Dishwasher no power at panel door won’t latch

This is a Frigidaire dishwasher that was only 3 months old and suddenly stopped working with no indicator of power or lights on the control panel. After resetting the breaker and attempting several “resets” using the recommended button combinations, I discovered the actual problem was the latch mechanism being in the locked/closed position even when the door was open. Follow this procedure to get the latch back on track and hopefully take care of your problem as well.

Very helpful video. The latch on my dishwasher kept getting stuck in the closed position every time I opened the dishwasher so I had to follow the steps in the video each time I ran the dishwasher. After further investigating, I realized the top of the dishwasher has bowed after regular use for two years, and this caused the latch to not align properly. I stuck a piece of wood above the center of the tub and this fixed the issue. A much easier fix than replacing the latch. I also discovered that only the four screws at the bottom of the door need to be removed in order to access the latch.

This fixed it, thank you so much for the video. After you remove the 10 screws in the door just let the door go back to the almost closed position and the stainless panel will slide down off the tabs that are holding it. To reinstall just slide it back up and it locks on the tabs again then you can open the door fully and reinstall the screws. Do not try to pry the stainless panel off as you'll bend it. It slides off and on with the use of small tabs on the door. Mine was a FGID2466QFSA model.

We have a one-day-old dishwasher - it seems it is the same model as in the video - Frigidaire Gallery. After the technician installed it, it ran exactly one time. The technician even said that you have to handle the door very carefully. And we did, but it does the same thing as the one in the video. No lights at panel and door doesn't latch. This video explains everything. Stay away from Frigidaire and stay away from Lowe's who rec'd this model with the highest praise. Wow wow wow. But thanks for this video!!!

Appreciate your video. I had a 2004 Frigidaire portable that wasn't starting. Narrowed down the issue to the panel and suspected the latch. Your vid pushed me in the right direction. In my case, the older type latch just needed a little lithium grease. This one is 17 years old. Replaced a water level sensor and a pump motor over it's lifetime, but I like it because it's fairly simple to fix.

Solid video, resolved my issues, I had a Frigidaire Gallery, but same exact issue and fix. The latch was somehow in the locked position and would not latch, removed the face per the video, pushed in the latch piece and used a flat head to push the bottom piece back behind the silver bar. Did it with electricity on because I too am a bad a$$.

Follow up. I have a Samsung Dishwasher. Similar setup. Removed all torque head screws from inside the door panel. Separated easily. Latch was clipped within the control panel. Slid off electrical connection (no clip). Pressed together, plastic clips to remove latch. ( Longer center screws removed earlier from center of panel held latch in place) Latch was in the closed position pushed on latch, returned to the open position. Reinstalled in reverse and tested no issues. Expect the cause to be my Grand babies little fingers helping grandmom Total cost just the time no money.

This is a great temporary fix that might last, or may not. If the problem keeps coming back, you can very easily replace the latch for less than $50. Just FYI in case anyone else comes by looking for info.
