Disney Characters Sorted into Hogwarts Houses!

It's fun to sort characters into Hogwarts houses. So I'm going to take the key cast from five different animated Disney films and see where they would end up.

When I saw the title "Disney Characters Sorted ...." my mind didn't go to movie characters. Instead I instantly thought: Donald - Gryffindor; Goofy - Hufflepuff; Mickey - Slytherin (original Mickey, pre-1950s); and Pluto - Ravenclaw.

Maybe part of the reason Stitch settled into Hufflepuff so comfortably was that the models around him were Hufflepuff. Nani's a Hufflepuff, and she's the head of the household. Movie Lilo is as Slytherin as you said, but in the series, she's more focused on loyalty to her ohana and welcoming others into it--all 625 of them! So I think series Lilo wavers between Slytherin and Hufflepuff.

As soon as you mentioned Nightmare Before Christmas, my very first thought was Jack is a Slytherin. It was just so obvious. He is dominated by ambition. However, I thought Sally was a Gryffindor. I could be wrong. It's been too long since I've seen it.

Great video! I especially love your analysis of the characters from Beauty and the Beast and the comparison between the leads. “We’re not so different” is a trope that springs to mind. Also: Love that one of the movies was Lilo & Stitch. That’s one of my favourites ❤️

The trait I most associate with Hufflepuff is Loyalty. They support their loved ones, no matter what. I feel like a lot of the Puff characters in this video have that trait very strongly. Look at Cogsworth, who tries to protect the Beast from things that might upset him but also remains strongly at Lumiere's side. You've got Stitch, who defines himself by his loyalties to the doctor and later to his new family. And then if you look at Geppetto, who lives for his son; Sally who supports Jack through all his crazy ideas, they are all characters who define themselves by their bond to others and that's what makes them Hufflepuffs in my eyes.

I love how you sort, I just want to say. And as a Hufflepuff, I'm going to say, you're not wrong about us being a "Catch-All". I mean, it's true. We can have qualities of the other houses, but at the end of the day it's really down to what is our end goal. Comfort, food, and supporting those we care about. Aside from Newt Scamander and Deadpool, I think it's going to be very rare to find a Hufflepuff lead because we prefer to just melt into the background and let others have a spotlight. Sticking my own favorite Disney movie in here I'll add my own sorting for Pirates of the Caribbean Will Turner-Gryffindor Elizabeth Swann-Slytherin Capt. Jack Sparrow- Hufflepuff -thought he was a Ravenclaw for the longest time but no, he's a puff. Capt. Barbossa- a delightful Slytherin. :D Joshamee Gibbs- Hufflepuff. :D

The more I think about it, I'm kind of confused about Hufflepuffs. At a couple points in the video he implies that Hufflepuffs are primarily defined by being friendly, but then he says Oogie Boogie is a Hufflepuff. Also when he talks about the fox from "Pinocchio" he says that doing what benefits you because you're too amoral to care about the consequences is very Slytherin. Wouldn't that make both Oogie and Deadpool Slytherins? His rationale for not making Oogie a Slytherin is that Oogie isn't ambitious, but he still sorted the fox into Slytherin even though the fox isn't all that ambitious either.

@@adamdavis1648 just like using characteristics can apply to characters, one can also define a job ( or who does a job) by those characteristics ie: scientist asRavenclaw or cooks as Hufflepuffs. In these cases, and can answer both questions, you can uses a deeper look ( ie. Not all Villians are Slytherian if what motivates them is glory or knowledge) and not all Heros or Hobbits need to be a stereotype either. Hope this helps with confusion

Another sorting video - woo! I love these and I really enjoy listening to reasons you give for their placements, as they're always really thought out well and make me think about my own placements. Like I would never have thought of Gaston for Gryffindor, as my first thought was Slytherin, due to his 'I want that and I'm going to get it' attitude. But as pointed out that's is more Gryffindor and there's not much cunning or ambition in Gaston's plan. And of course you have a soft spot for us Huffles - as you said Slytherin and Huffles have the best friendship, which also adds to the whole Lilo and Snitch sorting. Full circle yay! However, the real reasons that Snitch & Pinocchio are Huffles is because they both found what they were looking and as we all know, Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders #HufflepuffPride

Hufflepuff's main attribute is loyalty, since you seemed to struggle a bit with what a Hufflepuff is. You sorted the puffs well, but seemed to discount the word of best association

I agree with your sorting, especially The Great Mouse Detective is on point and great reasoning. As I Hufflepuff I'd like to point out that while I agree with the Hufflepuff sortings, it's not because of "default" or because Hufflepuff accept all, it's because those characters show Hufflepuff traits, like loyalty and hard work. Geppetto, while being brave, goes in search of Pinocchio out of loyalty and love and isn't afraid to do the work. And Pinocchio does hard work in another way, by working on himself. Anyway, great sorting. Also I LOVE your lipstick and eyeshadow and want it so badly! 😍 You look fabulous!

While I don't like Beast and Belle being Gryffindors (I like the idea of a Luna-like Ravenclaw taming a spoiled Draco-like Slytherin), I *love* how you sort the villains here! Gaston as an evil Gryffindor, Oogie-Boogie as a sort of evil Fat Friar--an evil version of laid-back jolliness!

