Perfect explainer, fixed the machine. Thank you. One small note - the piece that houses the sensor, I took a while trying to find a gentle way of getting that off but actually you just grab it and pull it out. Bit of force is okay.

I have done previous work on my Bosch, including replacing the impeller (for a different problem and which turned out to be unnecessary), based on other available videos. I watched your video for the E15 issue, and yours is one of the best. Clear, concise, and very practical. Appreciate your effort and contribution. And by the way, I seemed to have fixed the E15 per your procedure. Thank you.

Adding gratitude for a very well-done and helpful video. I was able to take care of the problem myself in a short time. Adjusting to life alone without a partner who had taken care of these issue, so it was very empowering to know I can do it! I was appalled at all the crud on the rubber gaskets!

Thanks for this!. My 2 y/o Bosch 500 series just got this error this morning. Sure enough the seals around the door were nice and crusty. Those who said to slide the unit out from under the cabinet about a foot and move the left side insulation out of the way to access the float sensor were bang on - what a top tip! Slid it out, dried off the float and sump area, slid it back in, re-leveled it, cleaned up the seals and door. Took maybe 45-60 min and back in action. Thanks again!

🎉thanks. Got my dishwasher working again in less than 30 minutes. I have a more recent 500 series. The only difference is that the outside of the door is constructed differently. I needed to take out all of the screws from the door and have someone hold it while I took off the lower plate and soaked up the water.

Need to fix error code 15. Watched several others before watching this. This guy is a really great teacher, likely successful at whatever else he does in life. Depending on what you think the cause is, agree with other commenter that tilting backwards 45 degrees may solve problem temporarily or permanently, but watch this video regardless for good tips on preventing next time.

You’re a rock star! Clear and thorough instructions led to an easy fix. Some notes: - I needed to remove the two top corner screws on my model. - I didn’t need to pull out the sensor. I just mopped up the water with the sensor still on. - I can’t believe how much calcification you have on your stainless drum. Your water must be super hard where you’re at. Thanks tons for the awesome video!

Hey, thanks so much for your helpful video! This is my first time having this error code and definitely an annoying but simple fix. I unfortunately only found your video after unscrewing the counter screws and had already pulled the washer out a bit. But fortunately, I learned that by doing this, I was able to access the water sensor without the hassle of removing the door or any of the front panels. The side of the machine under the main compartment is completely open, allowing full access to the elements underneath. I was able to mop up the water and easily reset the sensor. Just thought I’d mention, in case you want to do an update of your video. Made the whole process a lot simpler and I was able to run a short cycle with the washer pulled out and observe if the water problem was fixed or if I needed to replace a leaky hose or cracked water pump (which I thankfully didn’t). Thanks again!

Shout out to Brandon. I watched your video when we got the error 15 message on our Bosch 800 series. Thank you so much! I'm not at all handy, but I was able to get my Bosch up and running by following this in about an hour. I figured "it's already not working, its very much out of warranty, there's nothing to lose" and went for it. For those searching, I have a Bosch 500, model SHP65T55UC/07. Make sure you leave the top 4 screws on the door in so the control panel doesn't come out, and, since this model has a recessed handle, there are 3 screws (also Torx 20) under the handle that need to come out as well. Door was a touch tricky to get back on but even that went relatively smoothly, and, just for laughs, my unit had the wiring diagram in the same place yours did. Again, thanks!

Found the error message when we go up this morning. It’s 10:50 am now and it’s fixed. Great instructions. Saved me $250 in service call. I did remove the various parts but super easy to put everything back together. Good engineering means parts fit like a glove. This was the first time in 10 years. I’m wondering if and when the problem recurs.

Outstanding video, and does seem to address the problem. However, just watched another video where they simply recommended (per the manufacturer) to tilt the machine to 45 degrees and simply let the water drain out into a towel. This re sets the float switch without taking anything apart.

Helpful video! Something that may make someone's life easier however; I too have an 800 series Bosch. Encountered this same error. It was far easier for me to unscrew the two screws securing it to the cabinet, slide it out and access the float switch from the left side access port. Other than that, all of the other steps were the same. I know some other series do not have the same access and some may not have the ability to easily slide their dishwasher out. For me, it is the way to go. 10 minutes rather than 30.

