I assigned most of my chars to gardening as saw it as the quickest way to level them up. In my experience, WALLE is the best gardening buddy 1000%. He doesn't get in the way like all other characters when i'm trying to get those golden bubbles, he stays back like the perfect little beep boop he is ❤ If I use anyone else for gardening I need to lock them up in fences.

I'd say if you're going to have one person with a given skill, you should have two. That way if one of them is asleep you can hang out with the other. In my current game I kept it equal; the same number of each profession until Scar came along, then he got Mining because I like getting those bonus shiny gems. Mining: Scrooge, Maui, Anna, Scar Gardening: WALL-E, Mickey, Gothel Fishing: Goofy, Moana, Elsa Foraging: Merlin, Kristoff, Donald Digging: Remy, Minnie, Eric

thats why i hope in the future they allow us to somehow change the profession in the future theres many different methods they could implement that feature and that could be a good update for either early access to give them more feedback

I think you missed that you can no longer buy crafted items since this update, so you will need to grind for all those resources constantly. Congrats on the 4k!

Someone tested it out and some companions rewarded more items: they suspected it was the third crafting pal. It was a very thorough test. So like, the third one added give more. Also, did you notice that you can’t buy crafted items from Scrooge anymore? There will be a lot more crafting now

You need A LOT of pebbles for crafting certain paths, so more diggers is helpful if you want to craft a lot. I only have one digger, and I wish I assigned more, but there are more characters coming, so I can't be too upset, just have to be patient, haha.

You can no longer order Craftable items through Scrooge. They patched that with the update. I noticed when I went to get more chests.

I couldn’t wait to get Buzz and Woody to assign them as my gardening and mining companions getting in the way (in the cave) When gardening they literally get in the way when the one brightens up and fires off the bonus veggies. Having the little helpers will solve some of the annoying issues. I made the wrong choice and constantly get stuck in the mines when I go back for the iron.

I have three fisherman cause I wanted to feed all the critters quickly. With the crocs and foxes needing the gold-circle fish, I needed a fishing buddy to double my chances for those. 😊 Oh and the fugu fish! I have terrible luck getting those cause they’re only available when it rains.

I have 1 forager, don't plan on making anyone else one. I have two diggers and 3 miners. The rest are gardeners. The more you have of each group, the more you get in crops and supplies. Oh I have 3 fishing buddies. But since Moanas boat they definitely aren't needed lol.

I always bulk cook at Remy's world a lot of souffles, jump there to eat, dump the foodpile on the floor and continue mining or whatever. Never cook anything to eat for myself.

I think there is a good chance that the Devs will give us a chance to redo our professions as it's being asked for, but I doubt it will be anytime soon. The introduction of a new profession, like cooking, would be a prime opportunity for it, though.

in my opinion there is no real need to have a change profession option.. we are going to get new characters with every update which can be assigned a profession you may be needing more of or if they add in a cooking profession the next new character could be given that profession, just my thought on it

@@crazyivan512 I agree with you here. A lot of people have lost sight of the fact there’ll be dozens upon dozens of new characters. If you put like 10 gardeners now, then I kinda feel like that was your stupidity and you should deal with the consequences. But as we’ve both said, there’s more characters in the pipeline, so you’ll have the chance eventually to even it all out.

Has anyone noticed some people have a plus sign in their bonus icon? Does anyone know if some characters should have a certain icon to get the plus… example you have foraging for Maui and your hangout icon has a plus. I have mining and it does not. But my Scrooge has one for foraging and yours does not.

I'm so mad that I made all my villagers foragers at the start and only have 2 miners and 2 gardeners. If there's really stacking for their yields.

I disagree about fishing. Your berry salad is like at the midrange of stamina renewal. To fill up the bar you need to get the most out of your meal. Lobster Rolls are the best I've found and Moana's boat may provide them once in a while but not everytime that you empty it. Fishing with a buddy gives me plenty of lobster. Fish sandwiches with two high energy fish is also a great way of building up your yellow bar totally.

in the start of the game you definitely want 1 of each profession.. late game I do not use any of them, there is just no need to, by the time you get to Scar Update, you should have plenty of everything. (especially if you harvest everything and forage everything you can daily) I have never seen one of my Mining companions give extra of anything but gems.. never ever seen them pull up an extra Iron.. and even if they gave me one extra per 20 or so deposits I harvest.. its not enough to matter (sure it only takes a minute to get someone to hang out with you, but thats a minute I use for harvesting/ gathering as I only get to play an hour a day) . as You said though.. everyone plays the way that suits them best. Gardening is the fastest way to level a companion though (especially with 500 farm plots) All of the new characters introduced will be gardening companions for me just for faster levelling of them. Correction : I do use my fishing companion to fish when it is storming to try to get an extra Fugu :)

Mining companions give extra iron and gold all the time. Fishing companions are a life saver when you’re fishing for the fish to feed the foxes. And now that crafting is much more prevalent due to Scrooge not selling craftables anymore, your digging companion will be use full to get the most ground resources. Gardening is obviously essential for pumpkins and money making. The only one that isn’t very useful (yet…because please bare in mind they’ll keep adding in new game mechanics) is the forager. So the sensible thing is to have an even number of each. Assigning them all as gardener is idiotic imo. You’re shooting yourself in the foot, a small amount now, but as new mechanics are added into the game, probably a large amount. Not only that, but who actually needs all these gardeners anyway? I have a 1,237 plot pumpkin farm in the glade of trust. I have 3 gardening companions. Each time I harvest and make pumpkin puffs, I make 4.3mill. A well rounded, evenly assigned, professions system, is definitely the best idea.

