Thanks for this video, my Siemens dishwasher developed this E15 fault, and of course, mine was the 10% that wasn’t fixed easily. After following your steps, I found it was still leaking, but water was leaking from the main sump seal. I could see it glistening when I shone a light onto it. So for others here - I did the following which cured it for me! 1. Took everything out of the washer, drawers etc, removed the bottom wash arm, the filter plate and mopped up all the water in the sump bowl. 2. Removed the two screws that were revealed by removing the filter plate. Put something down the sump bowl just in case I dropped a screw down it. I then removed the next two screws from the rear plastic cover. 3. I then removed the spray arm assembly, which is just held on by a couple of clips, one in the back in the middle and one set on the top. Removing the arm allows for it to be removed from the machine (and cleaned). 4. I gently pushed down on the sump bowl (grey plastic part), and this allowed it move down about 1cm. 5. I used a credit card with some kitchen towel, wrapped the card in paper towel and used it to get under the gap between the grey plastic and metal upper part. I gently moved this around the edge of the sump and was able to remove quite a bit of gunk. 6. I repeated this about 4 times until I was sure that no more grease and gunk was coming out. Make sure no towel or rubbish gets left under the plate! 7. I put the first two screws I removed back into the place under the filter plate, and righted up about 70% of the way. I then did the two back screws in the same way after reinstalling the spray arm. It just clips back into place. 8. I tightened the screws up clockwise so that they would righted evenly, and was sure to check there were no gaps between the grey plastic of the sump bowl and the metal plates. 9. I then turned on the power, ran the machine on a pre wash and watched underneath for any leaks. There was no sign of water around the main sump! 10. 5 washes later, and still no leaks! I assume that this was a combination of food/grease contamination around the main seal and once removed and reseated, it fixed the problem. I hope it helps anyone who watches this video and it didn’t fix the problem.

Hi Mark, thanks very much for taking the time to post up these instructions for what to do if the bottom of your machine is still leaking! I do get asked this question but as I'm just a DIY'er and my machine only had a dirty seal, I haven't needed to do this, so I couldn't advise people. In future, I will direct them to your comment! AND I have "Pinned" it to the top of the comments section. 😀 Thanks again! Phil

@@NowFixit Phil, thanks, as you I am just a DIY'er too, and after using your video to try and fix my machine, I looked a little deeper and found the instructions for replacing the sump seal (without disassembly of the machine) and it makes reference to removing the four screws and pushing the sump assembly down. So I just thought, got nothing to lose, a clean and reseal might just work - and it did! Hopefully your excellent video and my scribblings will help even more people from just writing off a perfectly serviceable machine and sending into landfill! Cheers, Mark.

@@markwalsham7115 I also had a leak around the sump seal but in my case I could only drop the pump by about 2mm (more at the back) but I did find a cotton bud did a great job of clearing out the gunk. Seems to have worked so far but I suspect it needs a much more thorough clean and/or a new seal at some point. Machine is 5 years old and in daily use.

As other comments, your instructions were invaluable. Previous to fixing, tilting the dishwasher backwards to empty some water out of the back cleared the error for a very short time but eventually kept tripping the mains supply (I presume - too much water around and getting to an electrical connection somewhere) however after following your instructions and removing residual water, I warmed the lower compartment with a hair dryer, re-assembled, cleaned the door seals (the likely leak problem) and bingo! problem solved. Thanks.

This was an invaluable, step by step guide for sorting an E15 code fault on my Neff dishwasher. My dishwasher is a later (built in model) with a heavy door. I have recently experienced door chord breakages & over time the lower door seal had become dislodged & dirty. Removed seal & cleaned thoroughly, rebuilt which was a bit of a Chinese Puzzle. Many thanks for this invaluable video. Fixed the E15 problem in 30 minutes. One little piece of advice. When reassembling the machine we found it easier to fit the door cover first and then, last of all, the bottom part that fits beneath the door. If you fit the bottom piece first and then the door, the door catches on it when you try to open it up and fix the 6 screws.

Thanks for this video! It's solved my issue which occurred straight after fixing my E-19 error (discharge valve replacement - water poured out when removing the valve). One thing for people to be aware of when removing that final metal panel (5 mins) is it has a thin, sharp edge along the bottom! My panel didn't release as easily as yours so I prised it out with one hand pulling at the bottom. I got a bad cut to my finger! Maybe wear gloves. But just be persistent and not put your fingers along that edge.

