Disney Cruise Line | The Wish! Travel and Embarkation Day with Adam

It's the first vlog of a new Disney Cruise Line Series! I'm sailing on The Wish for a 4 night cruise out of Port Canaveral to Nassau and Disney's Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas. In this vlog I'll fly to Orlando and spend the night at the Hyatt Regency at MCO (literally inside the terminal) and then it's off to Port Canaveral for Debarkation Day! I'm joined by my wonderful friend Adam Hattan on this adventure and it was truly an incredible cruise. I'm so glad you're here!

We have stayed at the Hyatt a couple times when we had late arrivals and it was so easy with the kiddos to crash there for the night rather than make the trek to Disney super late. Both times we had a good night’s sleep, hopped on an early shuttle and still made it to the parks for rope drop!

We once used that MCO Hyatt via "Resort for a Day". We got off our cruise, and our flight wasn't until 6pm. It was a great place to nap, get some food, take a shower, etc. TOTALLY worth the expense to NOT have to hang out in the airport all day long. (neurodivergent gal here... I need non-chaos as often as possible). And agreed - it's VERY QUIET.

Yes, silk pillow cases are easier to keep track of if a different color. I have left some in Hershey, PA. Ugh! But now I also hang a hanger on the handle of my suitcase to remind me to take them off before I zip up. Like the old tie a string on your finger trick.

I've been at MCO a million times and have never known what the hotel rooms at the Hyatt looked like. Thanks for showing us. We just stayed at the Hyatt and we loved the stay. Our valet service was so amazing, Ronie gave us so many many great trips for travel. We went from Orlando to Orange Co. airport in Anaheim, then stayed again on the way back from Anaheim to Orlando. We originally drove to WDW from NC, so this hotel was such a wonderful treat for parking, food and handy for flights!

Yes, great verandah and nice bathroom in an accessible room. HOWEVER, if you have trouble walking (like my mom), note that a lot of these rooms are at the END OF THE SHIP! Meaning you have a long walk to the elevators. Ready to follow along with Jen and Adam!!!

The Hyatt Regency at the MCO airport is the beginning (and ending) of every Disney World trip we make! Love, love, getting off the plane, grabbing our baggage, checking in, and then hanging at the lobby bar!!! The bartenders and the food are the BEST!!!!

I love my little DJI camera. Only bit of trouble I had was adjusting the frame rate so when in low light it didn't create a strobe flickering. Now that it is fixed it's a joy to use for capturing my own little adventure clips. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Okay, the pillowcase thing. Yes, it's a thing. My daughter stayed near the beach in a hotel. She has sensitive skin. They must use strong bleach. Now, at the beach you're in the SUN! She couldn't go in the sun because her face got a terrible rash from the pillowcase. We went to see the doc when we got home, she had to take hydrocortisone on her face for a week to get it to settle down. So she now packs her own PILLOWCASE!

Yes I have used Uber black but I've had enough bad experiences in Orlando with uber that I prefer a private service.

An actual fridge gets way colder. So if, for instance, you were keeping medication there it wouldn't be cold enough (guest services will bring you an actual fridge if you need one, no extra charge!). Great question!

My dad had diabetes so I'm always very careful to mention things like that and sharps containers, etc. It's a small thing but can be a pain if you don't know in advance to ask for a fridge!

A quick note: You mentioned that DCL passengers can use an existing MagicBand on Disney ships, but that isn't exactly true, evidently. Here is what the DCL website says: Q: Will my existing MagicBand work on Disney Cruise Line ships? A: No. Previous versions of MagicBand are not supported on Disney Cruise Line ships at this time. However, you can use MagicBand+ as a DisneyBand+ on your Disney cruise. Q: Can I use my MagicBand+ on board Disney Cruise Line ships? Not a crazy question at all and ABSOLUTELY. I've seen it happen. Just tell them you'd rather not and they just have you walk on in. Interestingly, when the Wish first set sail they weren't doing it but people were sad and missed it so they brought it back. They 100% do not HAVE to do it.
