️or even movie!

Its not acknowledgement that they wanna add dark characters because they don't have to. Nobody other than some sad souls cry about it. None of these people talked about Disney's blackwashing and now these idots cry about a game lmao

Backwashing doesn’t exist, whitewashing has a whole history! I recommend you reading about this issue some more and why blackwashing can’t be true ❤️

@@dilay9755 bruh, are you for real? 🤣. If you're gonna argue saying Disney character are not real, then tell me why they are blackwashing Isac Newtown, queen Charlotte, Vikings, and lot more in the name of ''diversity''? 😂

@@yanriiyuya I am. There are lots of characters of color that have been played by white people in Hollywood/ or have gone through changes in their skin color despite being black/brown in anime/animation. And ofc nobody knows about it bc it’s normalized. I’m not an expert on this topic, so i can’t pinpoint it specifically but there are lots of video essays that are helpful to learn more about whitewashing

@@vsss4248 Maybe bc white people have been stealing for centuries and colonizing? So making a fictional world about sex between brown and white aristocrats and their love life wouldn’t hurt real life white people. However, i’ve never said it’s right to make queen charlotte or isaac newton other races though, never even watched these shows. Why are you putting words in my mouth?