@@adamjohnston7772 Its not about "needing" the gardeners.. for me its about levelling the character faster to get the quests done, 1 of each of the others at level 10 is enough for all coming mechanics they add.. and when/If they add more mechanics, there will no doubt be a new character which can be assigned to the new mechanic.. say.. cooking.. but I will say it again.. my opinion is that there is no need for a cooking companion until they add a need / quest line.. to have to make dozens and dozens of a high quality meal. You say your making 4.3 mil. each time you do your pumpkin puffs... how much is sitting unused in your pocket? what good is it with nothing to buy? I am not criticizing your play style, calling my play "idiotic" is your opinion and doesnt need to resort to name calling.. and again.. late game cooking is simply not needed to move the game forward, millions of star coins are easily gained without taking extra steps/ time . Have fun, play your way.. all this is just my opinion, like it or not

I think he didn’t quite understand your question, so I’ll dip in and explain. They are used to design personalised clothing and accessories. If you look in the wardrobe tab, there’ll be a section called “customise” (I think that’s what it’s called). You’ll see lots of blank, plain white, types of clothing and accessories. You can use the motifs as patterns on these blank clothes and accessories. If you follow the Dreamlight Valley Twitter, you’ll see lots of amazing outfits posted…most of which look so good, because they were hand designed and unique to that person. This is how you can make yourself spooky Halloween outfits, with the motifs you’ll get on the star path and/or previously in the shop. Hope that helps.

Unless they make cooking more important as to having to give a lot more meals to villagers.. or something.. I dont know.. but right now cooking for money just isnt late game worthy. (by late game I mean finishing all quests up to the Scar update). I can get memories from making the crackers meal.. there is no need to make high level meals in mass quantity, If you use cooking for money making.. that is fine mid game (about halfway to the Scar update, which I call late game at this point) and is simply not needed at this point in the game.. by the time you get to Scar you should have so much money from your play style ,farming, cooking, mining.. whatever.. that doing anything extra as far as using a companion to cook for possibly one extra meal out of 10 tries... just takes more time then it would be worth, Until they add high level "late game" items that cost 100's of thousands of star coins.. more money is not needed past the 3 or 4 million that is not that hard to reach by the time you get to Scar (and you dont even "need" that if you dont plan to upgrade your house to its max)

Sorry, totally disagree. If you’re not growing pumpkins to cook and sell pumpkin puffs, then you’re bonkers. You’re simply increasing the amount of grind you’ll have to do to make money. And I presume everyone is buying the entire shop every day. That’s what, around 200k(ish). I only need to spend 10/15 minutes making pumpkin puffs to have that amount. Why on earth would you do anything else!

I have not seen, by the time I was done with all the quests up to Scar Update.. I had no need for that amount of money daily anymore, buying everything daily from Scrooge runs out also.. he starts repeating what is for sale... and I can easily get enough money for daily spending just selling fish from Moanas boat and harvest from Wall-Es farm and selling my 200 pumpkins...no need to spend that extra 15 mins. a day cooking .."late Game" , and when you only play an hour or two a day... 15 mins is a long time

A better system would be to assign levels to each companion for each profession. This way, you level the profession level for each of the companion you have. Then you decide who you want to level higher for what profession and when. This will provide more time sink for ppl to spend time to level companion profession.

I’m not really liking this idea, sorry. You’d end up in a situation where either they’d allow you to max every profession for each character, which is just pointless, or if they don’t allow you to max out every profession, you’d end up just picking 1 profession to max out (because what’s the point unless it’s maxed out) and then be right back where we are 🤷🏻‍♂️ I like it the way it is. Unless you were an idiot and assigned everybody gardener, then it all works the way it should. And if you assigned everybody in the game an easy profession, then more fool you. That’s your own fault for being an idiot…deal with the consequences really, like any other video game if you make bad choices 🤷🏻‍♂️ That’s just my take on it.

@@adamjohnston7772 I am just being sarcastic in my post because grinding has creeped its way from MMO to PC-based game. We need 1000 starlight, 1000 iron ingot etc for one quest only to find the next unlock quest needing another 1000 iron ingot and more materials of other kinds. Grind fest at its best and the goal is to put in more time sink for ppl to waste their fucking otherwise useless life I supposed. Talk about being an idiot.

Once you upgrade your shovel at the Scar quest line, you get clay from removing bones… so, no need for digging buddies! 🫠

You definitely need one digging buddy for the times you need a lot of soil and clay at once. With a digging buddy you can get what you need very quickly. Otherwise it could take days.