If the Nightmare Before Christmas videogames are canon then Oogie is definitely a Slytherin or a Gryffindor, the guy’s whole motivation in the videogames was stealing Halloween out of a want to be the ruler of a holiday again as it was revealed before he came to Halloween Town he was the king of his own holiday called Bug Day which slowly got forgotten until it no longer existed, that’s definitely motivation driven by a mixture of ambition and a need to be on top because he’s been up there for so long and had it ripped away from him

Haven't watched the movie in a while but going to sheer lengths to get pinnochio back sounds very hufflepuff of him.. we have an immense amount of loyalty to those closest to us, and will do anything to protect our loved ones, or get them back to us somehow.

Tbh, as a Hufflepuff, I don't really get very offended when people use puffs as a catch all bc that's basically what Helga Hufflepuff did, Salazar said only purebloods, Godric said only the most chivalrous, and Rowena said only the smartest. Helga said anyone of magic is welcome. and even if you don't fit the other categories, that doesn't mean you're boring, it just mean you're more content with your life and more laid back I feel. I mean, your not consumed with yourself, or your studies, or glory, you stick with your friends and your happy with that.

Yeah, this ‘Claw is still claiming Belle- my favorite Disney Princess. But I will give ya Griffinclaw 🙂 And let’s be honest- a lot of people are hybrids who don’t sort cleanly. Heck, I’d kinda argue that about Hermione (she would have done great as a Claw) And even Harry, who has a pretty strong Slytherin streak himself.

Some characters are easier to sort than others. Some are like Rebecca Woolf, having some traits of each house but a LOT more of some than others. Some have only traits of two and pretty much no traits of the other two. With these characters, there are two houses you can easily argue they belong in. Some characters either only have traits of one house or their traits from one house vastly outweigh their traits from the other houses. These ones are pretty easy to place. At the other extreme, you've got characters who are either equally balanced in strongly having traits from three or all four houses, characters who have a little bit of each house and/or whose most strongly defining traits are not the ones of any particular house, or who aren't particularly well defined. These characters are very hard to place.

That's a good point. However, I would counter-argue that she doesn't really do anything to further that ambition. Not that she's a passive character, but aside from maybe going to the west wing none of her actions in the movie are intended to advance the ambitions she has. The trait of merely HAVING ambitions and not doing much to achieve them doesn't seem very Slytherin.

I thought Belle was a Gryffindor. She wants adventure, she is brave enough to take her father’s place and explore the castle, she is confident, outspoken, and doesn’t like being told what to do. However, after much research, I have to agree with her being a Ravenclaw. You see, Belle has gained a significant amount of intelligence due to her love of books, which provided her with an elevated vocabulary, an active imagination, and an open mind. Her smarts and free-thinking attitude make her stand out from her fellow townspeople. She is also witty and uses this trait to her advantage to outsmart people. When in an argument with the Beast, Belle holds her ground and challenges each of the Beast's points with a cunning comeback. Another thing I noticed was that the reason she wanted to explore the castle was because she was curious and wanted to learn more about the castle. It wasn’t out of bravery but rather learning. Yes, she is brave, but she values intelligence. Ravenclaws are also well-known for encouraging individuality and are very accepting, Belle isn't a part of any crowd because she is her own person and is a free woman for her time, furthermore, she is accepting of the beast when he is nice to her. Also, the screenwriter, actress, and filmmakers really wanted to emphasize the intelligent and book-loving aspects of Belle's personality.

Well as they said this video was a commission. So the best why to get a sequel video would be to request it yourself. I contacted them via facebook; and that's how we got this video. I think it was about $60 from what I remember. It couldn't hurt to ask about details.

I would actually put Nani in Gryffindor because of her stubbornness, and devotion to Lilo. Gryffindors are very loyal to their families (in whatever form that they may come) and her particular brand of selflessness, her willingness to sacrifice so much of her life at a young age to work every second she can to provide for Lilo is a very Gryffindor brand of selflessness to me. Keep in mine, Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors have some similar tendencies, so I can see why you would sort her into Hufflepuff.

Also, I'm a little confused about Hufflepuff. I thought you said that the reason you sorted J. Worthington Foulfellow (the real name of the fox who calls himself "Honest John" in "Pinocchio", or so I've read) into Slytherin was because doing whatever helped yourself and not caring how it affected others was a very Slytherin trait. But by that logic isn't it very Slytherin to do what allows you to sit back and have a good meal and not care that you're causing suffering in the process, thus making Oogie a Slytherin? You also said you weren't making Oogie a Slytherin because he's not ambitious, but you admitted that Foulfellow isn't ambitious, either.

Fellow Slytherin here! I had never considered Belle a Gryffindor. She's always been my favourite princess, and I've seen the animated film countless times, but this is the first time I thought about that side of her character. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite film, and I actually really like where you placed everyone. As for Nightmare, I do think Sally's got a bit more Slytherin in her than just drugging Dr. Finklestein, but on the whole I agree with the placements. And with Lilo and Stitch's leads, hell yes!
