Finally found someone who has similar hair as mine. I know we all have different hair and we are to never compare but I have three different textures plus the part that is 3C which is my entire back of my head is lower porosity than the rest of my head. Most of my hair is high porosity which is so weird to me, but in the back it’s either lower or medium - I’m going to try these steps, especially with washing my scalp and letting the suds wash it as I rinse it out. Also, I used to think that hot oil treatments were only just for your hair and not your scalp so I’m going to utilize that step as well. Love everything about this video and truly appreciate you being vulnerable and enough to share it because I know how sensitive these natural hair Girlies are. they will crucify you for the way you do what works for your hair that is why for many years I was relaxed, but now since I’m transitioning, I’m going to really concentrate on loving my hair and researching as much as I can in order to continue this journey because this is my fourth time trying to go natural

I have high porosity hair but it really has had no influence on how I care for my hair. People say how important it is. But it really isn't something that makes a difference to me. I just use what works. My hair thrives. All this to say, don't let it get to you if you never feel 100% about it or can't quite figure it out.
@disisreyrey5 ай бұрын
I disagree. Hair porosity is important especially to people who are just getting started and have no experience with natural hair. And even as someone like myself who’s been doing it for all these years, it has saved me a lot of time. Having that guarantee that a product is going to work because it provides exactly what your hair needs instead of picking random ones and hoping for the best.. Wash days take time and effort and the last thing anybody would want is to take the time to wash, clean, detangle and use products that wouldn’t deliver what you’re expecting. I’ve had my fair share of failed wash n gos, that’s easily the most frustrating thing.
@Eveningbreeze7215 ай бұрын

I beg yall wash ALL of your hair! Don’t just wash the scalp…your hair strands can absorb product and oils too and be dirty just as much as your scalp can. Letting the shampoo just run down your strands is like letting the soap just run down your legs and calling that clean…😑
@mirilazure37755 ай бұрын
Your shampoo should not dry your hair out that much to the point you don’t want to properly wash your hair. Follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner or hair masque to cancel that out. OR find a better shampoo that doesn’t dry your strands. Simple
@disisreyrey5 ай бұрын
Never said to not clean the actual hair, my point was that the main focus should be your scalp when shampooing. I’m talking from experience cause whenever I would apply shampoo directly onto my actual hair, I’d end up with strand knots and have a harder time detangling it causing breakage. At the end of the day, you do what works FOR YOU. Again, I’m sharing what’s been working FOR ME. You dont agree then simply don’t do it.

What do I do if i can't afford to get my ends trimmed? I haven't seen any in the store. Using regular scissors was a mistake. People keep saying just trim them like it's no problem, but I don't have the money and probably by the time I can get them trimmed, a lot of my hair will probably need to be cut off.

thank u for the info. when you moistirize your hair 3 times a week do you put oil to seel it
@disisreyrey5 ай бұрын
Not all the time, the only times I use oil to seal is if it’s lightweight otherwise I wait til wash day when I do my hot oil treatment cause it’s usually heavier/thicker like castor oil, just for a few hours or 24 hrs max then wash my hair again. Just because it weighs my hair down and I don’t like the greasy feeling but that’s just my preference.

If you have low porosity- pay attention to moisture! The low porosity will need hot water to open cuticles and always deep condition at least 20 min per week. Rinse hair with cool water. Add leave in conditioner!!!!! Moisture 2-4x during the week. If you have med porosity then you can cut back on how often you deep condition and re-moisturize your hair during the week. If you hair easily absorbs moisture, then you need even less. There is more. Check out vids from a UK Trichologist ON KZbin. She actually breaks this down very well.
