B-but they included a 0.5 second gay kiss in Star Wars and cut it out for the China release. Disney is super inclusive and great at telling diverse stories. Now go watch the next slop remake of a Disney classic and stop expecting the movies you watch to actually try and say something.

I grew up with a closeted trans sibling who didn’t feel safe in our household, so to see Disney act like this when realistically they’d probably lose barely any money from it is actually infuriating, but at this point I don’t even expect better than this from them

Let me ask you this: would you rather have an episode focused on a character whose entire personality is highly likely to just be "woo im gay" for the 900th time, OR not have an episode about it and instead have a backgroud character that actually blends in with the rest of the cast and doesnt falsely represent the lgbtq community? Tbh, i see this thing being pulled as a win (and dont yall dare try to accuse me of homophobia because that is NOT the point of this)

To be fair, they’re children (not to say kids can’t be transgender) but it becomes A LOT touchier of a subject. Also there’s many people who wouldn’t want their kids to see something like that (which sucks) as a fan of Pixar and ally I’m happy we’re still getting the character in the show. It means we might be able to get a story like that in the future. Progress isn’t instant, it takes time, and as of now a large majority of Disney’s fans might not be happy with something like that.

I guess the way I see it is it would be different if it was a gay/lesbian character they were trying to cut. This feels a bit more like a mature topic considering it’s meant to be for younger audiences

First Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, now this. At this point, why am I not surprised? Disney will never change for the better and it really shows here. I actually watched the animatic myself and I agree, it's a representation for people who feel uncomfortable who either just transitioned or struggling with their gender identity. Like, I get why they did it because they want parents to tell their kids what it means to be trans, Gay or Non-Binary, but We're currently in a world where Parents don't care what they're kids watch and will just give them an ipad in their face instead spending time with their children themselves, so they would probably find out about this sooner than later. I at least hope someone out there will finish this scene to extent, whether as a Comic or a Short film either way I think the scene has a great message behind. And I am mostly definitely watching Sonic 3 than Midfasa.