This was so well explained and demonstrated, thank you! The one additional bit I'd add is that for units with the hidden controls (top of the door) there are 3 screws inside the handle that need to come out for the door panel to pop off. Thanks for a great guide!

Great video! And agree, my Bosch series 800 required removal of those 3 screws - and a side note, my door cover had to be shifted/pulled downward (NOT horizontally straight out), because there are some downward facing metal flanges on the bottom of the control unit at the top, that fit into the top of the cover.

Thank you for the excellent video, it t saved me calling out a Neff Service Technician, so a great result! My dishwasher was built in, so it took me nearly two hours. It took me a while to get the door panel off - in case it helps others, there were 6 long screws along both sides that held the door panel to the machine. Once those are out, the panel dropped down and discovered that there were two latches on the bottom of the panel that slotted into two holes on the front of the dishwasher. There was also some velcro pads on the panel that helped to stick it to the dishwasher door. Anyway once that panel was off, I could get to the bottom plate easily and get to the inside of the machine. I found a pool of disgusting, gloopy yellow liquid around and in the reservoir with the polystyrene disk. It took me a few goes to get the sensor off, it didn't pull off easily, so I had to rock it from side to side for a bit. Used quite a bit of kitchen towel to clean up all the liquid but after reassembly everything is back to normal. My other big tip for the repair is to allow some time for cleaning the machine itself and around the installation. Built in machines look lovely, but it's amazing how much crud gets behind the door panel, and underneath the machine! Thanks again.

Thanks for a very good informative video. Our 6 year old Siemens iQ500 threw the E15 and the Siemens service engineer could find no fault other than the float having activated due to a small amount of water which he removed as in the video: this cost us £106 ! A week later and it threw the error again but I have fixed it following the instructions in your video. If it occurs again we will get a new dishwasher - tough not a Siemens, Bosch or Neff!

Sorry to hear about the call out cost. 😱 If it genuinely was the door seal, clean it every few months and it shouldn’t reoccur. They’re pretty good machines apart from this little niggle. Thanks for the informative video. I used the video as a guide to repair my Siemens dishwasher after getting E15 error code. i think my leak was caused by the lower edge door seal being squashed in along more than half its length. I managed to push it out from the other side since the door was off using the blunt handle of a knife. One observation - when sponging out the accumalated liquid it is better to lower the dishwasher of the blocks! And when the door came of some of the plastic locating tabs broke. In any case I saved £100+ on an official technician visit!

Our machine was a bit different (the front panel was one single piece and we had to take off the whole thing, including the control panel). Once in there I found the float / switch unit was completely dry. But, there was some weird sticky brown gunk under the float and on the float itself. Once we cleaned that off and put everything back together it seemed to work just fine. It seems weird that it was dry down there but cleaning the float / reservoir made it work just fine. Splendid video. You're a star. In my case I could hear the pump running even though the machine was not in use which I thought was weird but having understood the anti-flood feature it made sense. I couldn't see any obvious leaks so I hope the cause was in fact the minimal amount of gunk around the door seals. The only scary bit was removing the sensor as it's clipped in firmly but this is important to soak up the tiny amount of water which can cause the sensor switch to be activated.

Thank you so much - Our dishwasher's E15 code was part of the 90% that could be fixed by cleaning the gunk around the gaskets and then soaking up the water beneath the styrofoam float. We've run 4 loads since the repair and no recurrence of the E15.

Worked for me - cleared the error code and back in action. Time will tell what caused the leak in the first place - cleaned the door seals, so hope that was it.

@Starphysh Good work, fingers crossed it keeps going for you. Mine has been ok ever since, although I do clean the door seal from time to time. Cheers, Phil

ray and as I did yesterday and today, have a cold beer in between ;) hard labour deserves a reward-on a serious note can you look at my comment above,do you have any idea what that little knob thing is that drips?, it's under the filter and right above the polystyrene floater ,after i got the machine going I watched and it dripped every 10 seconds or so

Big thanks for the clear video! My fault ended up being the heat pump connection leaking, but your video was simple to follow, and enabled me to open up the front and get the water out, and clean up all the seals. Was easy then to see the flood spurting from the RHS. Taking off that RHS panel I removed, cleaned up (dried mostly), and connected it back up. Two full cycles through and looking good so far. Thanks again!

