Isabella wasn’t bragging about her prophecy in “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” She was just as upset as everyone else because she thought she got the only false one. And Bruno’s salt and his rituals weren’t actually a necessary part of his gift. They were him. I think his gift came out of his anxiety and need to feel some control over fate, which is also where the rituals came from, but they are correlation not causation.

Disney made an excellent work representing Colombia in this film! 🇨🇴

isabela's prophecy of having the perfect life was sad like the others bruno gave, bc isabela did not want to be perfect. she wanted the pressure of being perfect to stop, and a negative prophecy would have helped give that. there's a lot of analysis about the family representing a 'toxic' family and each character plays a different role in one e.g. mirabel and bruno are the scapegoats and julietta is a helper/healer. there's so sooo many details and cool things to learn so i definitely recommend reading/watching some online e.g. during dolores' verse in we don't talk about bruno you can see on the upstairs landing in the background bruno dancing a bit. mirabel is like the successor to abuela in being connected to the house and caring. there's soo much to say but i'll leave it here!
@Gunnhfran23 жыл бұрын
No it wasn’t about having a perfect life. Bruno was propheciesing she would get the life that she would dream about which is not being perfect and to be able to be who she wants and not keep having to be perfect
@veeiris3 жыл бұрын
@@Gunnhfran2 that's open for interpretation, and it works either way. her prophecy works better imo as the perfect life she lived before her song with mirabel. the prophecy doesn't have to be about their endgame life, shown in dolores' as her's was about the love of her life being just out of reach betrothed to another, but that isn't what we end on as she obviously gets with him. so isabela's prophecy being about her perfect life she has to maintain makes sense and also complements all the others being 'negative' but her being sad about her life alone and not letting others know is nice to notice when you rewatch it and know what she was going through and feeling

she says "the life of my dreams would SOMEDAY be mine" which means that as things were, she wasn't living a dream and was unhappy in the life she had at the time. Mirabel is the candle. It was the candle that brought magic and miracle to the house the first time with Abuela .. And in absence of the candle, Mirabel, the human candle fixes it.The whole house is her room. And The reason Mirabel didn't get a gift is because she is the gift.
@hauntedshadowslegacy28262 жыл бұрын
I have this theory that Mirabel absorbed the last of the candle's power in those final moments. Basically, if Mirabel never touched the new casa, the magic would've been gone forever. It hinged on her being able to forgive her family. That's why Bruno's prophecy wasn't clear- because the final choice was up to Mirabel and could not be predicted.

I have a theory that Abuela is the real source of all the magic. When her Pedro is killed, Alma is a single mother with 3 babies she must care for, alone in a scary world in which she must find her way. Her love for Pedro, her pain at his loss, her need to care for their family, causes her to unconsciously imbue the candle, a token of both her wedding and the moment of her great loss, as a token of the magic. She makes the Encanto, casita, awakens the childrens' gifts, which are all abilities a frightened single mother might feel she needs in order to survive: great strength, foresight, adaptability, control over animals, healing ability, control over weather, making things perfect.... When she starts holding on too tightly by formalizing everything into ceremonies and reputation, relying on the security she feels in these tools and effects she has created, she develops cracks in her relationships (that are mirrored in la casita, and in the flickering of both the candle and the gifts), driving one away, about to do so to another. She forgets, but finally re-learns in the end, that it is the people, the family, who are what's really important. In a real sense, Pedro did send her Mirabel, because their love awakened in Alma so long ago the magic that made all the rest of it possible, including the child who one day would be the only one who could, being 'giftless', show her the error of relying on the mere tools and effects of the real magic. The real magic which was always the love of family.