A link to this video should be given to all purchasers of Bosch dishwashers :) We've had ours for three years, and I have had to repeat this procedure twice. I am certain that I and the other contributors in this thread are not the only ones. I should just point out that a very slightly different procedure with the door is needed for built-in dishwashers, and it takes a bit of jiggling for the components to 'pop out', but it does the trick, and the wife is happy, so that's what counts. Thanks!

Amazing video thank you so much. One addition that might be helpful - I have a 500 series dishwasher, the kind with the handle recessed into the door as opposed to one sticking out that you can "grab". I couldn't figure out how to get the door cover off despite following the video instructions and didn't want to risk taking all the top screws off and having the control panel come off. And then I saw there were three TORX screws holding it in place just below the handle on the outside (can also be removed with the T20). Once I removed those, everything else went exactly as in the video. Thank you again Brandon!

That was a really excellent video. One of the best I’ve ever seen on KZbin. I was able to watch it once, and repair my Bosch dishwasher. What I thought was going to be a daunting task was made simple by your video. I’m so happy, that I just needed two bits on my electric drill, the star for almost every screw and the Phillips head for the two black panel screws. I used my Ryobi drill, and set the torque to its lowest possible settings after seeing your warning about potentially over tightening. The only slight bit of difficulty I ran into was putting the door back on. Then I noticed the tabs on top that need to be slotted in first. Thanks so much for your help! I also used a wet vac to clean out my pan. That worked a charm!

Thanks for this video. My husband was getting more and more frustrated, as the washer kept trying to empty itself and would not shut off. He tried the reset button and even a hard reset by throwing the circuit breaker off, and nothing was working. Then I found this video. After he took a break and calmed down, he was able to get the dishwasher running again in about 15 minutes. By the way, like some of the others mentioned, we were able to slide ours out from under the counter and access the sensor area through the left-side insulation.

I NEVER leave comments on anything, but this video was a huge help. Our seals were clean, but I think our issue was a gradual buildup of water overtime due to someone opening the dishwasher while it was already running to grab something out of it. I’m sure breaking that seal let water down below little by little overtime until that float switch engaged. Great video. Thank you!!!

I "fixed" the problem using your video, but then the E15 came back a couple days later :) Called in the big guns this time. Repair guy came out, and couldn't find source of leak, but it was *almost* worth it because he gave me a shortcut. No need to take off the front of the door as in your video - he just unscrewed 2 screws attaching unit to the cabinet, and slid the whole thing out. Made it super easy to examine the undersides, and run the dishwasher while looking for a leak. Probably water dripping between door and unit during unloading (or loading) dishes. Just wanted to mention the shortcut in case it's helpful.

Brandon - amazing video. The step by step was perfect and fixed the issue. There were only two things I would add: 1. The top screws on both sides needed to be removed to take the door off. Keep the middle ones in place to make sure the control unit is in tact. 2. I couldn't detach the sensor. The plastic was not coming off, tried all kinds of things to remove it, but didn't want to break it. If there are any recommendations on how to remove this "clip", that would be great. Otherwise, love youtube and appreciate your guidance here.

Great video. A couple of notes: When removing the door shell, the bottom rubber seal is removed from behind the black kick plate (seal still attached to the bottom of the door cover) and the black kick plate should be the last item reinstalled so that one can properly position the rubber seal first. When reinstalling the door shell, for me, it was easier to put the door shell on, remove the top four screws so that I can place the door shell without trying to fit / slide it onto the grooves of the control panel. Saved me money and it took less than 30 minutes. Thanks!

The coverplate on the door just slides down a milimeter or two from behind the electronicshousing with the recessed handle, no need to take of the electronics. See the many other (European) video's. Recessed handles are the norm on the older BSH machines.