I thank you very much for this video wich make me spare money and get it done today. I just notice for other women not to try to hire "firmly" on sensor ... I try everything , impossible. The good way to remove it is more rotating from back to front while hiring, than it is possible to remove. (I try a lot of tools to get it out) And also, if like me you remove too much screw of the door 😊, take care the 6 short ones only are for the panel. Thank you for this great job.👏👏

It worked! My safety water float had disintegrated so had to replace. As it is a generic part, I had to trim it to size to fit back in - I used a compass and pencil to measure and kitchen scissors to cut. Thanks for the solution. 🙌🏾🙌🏾

Apologies sir, my eyes saw you at first as a woman. Very Helpful video and explanations, of course I forgot some parts at the end when reassembled it, and had to unscrew and screw again.... I did not dared to detach the sensor but put many napkins to absorb the water. In the end the washing machine works. Very much appreciated.

ha ha, no probs I do have long hair but maybe a little too much stubble on my chin for a woman? Anyway, the important thing is you fixed the machine! Good work and yes, good idea to use the napkins I think it is easier than disturbing the float. Cheers, Phil

This was exactly the problem, showing E15 and flashing tap symbol, which to me suggested 'feed' or possibly 'waste' but it was water, clean at that, in this 'tray'..Didn't disconnect the micro swith in fear of it breaking, so just used kitchen towel and dabbed it dry..bit more than 10 mins though..Machine is a Neff..been installed for years, about 20, yes 20, and it's the first issue we've ever had, apart from regular cleaning..So thank you....

Brilliant video with every step explained clearly. An E15 fault on an older Bosch appliance flashes up as 'Check Water'. I had this fault and this fix did the job. I couldn't get the blue clip off that's near the polystyrene float, so I sucked the water using a squeezy bottle.

This video was extremely helpful and I was able to get rid of the error message. However I am not sure if the leak path is through the main seal as mine is clean(ed), I did find some stains and soap residue when I removed the front panel at the bottom. I will try to attach those
@NowFixit Жыл бұрын
How you getting on? Has the machine continued to give the error or was it ok after cleaning the seal? One viewer did a detailed post on a leak they found the the main outlet and I pinned it to the top of the comments board if that helps you at all... Thanks, Phil

Thanks for this video! I was able to fix my super expensive Bosch Active Water Eco2 doing this! It is 8 years old, so I thought this is too soon to go and look for a new one. I did exactly what you did and it took me 2 hours. I was doing this alone and would have been faster had I had a third hand to help with the door. Thank you also for providing screw types and directions, this was super helpful!
@NowFixit Жыл бұрын
@yvonnek.7324 Good work! 👍 Yes, it is a bit of an awkward job. I tend to work slow and methodical too, a lot of people on here have fixed their machines faster than me. The key think is you got it done and it works 😃 Thanks, Phil

Thanks man, I felt kind of done after I came home at midnight to see a E15, which I've never seen before. Got it back up working, but I have no idea where the leakage came from. Also I was a little unsure about that soft material that was jumping out when I unscrewed the screws. Did I put them the right way back on? Anyway, your calmness and expertise really gave me the confidence needed. Thanks for not beeing one of those overly engaged KZbinrs, but collected and helpful. Cheers!

Used this just now and all working well so thank you. As my dishwasher is 5 years old the polystyrene float looks like it has absorbed too much moisture so may need replacing. Be patient with pulling the bottom part out as mine was attached by the feet of the Siemens iq300 we use. Decent dishwasher and these kind of things are bound to happen once in a while. Great vid.

Thanks, glad the vid helped you! Interesting about the float, mine doesn't have that issue (similar aged machine) but I'll watch out for it! Mine has been fine since doing this work over a year ago but I do clean the seal on the inside of the door now from time to time... Cheers, Phil

Excellent video, it helped me to fix a E15 fault. Just a few minor criticisms. While removing the door, two plastic spacers fell off and I had no idea how to replace them, some guidance would have been helpful. Also I would have appreciated more instructions on how to refit the doors as I found that this required an alignment of certain parts. Overall though, extremely useful video , well explained.

Thanks, it was exactly as you said, and the fix fixed it. Your best tip was “pull firmly” to lift off the sensor. I would have been afraid of breaking it or might have given up at that point.

Yeah, that's always the difficulty with plastic clip on things, often it's hard to tell how hard to pull and if you are doing it right. Glad you managed to fix the machine and the fault hasn't come back 👍

I’d also like to add, if you have a lot of water like mine. You can place a towel under the front of the dishwasher and tip the machine forward about 45 degrees and all the water will fall out of the convenient hole at the front! Saved me mopping it up with a sponge lol