Ahhhhh, you laughed really hard at the same parts as me AND you speak Spanish?! Well, that was a fast subscribe! Here's some of my thoughts: - WOW, this was a great holiday stand-in for my weekly therapy sessions, holy moley - I watched it twice a day, without fail, over the holidays, so I get the need to watch Encanto multiple times just to get everything - my favorite and least favorite part (funny how that happens) is "Surface Pressure" - like, Luisa, babe, NEVER have I felt so SEEN, as someone with intense anxiety and depression mixed with generational trauma and being the oldest sibling, too. I can't even hear that song without crying, which sucks because it is a Grade-A bop! - Isabela, doesn't want to marry the village hunk but still goes through with pretending like she does for the family, who is extremely interested in growing plants other than the one kind of flower she'd been told to grow from the moment she got her powers (the inoffensively pretty kind), had my queer subtext-o-meter going nuts. So, I'm manifesting that Isa gets a girlfriend in the very well manifested Disney+ series. - I love how we're witnessing the maturation and growth of the songwriting power of Lin Manuel Miranda in this decade. Like, you can hear, in all of the songs, bits from "The Family Madrigal" to convey the theme of how everything that's happening is based around the foundation of the family. Miranda used this style of musical motifs as a major method of storytelling in Hamilton (there's a Howard Ho video all about that - I'd definitely recommend it, as it's fascinating), but not as consistently as in Encanto. I love that he's actively experimenting with all of these musical ideas in every project he takes on, and in every new project, I'm always like "Okay, this is his best song yet." First, it was "Yorktown," then it was "You Know Who You Are," now it's "Dos Oruguitas" - I only expect it to get better, as he does more! - I've been getting into the KZbin reviews of Encanto, and I saw an awesome video about going into a deep dive on Columbian culture by Jessica Flores - so check that out, as there are some amazing insights from her - and Jessica Darrow, the voice of Luisa, has a KZbin channel and is a musician (!). She has a jazz cover of "Surface Pressure" that SLAPS with Mike Elizondo on upright bass. Check it out at Jess305.

I too was confused as to why Dolores didn’t mention Abuela, my running theory is that Dolores heard Mirabel outside as well, so she didnt tell Mirabel because Mirabel already knew about it.

9:39 -- yes; but note those are two separate sentences. The first is in response to Abuela's question, "Do we have a date?" Mariano is planning to propose- tonight. And he wants 5 babies: this is supplemental information. Proposal --> Marriage --> ... more Madrigal kids! ...but he is not saying he wants/needs to have them all TODAY.

@@TavareIsUnique Quintuplets? I mean, Abuela already had triplets... (Just kidding, of course! 😂) Mariano just wants a biiiig family! Hopefully he and Delores will be happy!! ♥ Loved this movie! Glad you did too. Disney hit it out of the ballpark with this one! 🤩 (and Yay! more TeeTurtle shirts! At first, I thought it said, Llama Drama... but it was Llama Ooooooh! 🦙😄)

Encanto is a so beautiful movie. And now I can't stop to listening the songs, aahhh... those lyrics!! Lin Manuel Miranda, who wrote all the songs, is a genius. Did you watch Hamilton? is a masterpiece :)

my guess is they're setting up abuela to pass away in the sequel and Maribel to take her place..neither of them have power, but the house listens to both of them (they are the only ones actively seen ordering the house about)... the house originated with abuela, and was renewed, in a new shape, with Mirabel... her door is the front door of the house, her power one of service to the family, which show on the front door all around her. a renewed generation has to be the central theme of the sequel, if they ever make one.

That flashback with the grandfather, who were those people who attacked the town, were those Spanish Conquistadors ?

Asking all the right questions. I was wondering who they were as well and why there were attacking.

I read other people's response to this question in other videos - presumably, this was based on this time when Colombians turned against other Colombians over ideological differences. Conservatives were chasing Liberals out of their own homes and inflicting violence upon them, as I understand it.

9:10 the first time Dolores talks about Bruno. I know she's talking about the rats living in the walls, but uhm, she doesn't have Antonio's animal whisper powers.

A thought. Abuela doesn't have a gift, she's more connected to the miracle itself. Mirabel might be too?

Lin-Manuel Miranda's talent really shines in this! He wrote "Dos Oruguitas" in both Spanish and English. Disney would have put the English version in the movie and the Spanish version in the credits, but he convinced them to do the opposite. Partly because "oruguitas" and "mariposas" are such prettier words than "caterpillars" and "butterflies." 😂🐛🦋

@@TavareIsUnique crazy huh? Leads credibility to the rumor Deloris was feeding Bruno the whole time. Pretty sure that was Deloris's room, unless they have a ball room in Casita. So he was on the Balcony on his Niece's room. The same one who hears everything. Who knew he was in the walls the whole time, and the same one who was explaining in that very song about how Bruno was misunderstood how he made Proficiency what where hard to understand