I was constantly getting E-15 and E-24 dishwasher error messages with our Bosch dishwasher. I went to Sam's Club to buy some store brand pods, but they we're out. I finally figured out what was going wrong. I bought Cascade Pods, and they were causing me havoc. The water wouldn't drain properly. I had to use a turkey baster to remove the water from the filter area. I will stick with Finish, Costco, and Great Value Pods for now on. I will not buy Cascade Pods anymore. Great video by the way.

It may no longer be relevant, but more high end 800 series dishwashers have what's called a Zeolite. There is a plastic nut and an o-ring that prevents water from getting through. The Zeolite container is located in the back left and you can even see a triangle shaped molding in this dishwasher. I assume they cut the stainless based on features, as the second dryer cutout on the left is also visible but not cut. Back on topic, the Zeolite container comes off, and there is a plastic nut that can wear out, and the o-ring can wear out. My issue was the plastic nut cracked, which also damaged the o-ring. I've had the dishwasher for 5 years. I replaced the nut (around $6) and got a new o-ring and in addition I also added a flat rubber washer to it. So if this doesn't work and you have the Zeolite in the back left, pull it off and check the seals.

Thank you! I slid the dishwasher out about 12 inches and the access is on the left..pulled the sensor and float cleaned and back together in seconds...worked on test. Now assuming we figured out the leak in the first place should be fine.

Dang, you're right! This saved me a ton of work. Perhaps this is a new feature (I have 2021 500 series), but it's true that there is absolutely no need to unscrew anything. Otherwise the original video is useful.

Very helpful, thank you. Another video ran the rinse cycle with the panel off to observe for leaks - which he had. My pool of water in the well looked like it was full of bugs that had crawled in. Turned out to be sunflower seed shells! Go figure! Can’t imagine where they came from, as we don’t have any in the house. Maybe from the installation six years ago - or the factory?

Might be worth looking to see if a mouse has gnawed through the insulation and is leaving the sunflower seed shells.

Thanks! This worked great. Although I had to improvise and access the float from the left side of washer. my font panel does not come off so I had to slide the washer out and access from the left side.

Well cleaning the filter and clearing the pump impeller is for E24/E25, not E15. That one is generally caused by a deformed plastic sump, so time for the silicone ring on top of the black seal. On stainless door there is no issue using acetone or ammoniac or other powerful degreaser. T20 is the offical size according to Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH.

@@rebeccadarrow7204 E15 means there is water catchment in the catchment tray. So unless you had an external flood, something in the machine must have leaked. The door seals as suggested in the video, perhaps. But almost always it is the warped plastic sump, a designflaw. Can be the attached heating circulation pump, as it is shoved onto the sump, but 99/100 it is the sump being warped and no longer making a tight connection with the stainless steel tub.

Being an appliance repairman I can tell you that you might have a bright future in appliance repair.. I would like to have seen the machine run afterwards.. So E15 is a leakage error somethings leaking.. Bosch and Siemens have had a pretty big problem with their bottom drain assembly's gasket.. So it's a common issue the machines leaking from there.. Replacing the gasket is not too complicated but due to the risk of water damage I'd have a pro do it.. Just removing the water or cleaning the float won't fix the problem long term. In general id allways have a pro look at appliances that run with water.. I've had weird shit happend to me during repairs far too often..

We just code the code before a Christmas Eve dinner for 9 people. I’ll be the dishwasher until after Christmas Day, then I’ll tackle it. Although maybe a little more to do, I prefer this method over pulling out the dishwasher. And I’m glad it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna cost a bunch of $$. One of the causes, which we do,I putting in large cookie sheets & cutting boards along the left side. This splashes water into the vent. As well, opening the door when it’s still running, because it’s so quiet.

Worked for me, just hope it doesnt recur, mine is 5 years old, so i was probably due to one due to the buildup on the gaskets. I actually think that the first time it floats it gets "stuck" (how water can sometimes make things stick together). You can hear and see it emptying if there is a buildup of water, but then the E15 remains and doesnt clear, but the pump keeps running. Thanks for the video, great help. Oh, and my model had 3 screws above where your hand goes to open it (recessed handle) that I had to remove to pull the cover.
