Dishwasher Power Cable Installation

LOL Our Home Depot DW said it came with a Power Cord but did not! The cords are 3 wires but the dishwasher has only black and white NO GREEN I cut an ext cord and connected to the DW wires. B 2 B, W 2 W, green capped as already dround on the DW

Can I use a 14 gauge 15A (125V/1875W) extension cord- by cutting the end off? I can’t seem to find a dishwasher cord anywhere local.

I believe most dishwashers are on a 15 amp circuit, so a 14 gauge cord can be used.

Thanks- it was just easier to buy the extension cord and then cut the end off- I figured it would be the same thing- at a fraction of the price 😊

@@diynatertater my dishwasher has the screw and the green wire goes into the back of the dishwasher where i cant see and then back out, the green wire connected to the screw it doesnt connect to anything metal in the dishwasher other than the wire housing and the screw hole that holds the housing onto the dishwasher is plastic so where does the ground go if there is a screw in the housing, i wired it by myself and it didnt turn on at all.

Selling dishwashers without power cords/plugs is criminal. ALL other appliances come with them. My other beef is this...why is the power junction box directly under the water level switch which is the most common cause of a leak?

They usually have a grounding pigtail wired in already
