I hope Dalby stays at Dundee. Not because I don't want him back but because he's doing so well. Some quarters of the Wrexham fan base treated him very poorly. It crossed the line into weird, to be honest. The way he was treated you'd think he went on benders and missed practice, or had some attitude problem. To the contrary, he was a hardworking lad who was respected by his coaches and teammates. What a shocker that getting cyberbullied didn't help his performance at Wrexham.

Is odd really, people don’t realise how many points he won us when getting out of the national league, he’d pretty much played his way into the team by the end of the season bc of his goals and performances. He’s still somewhat young so I hope the club don’t count him out just yet

The big positive goal keeper played a blinder. Will not miss Arthur if his performances continued.

You’re solid at the back which counts for a lot but if you’re gonna get promoted from league 1 you need a 20 goal striker. JM might have been that man if it wasn’t for the injury. The Icelandic lad has never been prolific either.

Looked up the Exeter goalkeeper Whitworth on Fotmob and it says the stats are based on other goal keepers in the past year so if someone is 99% something, it just means that they're in the top 99th percentile of keepers at that skill/attribute. His stats are crazy good, especially when compared to Arthur and he also has 9 clean sheets vs Arthur's 8 this year in the league so we deffo need to score against him in order to hold the number where it is while we await Okonkwo's return.

Although O’Connell did provide a bit more passing prowess for the team as a whole. I still think our issue for passing isn’t in the back line but more blatantly obvious in the middle. That’s why I think we need Rathbone with Dobson and with the absence of Evans, put O’Connell in the midfield rotation. More ball playing from the back for our midfielders and just either Lee or Cannon to float around the outside of their box, but not both of them on the pitch at the same time. We’ve got great wingers, we need one more ball player to also be threatening down the middle, and that’s Rathbone or even O’Connell for either Lee/Cannon and rotate. And ffs let’s give Revan some game time. Either as a super pacey sub or start McClean on the bench for impact sub in second half!
@geronimo825
@geronimo825 Ай бұрын
Revan isn't a patch on McClean. He has pace to burn but he thinks too slowly on the ball. Definitely agree with your other points and have been saying pretty much the same.
@mikehughescq
@mikehughescq 26 күн бұрын
Wow. Have you watched us when Dobson has played with Rathbone? Absolutely awful every single time without fail. That’s not a solution. That’s an exacerbation of the problem. Absolutely agree that the problem is in midfield but that starts with Dobson. As regards wingers, I can’t see how anyone can make a case for McClean being a wing back or even in the team. He’s the guy who’s slow to react not Revan. Revan isn’t as fast as he seems but his speed of thought makes him look fast. McClean’s anticipation has gone completely.

@@mikehughescq Has Dobson played with Rathbone a lot on other teams in the past? There hasn’t been many times that they’ve been on together and the last time when Rathbone came on for Stockport our gameplay went up the next gear. Even if they do play poorly with each other, it’s an issue to fix not avoid, as theoretically they are what we need right now, ball players who can help us keep stronger possession in a threatening way.
@mikehughescq
@mikehughescq 25 күн бұрын
Rathbone coming on had nothing to do with our improving against Stockport. Despite the three subs around the hour mark meaning we got the ball down, it took until Faal came on for us to start exerting real pressure and we did it by largely bypassing both and pushing balls from the back down the wings, which is how we ought to have played from the off. I’ve no idea whether Dobson and Rathbone have played together before but they currently play like strangers who chase shadows and have no idea how to win or keep a ball. Our possession stats. are not some mysterious new piece of tactical genius from Parky. They’re a direct consequence of inserting Dobson into a midfield role which he patently cannot perform. Weird thing but if your midfield can’t win the ball then your possession stats.reflect that; the number of chances you create in a game can be counted on one finger (Stockport) and writing Harrogate and Stockport off as “bad days at the office” as often happens here begins to look naive.

seem to be regressing into poor passing side. lee has been a great servant but has hit a level he is struggling with lge one.. we keep playing slow strikers which is beyond tedious. they get too isolated. at least the defence looked half decent . whod have thought id be missing marriot more than any other striker. our pace up front is pedestrian . id rather try barnett and revan upfront , sounds daft but it cant be any worse than watching very slow giants lumbering around with zilch press or goal threat.

I know Parky loves O’Connor’s left foot, but I think it’s time to replace him. O’Connell or Brunt should get a chance (left foot or not)…

Tom had a bad game on Saturday. He played poorly v Stevenage as well. That said he has been one of our most consistent players overall. I think Scarr instead of O'Connel was a poor decision and I think Cleworth hasn't recovered from his injury or at least hasn't played as well since it and Brunt should get a chance there.

Having to go in for another striker means they have to be better than Mullin, or there's no point. If not, then let Faal play with a savvy target man and let him play the nimble striker role.

I have my faith in Parky, I think he knows what he’s up to, even though occasionally it looks like he doesn’t 🤣 I’ll leave him to scout players and pick a team However if I was going to throw a swerve ball at the upcoming opposition, with Barney looking so good, and with the opposition now staring to wake up to his threat and doubling up on him, I’d give him a go further forward, use his speed and agility to baffle a defence further forward, free reign on taking shot, linking up with players he knows, generally creating some chances that currently we’re struggling at creating, Can he not weave around like Barry and Alfie May? And he certainly has an accurate shot on him

Perhaps there is a reason our supporters keep talking about parkyball when we have lost away! Long balls out of defence for either wingers to run on to or a big forward to knock down to a smaller, more mobile forward is prime parkyball and we frequently employ this at away games. The difference between its success and failure tends to be if the opponents press us and we get forced back into our defensive ⅓ of the pitch.

None of us had this marked to win. Best case we were hoping for a draw. We looked terrible in the first half. Cannon couldn’t control barry. Once we started to sub we looked better. Don’t make it worse than it was. We’ve played much worse, aka stevenage. We will have days like this

@@DrowsyfallWell if he does well then clubs will enquire before the end of the season and if he has a good agent they will be putting feelers out. He'll find his value and if that turns out to be free then so be it. I never rated him but I think he's worth at least some money so a free would be a bargain for someone. Ultimately he isn't good enough for a team heading for the championship.

O'Connell should be taking O'Connor spot. Much better offensive threat. Revan should be playing in front of Rathbone. Rathbone runs around hard doing nothing but getting in the way half of the time. Mullen has to be hurt. No way he doesn't start oherwise.

As someone else mentioned, Cannon is out suspended, so Rathbone in for him. Lee needs competition as he is coasting through games without contributing too much at the moment, maybe play McClean inside and Revan wide as Parky has done before. I like Tom but again not played well recently, if I'm Brunt I'm banging on the managers door asking questions there. Dobbo stays for me, been our most consistent midfielder this season, then Mullin with either Bod or Faal, Palmer needs a rest. Team Sorted!
