I swapped the control board on mine and it’s still has no lights. Probably the top button panel?
@BreakFixRepair11 ай бұрын
Yes more than likely it’s the top UI panel board. I really need to do a video on how to swap that one out.

My dishwasher stopped working and I've been troubleshooting it for 2 weeks now. I found the solution to fixing the problem thanks to your video. Nowhere else online told me much of anything past "replace your control board." Which didn't solve the issue completely. Turns out I needed to put power back into the board before plugging the door's harness back in, after replacing my control board. After checking that the voltage on the door's power outlet on the control board was correct, of course. Now my dishwasher is back up and running all because someone finally went over info that other people didn't seem to include. I appreciate this video!

In my experience cycling power is going to be a short-term fix. I do several of these a week. Sometimes a firmware update with the GE Service Tool solves the problem. Also When you're checking voltage at pins 2 and 5, if you use needle leads and back probe to the harness it's way easier. voltage from the control board should be 14 volts. It could be a little bit one way or the other but if it's way out of variance or no voltage it should be replaced. If I have a bad control board I replace both boards. If I'm getting good voltage from the control board I only replace the ui.

Thank you. I was hoping to help some people that may not have the money to replace such an expensive part at the moment. I ran about 10-15 cycles through this one after and it seemed to be okay for those. I suppose we will see! Thank you for your input.

Best Video ever!!! I have the same DMM and dishwasher. I got 30 volts and it still will not turn on. It must be something with the door or button.
@BreakFixRepair10 ай бұрын
Well technically it’s supposed to be 16 volts according to their documentation, but it’s been working with mine and a lot of people at 30. Not sure for how long though. To put it bluntly I’d say you have either an issue with the UI board or the control board. I’d swap out the control board first as it’s definitely the easiest.

I have the same problem. Dead U/I panel. I replaced the main power supply/control board but still dead. You did not mention a green LED on the board. Mine has it and it lights up steady. Another video said if the LED is on steady, then comms between the control board and U/I board is missing. Also, you measured 30 volts on pins 2 and 5. Supposed to be 13.5 volts on my board, as well as another video pointed out. I would have liked it if you re-measured the voltage on your new control board to see if is still 30 or 13. I still haven't fixed my DW as of this writing.
@BreakFixRepair Жыл бұрын
The biggest point of the video was showing that I fixed this one by just unplugging the connections, plugging them back up, and turning it back on, which seemed to have worked for a few other people already. Since you’ve already replaced the control board then the likely cause of the issue is the UI board. My board works around 30 volts but the documentation I’ve found shows 13.5v so it’s unfortunately a little fuzzy on the actual voltage we should be getting between those two pins. some work on 13.5 and some 30 it seems.

Hi there. Thanks for your video. My DW is a GE GDP615HYNOFS although it still works after I reset the circuit breaker. Here is the problem: After the machine washes the dishes I empty it out the DW and in a short while there will be a beep that continues to beep every half hour or so for a few days until ( I dont use it everyday) the machine turns completely off and wont be able to be used till I restart turning off the breaker for 10 to 15 min and turn it back on. Only then the machine comes back to life and I can run it again. Do you think the replacing the control board will solve the problem or could it be the other board at the control panel on top of the door? Thank you!

My control panel was dead. I did what he said by disconnecting the power at the two plugs and the main power plug outside of the dishwasher and it started right up!

@@MrMikeXsome GE dishwashers have an issue where the UI board and the Control board have an issue that essentially burns out the control board, it will make all sorts of wonky sounds and the LED will do weird things... The problem is it's almost worth it to buy a new dishwasher because most people I've talked to that have this issue end up replacing both multiple times so it ends up just being worth it to get a Bosch dishwasher instead (GE products have gone downhill.

My dishwasher will lose power, just like everyone else watching this video, howveer, when I am able to restore power, the UI will begin to randomly let off an audible chime, randomly throughout the day, presumably until it goes back out and loses power again. Any suggestions?

so last night I did the unplugging two things then plugging them back in and it worked ! the lights came back on but since I already did the dishes I did not use the dish washer last night. I heard it making the beeing noises again last night and sure enough all the power was off again this morning . This afternoon I did it again and it worked again so I immediately did a wash. So I am looking forward to seeing what will happen tomorrow if it keeps happening what should I replace on my GE GDF640HGM2WW ?

Mine I have just been flipping the breaker off and on and it reset. I found that by testing for power because it was unresponsive but did have power and when I reset the breaker it turned on. I have been doing that for a couple months, but now it isn't working. I guess I'll try a few things, but I do have a couple years on my extended warranty. Additionally, the first thing I noticed was pump noise. It was still working, but use to be extremely quiet. That may be a separate issue. When the power issue started it would beep at night like it was losing power when not in use.

Mine has been doing the beeping thing on and off for the past two years like it's losing power then it automatically comes back on. Last time I couldn't get it to work I fought with unplugging it and flipping the breaker and it finally turned back on. It's doing the same thing now and unplugging and doing breaker isn't working. I can't figure out how to pull it out from under my countertop without breaking it either.
@BreakFixRepair Жыл бұрын
@jessicajohnson9193 there are normally two screws that hold the top to the underside of the countertop. There’s a panel underneath you’ll also have to remove. You may be able to remove the under panel and get to the control panel there. It’s a pretty tight fit though. If I can help let me know. Be sure to turn the breaker off first.

If the control panel is bad it can send the wrong amount of voltage to the UI board which will cause it to not light up.

Did you have to replace the control board or just unplug and plug those connectors back up?
@kevincarson70968 ай бұрын
You really need to study a little more. You have have your multi-meter set to AC voltage trying to test a DC circuit. You really don't understand the circuitry you are looking at. Glad you got your dishwasher working... the video has value in that it shows what it looks like when taken apart and where the fasteners are located. An intermittent, cheap, $12 multi-meter can get you into serious trouble if your meter tells you a circuit is not energized when it is, but you have got to learn how to use one correctly regardless.
@BreakFixRepair8 ай бұрын
It’s hard to do everything correctly while you’re filming. Luckily the $12 multimeter picked up the DC on the AC setting and still gave an accurate reading. It’s really not something one would understand until you’re in that scenario of filming multiple takes and splicing it all together and you accidentally set your multimeter to AC on take 12 because you fumbled the wrong word in the previous shot. I use a cheap multimeter in my videos because not everyone has the funds to spend $250 on a fluke, myself included. For 99% of the circumstances it’s worked great. But yes, you’re right, you can certainly get shocked or hurt if a multimeter isn’t giving accurate results, but I’ve yet to run into that scenario with this one. I’d say watching a video, not understanding all that goes into it, and making a judgment on someone’s knowledge is a rather bold and ignorant statement based upon one thing you’ve seen. Have the day you deserve.
